Anyone kind enough to link me to this other thread, so i can see what is going on there too?
I am, as the join date indicates, pretty new to facepunch, and i dont really know how to find it. :7

If Spy vs Engi is a three day update it'd made sense for it to begin either today or tomorrow to coincide with the Steam sale.
It would have also made sense to have the comic release around 3 months ago.
I wouldn't get your hopes up if I were you.
Imagine Valve suddenly doing the ultimate surprise which is
LOVE AND WAR DAY 3
1 YEAR EARLIER
Why are people acting like Spy vs Engi is right around the corner all of a sudden?
Has anything in particular happened to indicate that that is the case?

summer sale right around the corner
usually an update right before then
what else besides spyvengy could it be?
I assume that's what most people are thinking, but in reality it could be any number of things
Hey, I'll take another completely random Valve update just as happily as Spy vs Engi, I'm just assuming it's SvE for now since that's the main one we know about.
Rate me clocks if someone already posted this, but that skull on the top hat.

Added more taunts. And removed more maps for being "too confusing" to new players.

its just 2fort and goldrush now
Meanwhile, another small TF2 crossover has happened. Dungeon of the Endless, a tower defense/roguelike game by Amplitude Studios, was doing a free-weekend event, where the more players playing any of their Endless games, the more free in-game content unlocked. One of the goals was TF2 characters and items for Dungeon of the Endless, and it's just been released.

Interesting, looks like a good game. Some of the designs of the parts of levels shown in the screenshots look a lot like the picture of the new map from valve's hat wall, which is interesting. It had a central point like object in the middle, perhaps the map is something to with this game? It's a little too hard to figure out the context of the image though due to being blurry, can't see if its space related or not. Might be terribly wrong with this however.
Whats also interesting is that its called the austrailum update, seeing as that's its set in space, and the latest story element of the comics is that the last austrailum supply is now in space. There is also some hidden back story said to be in the update, might be worth looking into, might be non-cannon however.
I think it's safe to say that this game has absolutely nothing to do with the upcoming update.

How can you tell?
How can you tell?
I suppose, was just trying to shape out the design of the main point, it seemed like a central object on the point or a crystal of some kind. But your right, there really isn't any way to tell from how small the image is.

Yeah, your most likely right there. Just a bit of me over-thinking things. Still, the game looks great, might check it out soon.

Can't wait for someone to claim that Pyro's real name is Pat Bates :v:
Good name to pick though. Pat could be Patrick or Patricia.
Classmates used to play this game in programming class whenever they were done with their work. It's a pretty good game, nice to see it get some spotlight.

Still hopeful for that July 4th -ish release.
[sp2] Which would support my theory on release dates for new comic issues [/sp2]
Can we start speculating again or is this still a non-speculation zone?
I'll certainly keep my eyes open this week, and if nothing happens we can all just go into a circle and cry.
Together.

To the surprise of no one, the leak confirming the Summer Sale taking place this week was true, which means the chance of a Summer update is all that more likely to occur sometime this week. If nothing else, we at least have that to speculate on.
Didn't last year's summer update go up like the day before (or even the morning of?) last year's summer sale? That would mean either a Wednesday or Thursday release, which would be consistent with an update page today.

Has it been since Love & War since we've had an update with many days of update pages?

I don't think so, if there was it must have been forgettable.
Well, tehnically, every large summer update since 2010 has had multi-day reveals. Even the 2013 summer update, though it lacked its own update pages, had multi-day blogposts specifically talking about incoming changes and additions.
Traditions do eventually get broken, of course, but I'd say we can hope for at least a 2-day reveal.
Remenber we also have Windows 10 around the corner and TF2 will need an update for that.
What's up with the random 1mb update? SteamVR thing again?
Should I set my hype countdown to 72 hours? I mean, we should expect one of those tf2 timer pages like with the previous update, if not a blogpost by wednesday.

We shouldn't expect nothing. There is absolutely nothing that hints on an upcoming major update and no, the fact that all previous summer updates happened before the sale does not mean that the same applies to the summer update of this year or that we will even get one.
For all we know Spy vs Engineer is the winter update.

Remember when spy and engie was supposed to be coming out "two cites soon" :v: I'm still optimistic something will happen... i mean they can't let this game go though a drought for the whole summer. I notice that tf2 updates in the summer gets the most attention also. so its possible.
