What are the chances of a decent major update this year?
Fixed that for you
Raffle time! Rate what you think tonight (June 17 Valve time) will bring, if anything. Changing your vote at anytime causes your prize to be one refined should you win. One standard Mann Co. Key to the winner. -Summer update tonight! Content doesn't matter, so long as it is the standard summer update fare. Includes new comic. - Standard weekly (lol) patching/bug fixing/updating localization files update. - Blog post updating us on the progress being made on whatever. Includes new comic. - No update, not even localization update. EDIT: Polling closed. Will get a randomized winner here shortly.
if we're getting a major update this month, it would make more sense for it to be next week instead, to put some space between it and the summer sale you know, give everyone's wallets some time to recover
What are the chances of that there will be something "beta" in the summer update? Furthermore, what if the whole update itself would be marked as such?
A beta update? Dear god...
A beta update? Dear god...
Eh, thats really what Smissmas was, and no one really had a problem with it
Eh, thats really what Smissmas was, and no one really had a problem with it
yeah, except for the 3 new non-beta weapons, the 28 non-beta cosmetics, and the nine non-beta rebalanced weapons
Give us a beta competitive mode and I'll be happy.
Give us a beta competitive mode and I'll be happy.
What this game needs right now, is ANOTHER beta?
What this game needs right now, is ANOTHER beta?
for me, yes
What this game needs right now, is ANOTHER beta?
A beta is better than nothing honestly.

New patch. An update to Team Fortress 2 has been released. The update will be applied automatically when you restart Team Fortress 2. The major changes include: Fixed an issue causing dedicated servers to occasionally hang on shutdown Hammer tools: Fixed vbsp -onlyents and -onlyprops compiles failing Updated localization files Updated the Maps Workshop Beta Fixed an issue causing clients or servers installed in long path names to be unable to load workshop maps Fixed an issue causing clients to occasionally be unable to launch a listen server using a workshop map via the 'map' command Fixed an issue causing the initial map load on dedicated servers to fail if the map is a workshop map Fixed dedicated servers requiring a reboot to properly handle updated workshop maps if the map name changed
guess the summer update is next week then
guess the summer update is next week then
They would've released crates with no keys in today's patch if that was the case
They would've released crates with no keys in today's patch if that was the case
the love and war crates say otherwise
They would've released crates with no keys in today's patch if that was the case
they could always do a love and war update sort of thing with the crates again, and not release them until the update comes out i remember those crates being pretty successful actually
They could also do a sf2014, with crates being sold instead of keys.

It has been 1 year and 1 day since are last major update. Not counting Smissmiss and Halloween. This is the longest Major update drough. The second being the gap between The Manniversary Update and Pyromania (8 months 14 days.) Remember how awesome 2012 turned out to be though? There where 3 quality major updates (Pyromania, Mann vs Machine, Mecha Update.) Hopefully thats how this year will be. Spy Vs Engi starting us off, then a competitive update, and then Invasion to finish the year. That would be awesome.
nvm
You can't just ignore two major content updates and say this is the longest time without an update. Whether or not they gave you content that you wanted or liked, they both added large bits of content - cosmetics, maps, and game modes - that makes them major content updates.

The smissmiss update added new weapons so i guess there is that.
You know just because it's in beta doesn't mean it doesn't count as content. Obviously Mannpower has a lot of problems, but asteroid is a really fun gamemode that changes things up a lot. As far as I can tell it's pretty much finished save for the end of the artpass. Considering how little people seem to care about cosmetics, I'd say that asteroid is finished in every way that matters.
It has been 1 year and 1 day since are last major update. Not counting Smissmiss and Halloween.
"It has been a year and a day since a major update if you don't count two major updates." :pwn:
"It has been a year and a day since a major update if you don't count two major updates." :pwn:
fuck you, you damn well know that we haven't had a major update since the medic update
Regardless, 6 months of no content is pretty damn ridiculous.
I'm choosing to be dangerously optimistic that the lack of content means that we will get lots of content released with little time between
Gebbors, add me and get your prize!
Oh wow, I was exactly the last thats just one step from being the first, right
I'm choosing to be dangerously optimistic that the lack of content means that we will get lots of content released with little time between
Well we do know of a lot of content that may be coming in a future major update: Spy vs Engie (probably new weapons for both classes) Competitive Matchmaking Mannpower moving out of beta Final versions of Cactus Canyon and Asteroid New Valve made map shown in Meet Your Makers PL_Borneo most likely going official If most of those things make it in the next major update that's going to be a fairly decent major update.
Has everyone forgotten that for the past 3 years, the first 6 months have no major updates (besides boogaloo)? 2011 was really the last year we got any major updates before summer (hatless/replay update).
