Don't you mean Rocket Launcher? You don't take damage from your rockets with the rocket jumper, so having the Gunboats equipped with it is senseless

Black Box on defense, Normal rocket launcher anywhere else.
Dislike the Direct Hit because I can't aim.
The Black Box by far.
It prevents me from killing myself most of the time when I play soldier.
I favor the Black Box + gunboats in Arena Mode for keeping my health as full as possible, while gunboats let me get into advantages positions before engaging the enemy (since it's not as strong as the standard Rocket Launcher in direct confrontation)

I don't see how Black Box increases survivability that much.
I don't know if I'm a really agressive player, but, 45HP isn't quite enough to save me. Clearing everyone up (what often consumes 4 rockets, several buckshots and then some reloaded rockets) and then running like a chick seems to do the trick way more often.
I guess I have a roamer personality, despite of being deadly as a pocket.::v:
It's 15 hp per player hit, but all of the notifications overlap so it looks like it's only 15. Watch your health when you use it.
This is a pointless poll. The best is clearly the Valve rocket launcher.
I find the direct hit is really good for one on one direct combat, but the rocket launcher is better when you're with allies etc.
Rocket Launcher: Best overall in most situations, if you're a roaming soldier you need it.
Direct Hit: You have to practice your aim with it, but if you master it you become a very powerful pocket soldier, but at any range further than mid your rockets are pretty much shit.
Black Box: Good on a pocket soldier for burst healing while damaging, and the lack of a fourth rocket generally won't put you in huge danger situations since you'll have your shotgun.
And to approach the argument that you won't need to heal more if a Medic is healing you, I have to say that is complete bullshit. The rate of healing doesn't make you invincible, and a pocket soldier with the black box will outlive a pocket soldier with the normal RL simply due to the burst heal. Having instant health regen rather than regen per second is very significant, but so is the cost of your fourth rocket.
That said, I honestly think a Direct Hit pocket soldier would outdo a Black Box pocket.
Rocket Jumper: Useless.
I play Roaming Soldier usually, so my overall preference is the Rocket Launcher. In a pocket role I'll use the Black Box with a Shotty. I can't aim with the Direct Hit at all, so not an option for me.

i hated it too but once i found it i played with it a little while and its fun it makes a good medic on your shoulder

Normally, I go for a Black Box-Buff Banner-Equalizer combo, but as mentioned before The Direct Hit is an excellent Sentry-buster.

My dislike for the Black Box mainly stems from the whole perversion of the rules of engagement for me. Usually the whole stress of fighting an enemy comes from whether or not you can beat him before a Medic comes along or if either of you need to find a Medkit. It's that kind of planning that goes out the window when you can just plug a couple rounds into the enemy and regain the health that he managed to knock off you.
Standard rocket launcher all the way. I would possibly use the Black box over the standard launcher, but I often Krit rocket spam with a medic friend so the standard is more useful.

I use black box on maps where rocket jumping is useful, and I use it with gunboats.

If your opponent can only deal 10 - 50 damage to you during the entire time you shoot three rockets, something was done wrong.

I usually like the Black Box the most. One less rocket gets me screwed once in a while, but being able to claw back health and survive longer in enemy territory is always nice if I just keep in mind I only have 3 rockets.
