The Sidney Sleeper has been actually nerfed (the jarate apply for less then 3 seconds now)
Back then, it was 8 seconds.

It changes depending on charge amount.

so?
old sydney required an extra second, but it was still 8 sec
if you shoot within the very same time lapse as before, today it does like 3 sec instead of 8
nobody ever wanted this anyhow. not that way.

At least you can be somewhat more agressive in a single combat/panic situations at the cost of less team support efficiency. Don't know if that was for the best though.
Probably too optimistic, but - we should keep a note that the classic mercenaries in the comic series are still a thing (If we follow the chronology) - and there's probably a possibility of having a some sort of a "TF2 VS TFC"-themed mercs update.
-oh yeah vr I'm dumb-
SteamVr update, don't panic
Gun-mettle would have been the best update ever if it had fixed mat_phong 0 breaking australiums. Without that, this update is now dead to me

they sort of did fix that though, r_rimlight is no longer marked as a cheat (altho there's still some shiny-ness I guess)
I wonder if Valve have just forgotten that the Sun-on-a-Stick and the Sharpened Volcano Fragment exist. The SoaS got rebalanced once, but that's it. After countless balance updates they've both been ignored. The only thing that's happened to them in 4 years is getting Collector's chemistry sets and killstreak kits. They aren't even strange yet.

So it's even less a support rifle and more a plain 150 bodyshot machine.

If you need to rely on that or dx8, your computer is in desperate need for an upgrade
And that's advice from 2010.

I think mat_phong 0 just looks better in general.
Crossing my fingers for the dispenser disguise to finally be a real thing and not just a taunt.

i don't rely on it all, smartass. I think it It looks cool. Phong is a gaudy white shine on everyones back, i like it cartoony.

Well, considering Valve authored the world of TF2 with phong in mind, I wouldn't expect them to go out of their way to support mat_phong 0.

If multiple people in the community have whipped up various fixes to the issue, and valve decides to blacklist mods on their own server, it seems only fair they implement a fix themself. I'm not demanding an unusual here, i didn't think it was sinful to want them to fix bugs in their game just because not everyone uses it. Any excuse that "it's not part of the original package" or "Not enough people use it" hardly changes the fact that it's a seemingly easy fix for community members but unfortunately made difficult by the fact they enforce sv_pure 1 on valve servers, which mind you include mann up and gun mettle event servers- two places i frequent that i can't accomplish on community servers.

TIP works for me on valve servers and it basically dims down phong.
Time for a throwback but does Pyrovision work on the new maps? I just remembered it existed, I figure it's something valve wouldn't support anymore.

I personally always thought mat_phong 0 just looked more stylized.
I think mat_phong 0 makes TF2 look lifeless, the TIP skins make the phong look lovely though
Update inbound?
Oh boy an update

Don't really see it working, given that you're forced to stand still, as a prop that enemies are drawn towards, who will realize you're a spy the moment they touch you.
No update for me yet?

They're talking about the HLDS.
[QUOTE=HLDS @ 4:54 PST]We're working on a mandatory update for TF2. We should have it ready soon.

I thought that was rimlighting? Rimlighting makes some things look like shit for the sake of identifying between player and prop.
I personally love it though. I really like how TF2 uses it as well as Mario Galaxy. It gives things a really nice atmosphere.

Fun fact, Galaxy was 1 month away from TF2's release date. Really gives you a good time frame on how old TF2 is.
