Redesign! I need to put some blue in one of those filters. It seems unbalanced towards red.
I don't suppose there's a way to indicate if it's SV_Pure or not?
The mock-up doesn't show real info, so it would show "Pure" in the tags if it was. Since I'm working on the design, I've cut out all the PHP and querying, otherwise I'd be pinging servers constantly. The next step is re-writing all of the PHP now that I know what I'm doing, then working on caching. And after that it's a matter of adding all the servers, which will probably take a long while on whichever day I choose to do it.
[t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/965202/ShareX/2015/07/2015-07-12_02-10-39.png[/t]
But servers don't indicate whether they're pure or not in the tags which is the biggest issue I've had with the server browser.
If there was a way to indicate if a server was pure before connecting to it I'd use exclusively this for finding servers.
You push on any of the filter options once, and it will exclude all servers that don't have that association. You push any of the filter options twice, and it will exclude all servers that do have that association.
Think of it as an AND/OR and NOT operator. If you're filtering the gamemodes, it will filter for servers that are associated to at least one of your selections, however if you're filtering for tags, it must meet ALL requirements.
The reason why I made this in the first place was to easily search for pure servers. :P
Can you tell me how you're checking if servers are pure, then?
I have a JSON file with a saved list of servers with certain values associated with them: IP address, gamemode, tags, etc. One of the tags is "pure".
Through PHP, I take the IP address and fill in the reamining variables so the viewer can tell which servers actually have people playing through a close-to-real-time player-count and map name.
I've opted for manual server lists and a tagging system because I can control who shows up, and with what context. If a popular set of servers wants to try and get away with having ads, they can do so, but they can also be hidden. If a set of servers wants to have reserved slots that kick players, they can do that, but they can be hidden. If a server wants to be honest with mod-friendliness and freedom from ads, you'll be able to filter straight to that server.
What do you guys think I should call this? I'm trying to think of something along the lines of <place><verb>, like FortFinder, or FortTransport or something like that without being so cheesy.
do know that if you use that i will forever call it Fort Rack
Simple question:
Will it detect Official Valve servers, like Gametracker is?

Samesies.
Hell, why not just go whole ham?

Also, in case OP misses this post as it was posted seconds before mine and it's the last post on the previous page:

Do the IP's for Valve servers change frequently?

Not exactly sure about that part, sadly - so can't answer, but I think they don't.
Caching!

That was the biggest hump. The rest of the programming is JQuery, and that's just clientside goodness. After that, it's literally just putting all the servers in.
I'm going through the server-communities as we speak with my brother before I go through the cleaned up JQuery programming, because I want to finalize my tags.

UGC-Gaming is not going on the list because their host names do not match their maps. If they're not going to be consistent, I can't and won't put them on my list.
Skial is obviously not going on the list.
LotusClan is not going on the list. If you have any objections to this, feel free to object. They seem really shifty and have absurd donor perks, and they used to fake player counts.
Here's the stipulations: faking player count is bullshit. Lying to the player is bullshit. Forcing the player into ad traps is bullshit. (I'm talking about repeatedly appearing MOTD ads.) If the server does any of this, I'm not going to put it in.

wtf @ crithack
Check out The Furry Pound and STAR_'s servers. Both have at least one constantly populated server, and have no ads or anything like that.
LvLmeup.com (previously slapmebro.com) servers should go on the list, they're great casual servers
What "gamemode" do I associate with Mario Kart maps? No clue.

Brain dead.
What "gamemode" do I associate with Mario Kart maps? No clue.
it should be "fun" in my opinion.

That implies that slapped-together tdm maps are somehow more fun than properly designed maps. It should be either "tdm" or "achievement idle".
I just threw it under DM, however I want something that's more descriptive than that, because Hightower with the objectives disabled is also proper DM, whereas Mario Kart is just lazy.

I'm currently joining a Pony server with pony models. I feel dirty.

This is going to be tagged with "brony" and "extra-downloads" for sure. I have to be fair, though. (Well, I don't, but I'm going to be anyway.)
EDIT: At least I have a reason to ban it from my server list:

If you're gonna add pony servers, add furry servers too. While you're at it, are you going to be making a tag blacklist?
If you're gonna add pony servers, add furry servers too. While you're at it, are you going to be making a tag blacklist?
I said this on the last page, and I'll say it again:
Say you want to hide all brony and furry servers from your personal list: you click once to show servers that only have that attribute, and then you click again to show servers that explicitly do not have that attribute. You would click twice on both brony and furry so that the buttons are highlighted red.
Will this only be doing America based servers? Or will you do the other regions as well/after?
I have no reason to not do other servers. While the inspiration for this project was selfish, it is in no way a selfish endeavor. I want this to be a utility for all of you, so I will try my best to maintain a fair balance between my ideas and your guys' needs.
I am focusing on servers that are within 150 latency of me at the moment.

I'd say stuff like Mario Kart, Minecraft maps and similar things should go under the tag "Silly" or something similar. Generally anything that's a clear and explicit reference to something unfitting with TF2 should go under that (maps from stuff like TFC or CS or other FPSes wouldn't have this tag, for example), as well as stuff that's just silly on its own merit, like koth_nippletwister.
I'd also just like to mention how much I appreciate that you're making this. It's so difficult to find good servers nowadays, especially ones with a decent selection of custom maps. I think it's probably part of why I don't play TF2 nearly as much as I used to.
On TopNotchClan's servers, killing medics will drop a medpack. How do I tag that? It's a gameplay modificaton, but that's a long-ass tag. I think you could refer to airblast-jumping/needle-jumping with the same tag, I just don't know what to call it. I guess Gameplay Mod fits.
Give me good game communities guys. The more I feel like we have a good set of servers to start with, the faster I release. I can continuously add and remove at will.
[editline]15th July 2015[/editline]
Yeah, I'm gonna take a different approach to how I'm doing these servers. Going through each set of servers one by one through the server list is going to be a pain in the ass. I think it's better to go with what's trusted and awesome. I will continuously explore as well.

Remind me to indicate how many bots are in the player count, because I know for sure that furry server has nothing but bots atm.

Maybe a "vanilla" tag/filter for servers that don't change gameplay or use icons to mark modified servers (like dices for rtd, a "general caution" sign for general gameplay modifications, etc).
Your system of banning servers seem very arbitrary judging from your current list of "banned servers". Some don't even have an explanation of why you're banning them.
At this point, the site seems to be a list of servers that a "self-appointed know-it-all" has made. I would suggest on coming up with a list of specific pro's and con's and sticking to them. Just because you don't like Server "A" because they have "bad players" for example, makes your whole project bad itself.
That is of course, if you're expecting others to take your whole project seriously or not. You may want to keep it to a personal project if you're going to continue down the path you've gone thus far.
