Major Update Speculation XXVI: Much Ado About Nothing
In all seriousness, I swear that the comics were deemed 'not canon' by Valve on one of the blogposts
As far as I know, all the comics aside from the Mac one and Death of a Salesbot are canon, but I feel like the actual "story" in the game and the story in the comics aren't always exactly alike. Sure, they coincide, but some things in one tend to be a little ooc/unexplained in the other.
Also, if the Sniper is actually killed off, who's to say respawn isn't in play here? It could just take longer to activate, or not make the body weirdly vanish, or something like that. I just feel like there should be some concrete difference explained between a possible serious death, this one, to a joke death, like Scout's in the last comic: how Scout gets back up within a little while, but apparently Sniper doesn't. (And who's to say that there's just one Sniper, anyways?)
I know it isn't canon but i think pat is a pretty believable name for pyro, not sure why.
Maybe because its so similar to "Bateman". I think we all know a pat Bateman pyro reminds us of
the blogpost for Ring of Fired way back said "At least one person dies in it!"
sniper might be dead for realsies
A TF2 update has been released. The changes are as follows
-removed Sniper as a selectable class to coincide with the latest TF2 comic.
-nerfed the Heavy to make up for the lack of a hard-counter for him
Holy hell a comic teaser that's actually nice, Damn so it will come out this summer than if it's true.
Jon Doe is not the Soldiers real name. It is a filler name, often used in place of "anonymous".
While it may have changed, Valve did originally say this multi-part comic was not tied to any update (but they also said every two months)
I believe any clues we have, need us to take a photo of the hat wall as it is now post-MyM.

Soldier's name is Jane Doe, the name for an unknown female. I suspect it's his real name, though him trying to use an anonymous pseudonym and screwing it up like that is a funny idea.
It's nice to see a teaser (a teaser that should've popped like a month after the last comic released), but can't say I'm all too hyped after such a delay.
Maybe all the enthusiasm can be saved for the very final issue.

Edit: Uterus Page King

Even so, it's even harder to get enthused for the final issue if they are adding on an extra issue while taking as long as they already have. At this point, I'd rather they finish the story sooner than later with the original plan of having the sixth issue be the last. You can only keep up the intrigue for so long, you know.
I see medic is getting straight to work with the embalming process.
Fun Fact: When a body is embalmed, the formaldehyde is pumped into the neck with a large needle called an arterial tube, typically via the carotid artery. The blood drains through another needle inserted into the jugular vein. The formaldehyde is dyed pink so the body regains a rosy color.
Therefore if the Sniper was being embalmed the traditional way, there would be two large needles sticking out of his neck. Google Images is not for the squeamish.
So it looks like he is not dead (yet) since rigor mortis (~6hrs after death) has not prevented laying the body flat on a table and there is no apparent livor mortis (postmortem lividity) or the discolored settling of the blood (~6-12 hrs after death).
There's also no blood leaking from the abdomen onto the sheet, just an unsettling paleness.
Not to sound unpleasable, but couldn't they give a sneak peak that was a little more ambiguous? How Medic was going to fit in the story was one of the few things in the comic I was still wondering about, so seeing him healing sniper kinda' kills the anticipation a bit.

Yeah but I doubt Makani is an expert on forensics/the decay of the human body.

dude stop being so disrespectful she worked hard for that forensics degree
that's why the comic took so long, the valve team went and got degrees in forensics, engineering and russian literature so they could better write the medic, engineer and heavy
Though I have to wonder if the server runs the default configs.

If the Sniper were a corpse, he would have disappeared 15 seconds ago.
Can't say I was expecting them to actually post a teaser. It almost makes them look like they care.

Don't worry, if this comic eventually comes out, the next one will take at least a year

The TF2 mercs are better to the TFC mercs alive rather than dead, because their job is to get the Administrator, they're just the means to that end.
Likewise, living people are better off for the TF2 Medic because it means he has more participants in his experiments (willing or not). He could very well just be keeping Sniper on life support so he can try grafting more organs into him to see if it works. He already has a reckless abandon for the living, see how willingly he threw Heavy in front of mass fire without knowing whether the procedure would've worked in the first place.
Also, Medic wanted to test how well his latest triumphs would perform against his earliest experiments. That wouldn't be much fun if they were already dead by the time it came to seeing them face-off.
Also, Medic is still technically a doctor. A twisted unlicensed doctor, but a doctor still. Hippocratic Oath and all.

Neat, but this "is" a comic written by someone who probably doesn't know all of that.
its actually JANE Doe

jane doe is actually a common male (unisex?) anonymous placeholder
not really strange at all, my political science teacher used that name to describe "a random person" all the time last semester

I told you guys to stop with these, they're seriously heartbreaking

June 10th is (probably) the day folks.
Eh. I don't think we'll get an update till next week.
Probably on the 16, 17th, or 18th. Last years Summer update came on a Wednesday, June 18th.
I'm guessing there may possibly be a SFM video short showing the mercs blasting off into space, and the update focuses on RD_Asteroid, and adds some space-themed cosmetics, and who knows what they'll do with weapons. If we're going into Space, I want to see Moonrakers and the like. Maybe a multi-class pistol replacement that is a laser beam like the Pomson / Bison? I dunno.
I don't think the update will be Spy vs Engie, but would be cool if it was.
