Valve is actualy manipulating us with small teasers, long update wait time and stuff, so we would be more involved into one, when it would come
not really. not at all.
Since making updates and shit takes so much time i need to ask,
How many people are working on tf2 right now?

about 20 or so people, according to the guys who went to valve and talked about the competitive matchmaking

It's really amazing how little work a team of 20 people can produce.

0. They're having a lunch right now.

stuff we know they're working on:
- competitive matchmaking (not just the technical side of it, but also all the logistics of it, like what comp format they should use/base it off of, how players should be matched up/how player skill should be determined, what the optimal number of players is, what the barrier for entry should be, and so on)
- i think competitive matchmaking was supposed to come with a dota-style stream list in the main menu too
- map workshop fixes and tweaks (it's still in beta after all)
- rd_asteroid_final (if there's still any detailing left to do after 7 months, otherwise move this to the "stuff they've finished" pile down below)
- another new map, the one from the meet your makers hat wall
stuff they've been working on for a long time and just finished
- the map workshop
stuff that they might also be working on, or might've possibly scrapped
- pl_cactuscanyon_final (it hasn't been touched in almost a year so i don't know)
- spy vs. engie war (apparently a big part of it was completing csgo-style missions in these "war journals" they'd sell to you - after how much a flop the duck journals were, it's possible they could've dropped it)
i don't know, it's not like they're sitting around doing nothing
their entire workday is just a huge lunch break, and then there's vacations, holidays, etc. and sometimes, occasionally, when they're out of pizza or something, they go like "oh shit, we need to get something done", and then they just slap something on a knee and call it an update. and then its just complete radio silence again
after how much a flop the duck journals were
Haha what duck journals sold like crazy in spite of how many people hated them.

Well, monitoring forums is purportedly an integral part of their job description. Considering how little consumer discontent seems to have motivated them, I think it's safe to say they do actually spend time doing what amounts to nothing.

25k in existance according to http://stats.tf/item/1126/Duck_Journal
25k in existance according to http://stats.tf/item/1126/Duck_Journal
...Seriously, now?
25k in existance according to http://stats.tf/item/1126/Duck_Journal
i like almost 80% of them never got past level 1
i like almost 80% of them never got past level 1
pretty much how I believe it went.
"wow its new! I'll buy this new thing"
"it doesn't do anything! oh well i'll just forget about it"
repeat a thousand times
25k in existance according to http://stats.tf/item/1126/Duck_Journal
Actual number sold's a lot higher than that. Stats.tf numbers are way below valve numbers.

Yup, and even then, 25k isn't exactly a trivial amount.
Oh boy, did someone say cactus canyon? Remember all those cacti that were added in nearly every update of the map? It was a fun little thing.
Always got a laugh out of where they stuck the next one. especially the one on the train, everyone was confused about where the next one would be then it flew by on the side of the engine with a smug smirk on its face
Man, it sucks that Cactus Canyon hasn't been touched in a while, I honestly prefer it over rd_asteroid. Hopefully it isn't canned or anything.
Cactus Canyon is super canned. It's so canned that it's been resealed, had its label reprinted and glued on to the can, shipped back to the store, and then bought by some paranoid conspiracy theorist who stuck it on a shelf in his old, damp and unused bomb shelter.
I don't think there is any way Cactus Canyon has been canned after what happened with Snowplow. I can't even imagine the hate Valve would get for removing a map from the game.
I Imagine we'll get the final version as part of the next major update.
New week guys
I can't wait for all the nothing valve has in store for us
25k in existance according to http://stats.tf/item/1126/Duck_Journal
Not at liberty to give an exact number but it's considerably higher.
More ducks were sold in 6 weeks than Hoodoo stamps during its entire lifetime
The number of duck tokens sold is only a few thousand lower than number of journals.
stuff that they might also be working on, or might've possibly scrapped

I heard about the spy vs engie references in the files, where was any reference made to csgo style missions?
Given how well the ducks did (despite what a tiny number of very vocal whiny bitches will say) that sounds like it'll do way better
...Turns out they actualy scrapped an idea of TF2, and are trying to add Ironsights

Can confirm. Duck journals were a lot more popular than people think.

I think a lot of people confuse not liking something with it being unsuccessful. A lot of people in this very thread complained about the duck journals even though they bought them. If you think sometime's a problem, vote with your wallet!
Can confirm. Duck journals were a lot more popular than people think.
I technically got mine for free as I sold a whole pile of stuff I didn't want on the market after I went on a Steam badge-crafting binge.
I only ever used it to annoy engineers as I would use the Cloak and Dagger, hide around their buildings and constantly quack over and over. It's quite surprising how paranoid players get when they hear strange noises...
They were fantastic noise makers. I know I use mine for that.
People don't hate the duck journal, people hate that the duck journal was the most significant part of the update (Well and presumably that it was a pay-to-enter event with no real prize, but that didn't stop purchases)
