I am the only one who doesn't care about this ? I was happy getting my Bill's hat with L4D2, some people are going to be happy with their Rift items. "But it doesn't fit !!" Yeah, but at this point, a lot of items doesn't fit TF2, one more, one less, whatever.

To be fair, it is a bit congruent to the Sonic Cycle if the other way round 1. Valve announce new TF2 cross-promotion 2. TF2 fans deride Valve, uninstall game, "it's gone too far this time", "not going to purchase" 3. Cross-promotional items released 4. Promotion is huge success, items are highly valued 5. People spend night and day on trading servers trying to obtain the desired items 6. Repeat step 1

Someone should pretend they're from some sort of indie gaming company (or big one if they can pull it off) and write Valve an email. In that email they request Valve to support their game with a promo item and attached will be some sort of hat or weapon design that breaks the artstyle as much as possible. The art itself should be convincing enough to come off as real concept art however. I think the reply could be entertaining. Edit: Hey, how about that Sweet Bro & Hella Jeff sword from the Emporium? I'm going to go on an absolute whim and predict these items won't have kill icons I know it's an insane thought, and I don't know why I mentioned it, but call it a hunch.

So why's everyone acting as if Valve's forcing people to buy the game? You are still given the choice as to how you'll spend your money. The items just come free with it if you happen to purchase it. In this topic, it just seems too many people are treating it as if the items are the main highlight of the purchase, rather than the game itself. If you don't want the game, just don't purchase it. If you somehow can't tear yourself away from that idea because of the items, then yes, you fit within the mentality of those who purchase games just for the bonus cosmetic items.

Im making a cool game, and this is a weapon that will be there. And in TF2. My game will cost 50 dollars and it'll have monthly fees. This weapon is for Spy because it fits him. Seriously though, If I were doing this for real I guess they'd add this to the game. Unfortunately this is how valve rolls now. :sigh:

Poker Night was $5 (and if I recall was even on sale at one point) and I bought it because I LOVE poker. Killing Floor I'd owned for quite some time beforehand. I never bought MNC. This I'm definitely not buying. I'm not huge into MMOs (even though I play WoW) and I'm definitely not spending $50 for TF2 weapon reskins, especially when both of them have stats for weapons I don't use. As for the hat, I have a hat for each class so I don't need it. Nor do I really need to trade for anything, so having them as trading fodder is useless as well.
