Team Fortress 2 Lore Discusssion: We make sense out of a hat-simulator

poker night is as canon to tf2 as smash brothers is for zelda. same happens for the rest of the characters in those series. its just a cool mashup and the chatting exists because its to enhace the appeal for the characters in the game.
I'd like to think that the medic is in charge of bringing back the mercs to life once they're done after the battle(given how he likes to experiment on them) rather than a system built by the engineer. it would explain why he's so keen on the optimization of this process as seen on the 2Cities trailer and the subsequent introduction of the respawn device seen in mvm.
as i see it, most of the gravel wars was fought as seen on meet the spy: small concise skirmishes where the mercs defend their intel or a given point and as soon as they're dead the battle was over.
I've written my opinion about Poker Night, but Facepunch is awful and it didn't send it, now I can't rememer what it was about... :(

Also, now that TFC is canon, whatever happened to green and yellow team? How the hell did they even exist?
Maybe the green and yellow teams were formed by mercs who didn't want to join blue or red and instead splintered off into their own teams.
I wish that the Boogaloo comic, or at least the Engineer from the future, was canon.
Also yeah, I know that a lot of people pointes it already, but I guess I'll bring it up anyways:

Soldier is holding an umbrella. My headcanon is that the Civilian died [del]and they lived happily ever after. The end.[/del] and Soldier took it as in honor of his memory.
Also, in my opinion, in the comic series TFC Medic died because he was old and stuff.

I remember someone earlier stated that they might have been sub companies of RED and BLU and were eventually just merged.
Honestly I don't think there is an idea for the respawn theory, it's a game and I don't think the valve team has actually even put thought forth into how they respawn.
In the Meet the Team Videos there is no respawning. In the comics they don't mention it at all. I don't think there is a reason or a how for respawning. You die you come back next time.
It's a game.
So far we only know Soldier can technically "respawn" due to Merasmus's "Kill me come back stronger" pill.

but that relates to merasmus, isnt like the soldier has died.
nor anyone in the comics or media has been seen respawning at all once they're dead(except of course, the 2 cities trailer)

Speaking of comics, i wish soldier was more like he was in last years halloween comic. he was still crazy, but tame crazy.
[t]http://puu.sh/8Hvl8.png[/t]
in the new/normal ones, he's a bit of a less relatable character...
I've known this for quite long time but since there was no thread here in TF2 subforum that had comics as their major points, I just kept it myself.

In here, you notice that Redmond brought two of his engineering assistants, clothes pretty much identical to TF2 Engineer.
http://www.teamfortress.com/bloodbrothers/#f=12
Now, count the amount of knife slashes. Six.
It usually takes three normal slashes from Spy's butterknife to kill an Engineer (According to TF2 wiki the damage spread can make the damage go between 36-46).
Coincidence? High possibility, but when I first realized this I thought to myself ''Oh Valve, you clever bastards''.
Too bad Halloween didn't keep those clever details. In this comic:
http://www.teamfortress.com/gravematters/#f=7
He drops the used knife on the floor, however in Helltower, both of the models have knifes in their backs. Unless for some reason their employees are so stupid they put the knives back in or something. :v:

I dunno about you, but that's a regular Thursday for me.
Don't tell the cops.
I think I figured out how teleporters work.

When it comes to the respawning in the videos/comics, I don't think they do.
Shown below, the spy is actually concerned about dying

He says it very casually like getting a splinter though. It sounds like he's done it before but just doesnt enjoy it

It sounds like he's implying that although he'll come back, it's still painful as all hell.

"Are we on the moon right now?" "Yes."
Oh my god, Soldier already knew about that update in 2012...

I'd be more worried about the corpses. In the comic they're still ''old-but-fresh'', but in Helltower they're decayed as hell.
But then again, they're in the middle of a goddamn desert, so even getting to closest phones took a while. Getting at the corpses in the middle of a desert must've taken time, and also getting back from there too.
But the level of decay-ness on the bodies still bothers me.

If I'm not mistaken a dry desert would actually preserve the bodies.

maybe its like one of those cartoon things where their bodies have been living well past their expiration date to the point to when their bodies finally did die it acelerated the decay
He says it very casually like getting a splinter though. It sounds like he's done it before but just doesnt enjoy it
It doesn't seem like that to me. It just seems casual because it's an absurd thing for him to risk his life over, even if it he being paid for it. The Soldier saying they are on the moon just makes the situation even more crazy. The Spy doesn't want to stick around and fight against a seemingly unstoppable Robot army, just to die trying to defend a MannCo building, which is likely just a Hat factory.

My guess is it's just a stylistic choice on Valve's part tbh.
Is there anything about any of the Halloween events that can realistically be considered canon?
Scream Fortress 2013 seems so weird and out of place in the story. Why would the mercs try to deliver the remains of the opposing team's employer to Hell when they were all effectively fired after their death? The robots attacked immediately after the Mann brothers died, didn't they?

Silas, Zenephiah, Monoculous and Merasmus are clearly canon. 2013 I'm unsure about.

I think there is a break between the brothers death and Gray launching his attacks. Halloween 2013 happens right after their death and officialy ends the Gravel Wars, so I take it as canon.
Also, in the MvM trailer Mann Co. looks abandoned until the mercs get in the fight, so I guess that they weren't there for the real first robot assault. Saxton also mention robots in the comic before hiring them, IIRC.

He mentions seeing them, and I can't really see any reason for him to see the robots unless it was during an attack though he never explicitly mentions an attack.

I want to send this whole post to 2007 Valve
Sometimes the soldier reminds me of Zangief in the SF movie.
seeing he's usually delusional and didn't even drank the bottled water they supplied them, its most likely to not even get paid at all since he works "for a greater cause".

I think he keeps all the money as spoils of war.
And then waste it on mayonnaise, ribs, and new shovels everytime one catches on fire. :v:
Added a playlist in OP with the Comic Narrated by The Beard.
So is demoman the only tf2 class with a full name?

Dell Conagher.
Edit:
Oh, and Lawrence Mundy. At least, that's supposed with the entire "Lawrence of Australia"
