By the way, can the "#6 should come a lot faster" claim be trusted?
Well it probably depends if the DOTA2 teams decides they need more comics done.

That comic is pretty much done already tho. :v:
I dreamt about a "5 maps" update.
It can easily happen with the current map workshop.
If only the recently added maps were playable on valve servers... (Standin, Snakewater)

Well it seems pretty likely that PL_Borneo is going to go official in the next major update, it was accidentally made public that the developer of the map uploaded it to the cosmetic workshop by Valve's request (probably to setup payment for map stamps) and then updated it. Hopefully it's not the only map they make official though, there's a lot of really good community map that Valve could buy.
I'd absolutely love love love to hear a legitimate opinion on this from someone on the tf team
any rational person on the team would be along the lines of "i hate how little we get done, we fall out of relevancy so easily just by not commiting to things and postponing for weeks at a time. It's just that we don't have the manpower or drive to be done in a timely manner."
Knowing valve, their realistic answer would either be "we're working at a pace we feel is best" or flat out " "
"it'll be done when it'll be done we won't say anything because we don't want to hold deadlines we cannot meet and we are afraid of angering our player base!!!!
in fact we won't say anything at all regarding anything happening at valve. one day we'll just put everything on the table with no warning whatsoever because that is totally not confusing and it's exactly what players want!!!!"
I always tried to keep some objectivity regarding what's happening at Valve because I don't know how they work but I can't anymore, there's no way everything is right at Valve. This stubbornness to keep everything in the dark is a fucking dumb decision and needs to go away. But it's been there for the last 10+ years, who am I kidding.
What if valve internally is actually super strict about deadlines and the moment they miss one all work for that deadline is binned. So they might actually work super hard but miss a deadline at 90% completion and just start all over the next day, resulting in us getting nothing
[sp]We all know that won't happen[/sp]
the only thing with a clear, defined deadline are sales and the international.

This isn't how map stamps work. Plus, Sean is already receiving payment from stamps for other maps, so adding a stamp wouldn't require him to do anything with the workshop.
Of course, if that's not how Map Stamps work, then that asks the more interesting question: what is it for, then?
Personal guess is CSGO style operations.
maybe it wasn't accidental then? it could be their sick way to tease us

But that's how every other valve game workshop contribution works tho, it wouldn't be too far fetched to think they want to integrate maps to their automated systems in order to make it easier to use for everyone?
-snip-
I'm sorry for info i didn't check good enough
I genuinely don't understand how you can say "May or June " and then say that their ballpark estimate was wrong by several months. A professional comic artist would be in heaven with that kind of lack of responsibility
My bet is Late September and it will be small.

Its possible it was submitted for the record and contractual/legal reasons, the workshop item can serve as proof and for a way for Valve to license the content from the contributor vice versa.
Calling it now one of the comics will be released February 29th
If they miss it, we're waiting 4 years?
Sounds about right
Surprised they don't have a separate ragtag team of artists only really working on the Doter2 comics so the wait for the TF2 comics wouldn't be so asinine. I take it that they don't have the same choice as most Valve employees to switch over to projects they want to work on when they really got to push out a comic or two for Dota and considering how possibly small the comics team is anyways.
We are releasing our anger in wrong place people,
Remember what happend when people got angry about diretide or paid steam mods
Valve listened to commmunity...
These days Valve seems to barely care unless some kind of big pressure from customers happens
I'm not saying we should do things the rough and spamish way like people in diretide did, but perhaps we could create online petition and send that to Valve or GabeN?
That's the only way i see communication with Valve these days sadly...

diretide and paid mods were presumably much larger events with naturally much larger backlash. The closest tf2 has gotten to that was EOTL which left valve with a massive slash on their back with "snowplow" etched in their skin.
You can't just stand in a crowd yelling you want them to go back to frequent updates, valve knows they'll get money whether or not they listen. If you want to rile up the community, valve has to fuck something up to catch their attention. The issue is, they aren't doing anything and therefore have nothing to complain about besides the fact that they aren't doing anything. You could argue the comics are late but it's not like the game developer part of valve has any part in that anyways
What if they forget about our halloween update?
They'd make a blog post "apologizing", make a shitty joke excuse, and then do nothing
What if they forget about our halloween update?
to be fair, looking at last year's halloween update, we wouldn't really be missing much
if they do what they did for dota, and skip the halloween update entirely to get more work in on something a whole lot better (in dota's case, the source 2 port) then i don't think i'd complain at all
to be fair, looking at last year's halloween update, we wouldn't really be missing much
I have somehow managed to miss every single halloween event since Manor and the Horseless Headless Horseman, what exactly would people want in a good halloween update?

A boss or a map that doesn't suck.

A good map, for starters.
edit: late

A map that isn't a mini-sentry shitfest
So a halloween update being shit really just comes down to "sd_doomsday sucks balls" ??
taunts every week
