• Rift items for TF2
I am a little disappointed that Valve seems to use TF2 for advertising other games. I am fine with the Mann Store, community made weapons, hat-sets and all that, and sure, the first Sam & Max/TF2 crossover was alright, but it's getting old now. These weapons don't even fit in.
It's all about money baby.
Simple solution that has been said before, but because people are arrogant... If you don't want the game, but want the items, wait till march 1st and craft them.
It's all about money baby.
^^^
Everyone writes one sentence of what they think about all these items and hats and shit, and then everyone writes a mail consisting of all these sentences to Valve. They can't miss it, and it might make them think twice. :allears:
For the first time since Valve has started doing TF2 promotional items, the game that the promotion is for is not on the top 10 sellers list within 24 hours. MNC shot into the top sellers list before the content was even officially announced (just based on rumors), to put it in perspective. This promotion doesn't actually seem to be working like the others.

At least you could buy MNC without having to pay for it afterwards.

Shit like this is why I stopped playing TF2. Was just after the Engineer update when the game went "hurr durr hats hats HATS! FUCKING HAAAAATS!"
And at least MNC is a decent game. Saw these in game today... meh. Specially the axe, since that actually have usefull stats for Medieval mode.
Hats were kind of cool at first. They looked decent at any rate. But the community ruined that for us pretty damn quickly.
The community didn't do anything. Valve was the one who picked the hats that were going to be added to the game.
The community didn't do anything. Valve was the one who picked the hats that were going to be added to the game.
Most hats are community submissions. If the best hats are fucking awful, what does that say about the ones that were left? And it was the community that kept requesting hats, causing Valve to add them. Not Valve adding them in such high numbers just because they could.
I miss TF2. :smith:
Valve: Hey, I've got an idea, let's take a super expensive game over 20 bucks un-related to anything in the half life series, tf2 series, or any other series made by us and take items from that game and put it in our game, and take a related item from our game to their game and make MILLIONS! OH LOOKIE, RIFT! A 50 DOLLAR MMORPG! PERFECT! Knights, monsters, strange weapons crafted from the environment, never seen anything like that in our games!
Most hats are community submissions. If the best hats are fucking awful, what does that say about the ones that were left?
To be honest, I think the path the "Topper" wound up going verifies that at least part of the problem is something going awry over there which the contributors aren't able to see or influence. Guy: "Hey TF2 team, here's an Uncle Sam hat for Soldier." TF2: "Looks good, but those hats have both red and blue on them..." Guy: "Just lemme tinker with the design a bit, then, and I'm sure that I ca-" TF2: "TOO LATE IT IS CAT IN HAT NOW" Guy: ... TF2: "Now to release a tree which always has both red and blue lights, regardless of team." Guy: ...

Store was born because the community didn't like the drop system and said "I would rather pay for items than "PLAY" the game"
Also the Mann Co. Store was born because the community didn't like the drop system and said "I would rather pay for items than "PLAY" the game"
But why the drop system in the first place? Was achievement farming really so wrong?
But why the drop system in the first place? Was achievement farming really so wrong?
Well people got tired of seeing "ACHIEVEMENT_MAP.bsp" everywhere in the server browser but Valve went back to the achievements thing shortly after the drop system was added in the spy vs sniper update
The droplimit is being an bitch to me. I stop getting drops so fast, i only get 10 items a week or something.
Same :frown:
I'll be completely honest I'm not going to pay 50 bucks just to get a vintage version of a fucking weapon Screw that shit man
I'll be completely honest I'm not going to pay 50 bucks just to get a vintage version of a fucking weapon Screw that shit man
It's a GENUINE version. :eng101:
It's a GENUINE version. :eng101:
It's basically the same thing
wow when valve put an alien swarm parasite hat into tf2 nobody complained now valve is putting rift items into tf2 and its the end of the world, way to hop late on the bandwagon, everyone
well you see here i have 2 PAY 50 dolla 2 get itemz (even tho valv said i can craft them 4 free after pre-order but its GENUINE!!!!!!! I LOVE COLOR TEXT!) and alium swarm wuz a free gaem!!!!!!!!!!

And it was the community that kept requesting hats, causing Valve to add them. Not Valve adding them in such high numbers just because they could.
That's not good logic at all. First, it assumes all community hats are bad, which just isn't true, even based on opinion. Second, for "the ones that are left" just take a look at the top of the TF2 forum right here on Facepunch at the Mod Emporium. Most of those hats are not in the game, yet have superb quality. Polycount's TF2 thread is also another great source for quality hats. Thirs, Valve doesn't have to actually do what the community wants. They made the call to put the hats in, they made the call on which community hats get in. The community doesn't decide how many or what hats get added, that responsibility falls soley on Valve.
