Man, if they really released an Update this week they'd wombo combo with the Terraria 1.3 Update, I'd have so much stuff to play and so little time.
In my opinion this week would be a good week for some...lunacy.
so whens the killer solo becoming an all-class taunt?
so whens the killer solo becoming an all-class taunt?
I would love to see a taunt where each class play an instrument of their choosing. Think it could be a neat little partner taunt as well. [editline]fuck[/editline] [sp]Band Fortress 2[/sp]
In my opinion this week would be a good week for some...lunacy.
Yeah, lunacy of the kind where more people think we are actually going to get any notable update. :v:
Maybe they're doing a crazy art pass / overhaul of cactus canyon, making it look gorgeous. It started out with that plain tileset without much going on, other than the secret cacti.
If anything big is going to happen, it would have to be early this week to avoid conflicting with 4th of July. Next week may also be out if they plan on doing another promotion for San Diego Comic Con.

As well as more content.

There's nothing preventing an update from being 4th of July themed. A major update will require at least one day of bug fixes. It is very rare for a major update to be released on a weekend, let alone a Saturday and a major holiday. If Valve observes most national holidays, this Friday will also be a day off since the 4th falls on the weekend. If a major update is planned at all for this week (or next), it would have to be released within the next two days.
Oh please, we all know valve will take their twice monthly "we need a vacation from our last vacation" vacation on the fourth of july

Soldier with the Trumpet, Pyro with the Guitar, Demoman with the Bagpipes, Heavy with the Tuba, Engineer with the Guitar (Obviously), Medic with the Violin, Sniper with the Saxophone, and IDK about Scout and Spy.

I might do some concepts of it in sfm later, finally something to get me to start animating.
Is the TF2 wiki down for anyone else? https://wiki.teamfortress.com/

Also Heavy's should be a Balalaika. Giant string instrument for a giant man.
Yes, people who don't want to pay five fucking dollars for literally nothing are "whiny bitches."
It's factually wrong though, they got Valve plenty of moolah. Doesn't make them any less awful.
Don't worry guys, they learned how much money they got from it and will do it again.

Don't make me ring the no update bell right at 12:01 AM CDT tomorrow because of that...

Also isn't TF2 blog created by community, not valve?

Hell, we weren't even sure if you made money off it until that ridiculous banner was updated. Honestly, I wouldn't mind something like it again for map revenue. A little item that opts you into a map specific minigame, like picking up nuts and bolts or capturing points to rank it up. If it cost half the price of the journal I'd buy one to support map makers.
Don't trying to be pesimistic, but I think there won't be summer update this year. Valve is working on matchmaking that will probably be released in October, that also means Halloween update. So technically we could get two updates in October. Then there comes Spy vs Engie update, until they scrapped this idea (please don't). Then winter update, which could be SvsE actually. So yeah atleast 3 updates in work. If they're working on them pretty hard they won't have time for summer update. That means August-December will be better part of the year.

If it cost half the price of the journal I'd buy one to support map makers.
Yeah, it was more of a PR disaster than a financial failure, almost felt like a cynical insult in light of Snowplow being cut and the update being kinda devoid of gameplay-related content (could also dwell on another PR mistake, which was imo McVee announcing the whole project too early and perhaps making too many vague content promises in the initial months, which lead to the whole project being in the back of the community's minds for way too long and many of us developing ''surely it's gonna be more than just the SFM and cosmetics after all this time, we're getting a new map at least'' expectations). It really didn't help that there way no release-day indication that the money from it wasn't going into Valve's pockets and that everoyone who was critical felt that Valve (not the EOTL team) pretty much castrated the update and contributed largely to Snowplow's exclusion. (I'm sure YM and Frozen aren't at liberty to say or don't want to, but I'm really curious about how closely Valve actually followed the map's development in the final months; were they actually keeping tabs and giving clear indications what exactly was wrong with the map and what needs to be changed, did they clearly indicate that it wasn't to their liking or did they just take one look at it sometime in November when the deadline for content to be shipped was set and just said no?) Despite the Duck Journal supposedly selling well, I bet my ass that another hugely overpriced, undesirable Journal item like that with so little point to it (no ''missions''/achievements tied to it, no reward drops for ranks, no cool visual/particle effects attained with ranks etc.) and limited to such a short event (and with leaderboards that can be easily manipulated and exploited) would only make things worse. If we're gonna have more ''express financial gratitude to community contributors'' items that are supposed to be desirable and a big centerpiece of future updates (community or Valve-made) they really should have more long-term purpose and desirable functions to them. CS:GO operation passes, the way I understand them, add more purpose and challenges (perhaps due to the game being more competitive in nature) to each event, and each event lasts much longer. The Duck Journal may have sold well based on its novelty and I guess a kind of ''eh fuck it, let's do it for the lulz, quack quack meme meme'' mentality, but I'm not sure you could keep selling the same overpriced idea many times over. Whether Valve or the EOTL team came up with the Duck Journal idea, I don't know, it simply didn't offer enough and was overpriced. Sorry if it sounds ''ungrateful'', I just know that many TF2 players felt the same way, even the ones that eventually bought it.

They said matchmaking is coming soon (and that Valve had an internal working version of matchmaking) and they have been working on matchmaking for a long time, there were hints found in the code last October.
I believe Frozen said that Valve did play with them occasionally and did sometime get versions of the map to playtest themselves. I don't think they have ever said how much the TF2 team communicated with them (and I very much understand if they don't want to talk about things like that), but just given what we know about how little the TF2 team communicates with the community I wouldn't be surprised if they could of done a better job.
Yes, people who don't want to pay five fucking dollars for literally nothing are "whiny bitches."
Not people who don't want to pay it, the people who run to forums to complain about it, who scream and whine and throw hissyfits over something that isn't the exact specific thing that they personally wanted. There seems to be this entire community around TF2 where all people are interested in is complaining about everything that's in (or isn't in) every update. No matter what Valve do, the same group of people are there, ready to throw tantrums over it. I'm really tired of it. Bring something interesting or new to the discussion.
