And if they remove the blank kits from people's inventories, you could still bypass that by trading the kit around onto a dummy account and then back to the player in-game, and he would then apply the kit, just like how it happened with the halloween spells.
And people pay stupid amounts for one-of-a-kind items.

Wow, I just wanna keep my game running forever until I grab myself a killstreak kit and before Valve patches this.
Too bad the only Violet sheen is fucking 50 bucks already.
I'm kinda wondering how Valve will deal with this mess.
Will they simply remove the effects and everyone who applied them is up a creek, or will they actually apply the effects so the sheen works with the cosmetic, but delete all the unused kits, so the value of the hats glitched goes up tenfold?
Or will they just compensate people another way like "Oh we took your sheens away but here, have a medal." And the medal is a giant plate sized one that reads "I spent $100 on a professional kit for my unusual hat, and all I got was this lousy button."

I totally forgot different colours were different prices, put a violet one on my shades as the kits dropped down to what I'd paid for the fabricator + parts so couldnt sell for profit...
They might not, some items have stayed around after being glitched, look at the Painted cowmanglers. or Vintage Bill's hats. heck one these items hit circulation or too many are produced, they usually stop the glitch and leave the glitched items alone. (most of these are abusing steam's system.) Or how strange big earners can have long distance kills. they didn't remove the strange part, they just fixed the glitch and left what happened in that little window of time, alone. so in this case, by leaving this glitch open for so long it's only them to blame. and so they should as it has been standard. But they did make Glitched Circuit boards, as a token of sorts.
it's a fix related to crashes, move along nothing to see here.

This might be optimistic but, I think they're not letting the gun cases drop yet because they're changing all the skins after hearing that the community doesn't like them.

It may well be they want to sidestep the complaint of "omg people who didnt do contracts yet haf extra week 4 more craets, no fair" and just make the fix by the time the second week's contracts roll out.

I think at this point valve should make a new item quality for these items now.
Or just simply make everything that was given a killstreak kit that cannot normally be killstreaked strange.
