Major Update Speculation XXVI: Much Ado About Nothing - Games

So, anyone remember these two from the Gun Mettle comic? [IMG]http://i.imgur.com/Qx4SKyy.png?1[/IMG] They look very scifi, anyone else thinking these are the two Astronauts from the leaked trailer? Or have some relevance to RD-asteroid's update if not Invasion? Gun Mettle seemed to have a theme of Asteroid teasing.

I get that it shouldn't have been leaked, but that doesn't mean that it's not good speculation material. MUS looks at leaks all the time. It's too late to get rid of it.

What if the alien don't want to take over the Earth with violence or xeno-engineering humans, but selling hats and cosmetics? Look, it is not required to do something as complex as a full update, instead a space theme halloween with video + hats. Where in the video the alien Mothership is a gigantic mall and the lesser ship mini stores, ready to set on Earth and drive other companies out, you cant compete against trends or mass productions... Kinda a cultural victory in Civilization 5

So sure they don't have to do the nicer thing and can go view it now, if they are that interested they can just search it up on youtube. I'm not saying people aren't allowed to see what's there, its perfectly in their right and its a awesome trailer. My point is just to understand that people were working hard on this trailer, and to respect it wasn't ready to be announced so soon, purely out of kindness.

I think it's better not to talk about it and to not build up too much hope about this being a real update. Out of kindness and preventing heartbreak when you realize it was nothing but a "night of the living update" if it comes down to that. Unless Valve wants to come out and say "Yep, another major community update around the corner, look out for that. No ducks this time, we promise. It's going to be out of this world"

I don't think anyone will mistake a video with community members credited at the end for Valve-made. It bugs me that people are going around saying "update confirmed!" though. Even if this [I]does[/I] turn out to be something, which seems unlikely since, assuming Cactus Canyon and Asteroid come out this year and aren't part of the same update, the update schedule will be super-cramped (also, I vaguely recall someone related to the Invasion project confirming Valve wasn't involved when people noticed the BLUBOOK group a long time ago), I'm worried people will overhype themselves again like with Robotic Boogaloo (ok, maybe that was just me) and EOTL and won't appreciate the team's work for what it is.

I think if you're describing the supposed invasion update as 'unlikely' at this point, you should probably re-look at the evidence. That's crossing the line from being cautious to being silly. Worry about the over-hyping problem if it happens because otherwise you're trying to fix a problem that isn't there.

All that invasion stuff on the workshop looks insanely cool. What I'm worried about the most is how much of it is going to get cut from the update.
