Had this not been leaked, and the update a surprise - we wouldn't build up hype or worry about cut items until AFTER the update (which is basically what happened with EOTL).
Agreed. A shame. I feel bad for those guys now.

This is a bit off topic, but I just thought of something. Are the contracts generated at random or are they in the game's files. If so, did anyone ever compile a list of them?
Removing all this Invasion situation, there was anything interesting that hints some interesting features or updates on the lastest update?

Matchmaking beta pass and lobby UI. That's... about it?
Wait, there are aliens in TF2 now?
Who would have thought, they were onto the merc's this entire time!

I'm really hoping Valve makes this an actual community update.
Space and future cosmetics/weapons have always had me googly-eyed.
We have been dealing with Aliens for a while
though

I'll post the gist of it here:
THIS mirror of the trailer went up, supposedly uploaded by a Valve Employee.
The binary in the description leads to THIS video, which features the MVM music remixed with the alien music.
"The Title being "invade me" and the description being "it comes"
Combing these three codes then seperating them by their root denominators makes this phrase:
mvm_invasion.bsp"

What evidence is there that that was uploaded by a Valve employee? Just looks like an empty youtube channel.

I'm skeptical too. But the new music sounds really official (at least official sounding enough that it would be hard to make within the time of the original leak and this one)

some people go to great lengths to make something out of nothing.
This is bizarre. If this is a real, Valve-made ARG I'll be excited
What evidence is there that that was uploaded by a Valve employee? Just looks like an empty youtube channel.
It has the same name as an uploader who leaked 2013's unreleased halloween video.
Also what does "Combing these three codes then seperating them by their root denominators makes this phrase" mean?
That's not the same account as the Valve employee, though.
THIS is the Valve employee's account, the one that uploaded the Halloween short.
THIS is a totally separate account with the Invasion trailer mirror. They have the same "name", but that doesn't prove anything, since last time I checked, you could set your account name to anything. It's probably just someone pulling our legs.

Pretty short for an ARG. The Meet the Pyro and MvM ones were a lot longer.
Removing all this Invasion situation, there was anything interesting that hints some interesting features or updates on the lastest update?
Powerhouse has metal cubes from asteroid, rockets, and poopy joe references.
Huh. Well that was a neat 200 posts.
Let's see what happens a bit down the line. If this becomes official, then it's for sure a Halloween thing.
do I have to repeat myself about how making an "alien" mode for mvm is inconceivable for a limitless ammount of technical reasons
it's not happening.

It's fan-made, just like the channel

Also what does "Combing these three codes then separating them by their root denominators makes this phrase" mean?
no idea, but the description of the "invade me" vid directly translated to the map name, not "it comes."
I feel sorry for anyone involved with the trailer.
Shame people have to be cunts.
Loose lips sink (space)ships.
man, I hope they release the sci-fi male/female model
If anything positive is to be made from this whole leak nonsense, it is that the trailer was really well made and very entertaining. For a community made video it felt like it was made by Valve themselves.
High-quality animation hardly indicates Valve's involvement. Just look at the Saxxies/EotL.
I guess we can say that this whole thing was somewhat of an invasion of privacy. I'm sorry, it sounded way better in my mind.
High-quality animation hardly indicates Valve's involvement. Just look at the Saxxies/EotL.
It was more than the animation, the [sp]lifeform[/sp] joke was actually really funny, and it was Valve humor.
High-quality animation hardly indicates Valve's involvement. Just look at the Saxxies/EotL.
Valve videos will always stand out from fanmade ones. At least up until this point, they have.
EotL was good but you could tell it wasn't a Valve video from the animation quality. The effects and music was what could've sold it as a Valve video.
Talking about the possible Invasion update - When do you think the project was started?
At least 18 months ago. There was talk of a third party contest on TF2maps months before the MvA contest actually started
Valve sfm will always stand out because it's literally what they're paid to do
Valve sfm will always stand out because it's literally what they're paid to do
Mcvees team was handed a sum of cash and told to make EOTL his dayjob. Of course that doesnt change the fact valve is an organized team who work on a grander scale with much more collective experience, but still
