Biggest problem with the direct hit is that there's not always enough space to juggle someone.
The balance between gained hp and lack of a 4th rocket is questionable. But in general the black box is a good weapon for people getting into the soldier class, but staying on defense. Spam rockets, get health and rage, buff other players.
Still the RL is the best for anyone, hands down.
Blackbox when lack of a team medic, and either Direct Hit or normal rocket launcher for normal use.

I prefer the Black Box as its helped me to survive sometimes but when I feel like it I use The Direct Hit to get more practice in doing air shots.

Well you can have a lot of favourite things without knowing how to use them...

blackbox + gunboats is surprisingly fun
A single hit means you restore one of your jumps
best general purpose launcher is the default one though
I prefer the default Rocket Launcher, but sometimes the Direct Hit can be really helpfull, especially when taking out sentries around corners.
I actually hate the Black Box for some reason. I prefer the regular rocket launcher.
I always do better going completely stock with any class, so I have to go with the Default Rocket Launcher.

Well they're "noob weapons" in the sense that only noobs use them because they don't realize what terrible weapons they are.
Black Box is my favorite one with the whole set in tight spaces, when the other team is engie spamming.
Default one is pretty nice.
I HATE the Direct Hit.
In my opinion the Black Box is pretty cool as i'm a roamer. Besides, i like to weaken opponents so my teammates can do the real business with them. For example, i have 100 health left and i see a heavymedic. I edge the medic a bit, maybe even take him out. I get some health back and run away before the Heavy can retaliate for his healer's death. Now the Heavy is alone and a much easier target than he would have been with the medic. When my team starts attacking, i can push him harder now from behind now that he has bigger worries.
I'm not in the main power, i'm more of a supporting soldier.
The Direct Hit doesn't serve this purpose to me. However, in close quarters this gun is pretty fucking awesome. Why? Well, the splash radius is smaller and in CQC the rockets = bullets pretty much. Instant hit and you won't get hurt due to splash radius being severely cut. Not to mention you deal out a dosh of damage. So it's a niche weapon to me.
The normal launcher is for those rare occasions i actually go do business with a medic healing me.
Black Box with gunboats represent.
The Direct Hit is great for taking out buildings. Besides that I like the blackbox.
I can't use the Black Box, because I always tend to fire my rockets, reload, then rush the enemy if he's not coming towards me.
With the black box it's harder, because in the process of rushing, it's all about shock and awe, you've got to get in tight and fuck them up and get out, because chances are that their teammates are around the corner. While rushing with a black box, you run out of ammo faster, and the fucking ridiculous reload time causes you to die pretty quickly if you don't get him out in the first clip. That's not always the case, but I feel like it's frustrating to use it.
The regular rocket launcher is a really good weapon all around, it's good for most, if not all, situations.
The direct hit is my personal favorite, it's devastating in the right hands, almost overpowered in the best hands. You can literally go in, juggle someone, and they'll be dead before they can figure out what the fuck just happened. It's great for CQC as Sabrina said, which makes it perfect for rushing.
Usually rocket launcher for all-around greatness. DH is pulled out usually when there's scout rushes or if there is a gunslinger engie

Black Box is a sidegrade in my opinion. Trading firepower for survivability. Which is fine with me, i actually get the Buff Banner full with the Black Box as i survive long enough to activate it. Then, i join two heavymedics and blow in the horn.
I feel like i'm finally a credit to the team :downs:
