So as always, reddit is bunch of fucking pussies. Thread with the video got to the front page and was taken down by mods with reasoning: "We are not supposed to see this". There's a good reason why Google leaves this disclaimer on unlisted YouTube videos, and you just said "lol no fuck you guys!" anyway:

I kinda regret seeing the video now. Its no longer a suprise, because when we see that big count down timer, Ill know what it will be
Well, atleast valve is a bit better to hold secrets than e.g Nintendo. Just look at all the smash leaks.
so is this an official thing or fanmade or robotic boogalo

I'm honestly asking, you might have and if so that's fine. But if not it might be an idea to. If I was the Invasion people right now I'd be embracing it, you know? Yeah, leaks are shitty and it really sucks that this happened but don't let it ruin your spirits! Anyone who's ever seen a leak knows that trying to hide it again doesn't work. Here's what I'd (try to) do in their shoes. Whip up a basic update teaser page. The best you can do in a day. Crunch the hell out of getting that video to the best you can make it within 24 hours (it seems very close to being finished anyway, honestly if I saw that on an update page I wouldn't be complaining). Ask Valve (or even Kritzkast if the update isn't as official as we thought) to put a little hidden UFO on their website that when clicked sends you to said teaser page with the video on it. At the end of the video put a message saying "Coming later this year!" (or a different message if it's 2016) as to not get people confused about the timeframe. (Edit: Also yes as CaptainDedede says maybe also a little caption in there to temper expectations a little bit, too). In a day or two this turns a (albeit sad and annoying) leak into a small hype building machine. Sure you lose the surprise of the video on the update day but it doesn't matter because you've already lost it anyway. I'm not gonna call what's going on on reddit a censorship issue or whatever because that's just silly but in my personal opinion trying to hide something like this just makes people sad they don't have a place to discuss how awesome it is (because the video is really good) and by the time the update actually comes around it will be pushed to the side a bit as a ton of people will have already seen it.
prestream, VNN tells the mods to time out anyone that says anything about "the leak" and now everyone in chat is like "WHAT LEAKED" fuck
-snip-
so is this an official thing or fanmade or robotic boogalo
It's community made, not confirmed to be official yet. I'd recommend not going around telling people though. The best way to go about it, is if your interested look on the past few pages to find out what the commotion is, but understand and respect those involved by keeping it to yourself. Thanks. Also, I felt genuinely bad for looking at the stuff, so I'd like to apologize to whoever was involved in the creation for viewing it before it was ready. Not a fan of viewing leaked footage for anything really, respecting the creator and its work. Was very exciting and high quality, look forward to seeing more about it when its ready to be talked about.
Anyone who's ever seen a leak knows that trying to hide it again doesn't work. Mentioning that things may change as the development progresses. So that it will avoid a repeat of the over excitement of End of the Line before.

I think if people see the word "update" they'll automatically start having expectations for new maps and weapons and that sort of thing.
remember that one time after meet the makers was released and he had the easter egg and everybody thought it was an update and everybody fanboyed so hard that he hopped on fp just to tell us theres probably not gonna be another? its that 2.0, its just a community thing, relax

Video just made private
imo, you're running a big risk of it being leaked if you have it unlisted on youtube. As a recent example, Fallout 4's first teaser thumbnails. Could keep a better track of who you distribute out files to through e-mail(not so much but still)/dropbox/any cloud service that lets you share with a certain group or just individuals and if one of those files leak out you know who got what and you can figure out whodunnit.
Someone want to enlighten me as to what the hell happened? I didn't get a chance to see whatever leaks were around.
Someone want to enlighten me as to what the hell happened? I didn't get a chance to see whatever leaks were around.
A pretty well made trailer for the potential Invasion update got leaked on Youtube, people trying to cover it up. Which is probably to late to do.

Klohto is still gonna remain banned for the way he acted though.

All we know is that it's a community project that's been being worked on secretly for at least a year, was teased by KritzKast, and has no known connection to Valve.
Not really hip to reddits jive but couldn't he just make another account with little to no repercussions?
Theoretically yes, but you can get shadowbanned on all of your accounts (or worse) if you use them to repeatedly evade bans. As of a month or so ago, that's also stated in the ban message delivered:

Unless I'm misremembering the info (and if I am please some correct me, don't want to spread misinfo) I'm not sure how much more obvious it could be without them outright saying it.
I was more talking about BANG!'s posts a month ago around MyM where he talked about how it "started as an open community project" and how the guardian pyro guys (of which harry101uk is part of I believe) literally talked about how they are working on a trailer for a community made update.
Did they specify it was actually an update for the game? Unofficial stuff like Night of the Living Update has been called "community updates" since long before Valve actually had the community do updates for them. The point is: Don't hype this up, don't tell people about it unless they have a gun to your head. Nothing to see here yet.
Harry is working on this?
the video was on his channel and he was in the vid's credits.
afaik stuff like night of the living update is referred to as a "community update", despite not being a proper, valve-endorsed update. Yes, a lot of the items got added, but it's not actually because of any deal with Valve, they were just a bunch of really good items that caught Valve's attention. There's nothing that confirms this to be anything except that. A community effort to make a lot of themed content in hopes that Valve adds a bunch of it. It could very well be more than that, as Valve has collaborated to add official community updates like Robotic Boogaloo and EotL, but as of yet there's nothing proving it to be so.
I had the same exact thought, but the TF2 Invasion collection on the workshop kinda changed my mind into thinking that it may be real. I'm not hyping myself yet though. Also, the secret kritzkast thingy implies they were working on this for quite some time.
How does a community-made collection of items for a community contest at all indicate official connection to an update? I'm telling you guys, don't hype up an update when there's no confirmation from Valve that it even exists.
