You're being really presumptuous dude.
Sometimes you have a bad team and there's nothing that can be done about it.
Wouldn't a class limit mean that there wouldn't be any giant Engie bases
this isnt anything new since many servers already have a plugin that does this exact thing.
"Damn, there's a sentry nest and this medic has full ubercharge,i should switch to he-"
Class is full of F2P Natascha Heavies which are trying to kill a Scout.
I don't see many people using the new classlimit thing. It's off by default (that includes volvo servers) and the people who want to do class limits probably already use a sourcemod plugin.

All the servers that my server browser can found has that class limit command.
And all of them limits the class ammount in 2.
Honestly I'd rather janky anims if it meant I could have fun with my custom content again instead of stepping nude into the tepid pool of grit-water and sewage that is public community servers just so my sounds aren't a mix between a broken telephone and random class voicelines. Anyone else remember when Valve and Source were touted as a new era of modular content? With the amount of restrictions and clampdowns they're putting on non-Workshop custom content with their games it seems like they're trying to stop it over all. The Custom folder shit was just needlessly complicated and convoluted and fucked up like 10 years of modding for utterly no reason, especially the Steampipe HL1 update.
its perfectly fine if you like your mods but... what the fuck man

also the custom folder was a great addition to modding

It's equally presumptuous to act like anyone else playing your class of choice is "wasting the slot", and that you somehow deserve to have that spot instead.
And no, there are a number of things you can to if you "have a bad team": team scramble, switch servers, simply play a different class, or even - wonder of wonders - politely ask someone to switch classes with you?
I'm sorry, but you can't have your way all the time. If you can't handle the possibility that a server might vote to turn on class limits, I think you need to go stick your head in a bucket of ice water and think about life a bit.

not to mention it simplfied it, I mean...VPKs!
I mean L4D have an ingame addon that actually checks if files conflicted, though thats mostly cause their workshop you can download addons that way...
it would be nice to have something simlar for TF2 but we have third party programs that do so that would check if files conflicted.

Yeah, I was worried for a minute that they made it mandatory until I checked on it, I'm glad its not in. Class limits IMO do more harm than good, I'd be fine if Sniper and Spy had a 4 limit but no other classes did, but I'm sure that would make people upset that they couldnt go Sniper or Spy.
But really, one time I was playing Hightower, you know...a Payload race map...and we had 8 Spies. Yes, you heard right. EIGHT. We lost and all those spies were getting dominated by a Huo Heavy and a Pyro.
I'm still convinced pure was just some sort of bug or misunderstanding.
Valve created the custom folder to ease modding. Surely they wouldn't be stupid enough to then ban use of it on their official servers.
Replays.
Did valve modify their sv_pure again? The mann up server I'm on has it disabled now.
[editline].[/editline]
Huh, guess it was just that one server.
Replays.
I found this incredibly disappointing that they decided not to keep these on them. Sure, you can use mods, devices or programs to create replays without the feature, but that doesn't make the loss of the official method on the official servers any less bizarre.
So some valve servers have pure on and others don't
what
Do the changing of Valve servers to different pure settings even require an update? We're all sitting around waiting for a patch but isn't that just something they can do themselves without pushing an update?
It seems Valve managed to break or screw up how files get downloaded for TF2 clients. Seems that vtx files for models are no longer being downloaded, resulting in invisible meshes. Greatly impacting modded servers and such.

Is that why saxton hale/freak fortress is pretty much unplayable right now? I thought it was a bug with my TF2.

The solution is to pretty much download the mods assets from the actual release page on alliedmods for ones like VS Saxton Hale that depend on custom content. I'm probably gonna have to organise a download pack for my Slender Fortress servers as well. Since this only appears to be affecting new players or first time downloaders or anyone that deleted their content and tried to redownload.

Or use sourcemod to enforce a custom download table and throw in everything that is missing.

Nope, it's being blocked by a blacklist now by what I've been told and what I am seeing on the alliedmods discussion.
Specifically this thread. Which is talking about the actual downloadtable itself.

And yet people rate me dumb when I complain about Valve changing shit unnecessarily and ending up dicking players in the ass.
And yes, I'm aware the odds are this wasn't intentional. It doesn't change the fact they had to stick their fingers into the pie and ended up taking out all the fruit while trying to catch a fly. I honestly don't understand Valve's patching process, it's insane.

There's a difference between breaking something accidentally and then enforcing something no one wants. It's probably being blacklisted by the client by mistake since it looks like this is how Valve is looking to fix the upload exploits the game suffers from.
Not quite, the console versions of tf2 have a ranked mode.
To my knowledge, we still do not have an official ranked mode.
>tfw you guys are complaining about not having console stuff when we haven't received an update since 2008-2009
Also, the class limit. Why, valve? It's terrible in the console version and it'll be terrible now.
(fyi for people, going onto a server only to find out it's restricted to a certain class and having to go back to the server list is terrible in 360. it'll be the same here, except you can put (limited to xxxx) in the name)
