well that's still true
after all december isn't here for another 6 months
Meanwhile, another small TF2 crossover has happened. Dungeon of the Endless, a tower defense/roguelike game by Amplitude Studios, was doing a free-weekend event, where the more players playing any of their Endless games, the more free in-game content unlocked. One of the goals was TF2 characters and items for Dungeon of the Endless, and it's just been released.

i know what i'm getting this summer sale.
To the surprise of no one, the leak confirming the Summer Sale taking place this week was true, which means the chance of a Summer update is all that more likely to occur sometime this week. If nothing else, we at least have that to speculate on.
The sale is rumored to start on Thursday, so i think that if we are going to get a summer-sale update (which i think we probably will) then i predict that we will a blogpost or the update itself on Wednesday.
What if we don't get an update this summer? :tinfoil:
clearly not the end of the world.
clearly not the end of the world.
But TF2 would lose almost all of what little optimism the fanbase has left, so it would be still pretty severe.
like when we didn't get another manniversary and here we are. or the last xmas update. or EOTL. or the bogaloo, the actuall mannconomy update, or meet the pyro, or when they forgot their own birthday, etc, etc, etc.
being optimistic has nothing to do with being delusional, if your interest in the game relies purely on what new content is aded then you might as well accept that you're not interested in what it offers you anymore and move into something else. in the end i'll be more healthy for you and will save everyone else's time dealing with it. that idea that tf2 needs to be spoonfeed major updates constantly to be kept alive and running as if it was some kind of locomotive is what will kill whatever spirits you have for the game.
you can always come back and enjoy the game whenever you feel like you're into it again. but nobody, nor you nor the devs at this point, owe anything to anybody. not after so many years of content that is actually in the game.
Did anybody actually care about no manniversary content? Wasn't it like, only a major update once in 2011?
It's nice to hear that Valve are making a new map, it's an indication that they're still keen on doing gameplay content that requires a considerable amount of work, but I really hope that both Asteroid and Cactus Canyon are finished and shipping soon - otherwise the number of half-finished projects in Beta stuck in a development limbo will rise further.
Well according to the Valve interview in Meet Your Makers they said they have level designers on the TF2 team. I don't think it's unreasonable to expect level designers to design some levels.
-snip misread-

Do we really need someone to make a post along these lines every few weeks?
A post that pretends people hoping for a new TF2 update are doing literally nothing else in the meantime or that people hoping for more content from a game they enjoy are somehow acting entitled or that wanting more of something somehow suggests that you did not enjoy it in the first place or that Valve are producing updates out of the goodness of their own hearts as opposed to the fact that this game still makes them a ton of money and makes even more money following an update.
It's a tired routine.
I have a feeling that it's this week or next week that were gonna get something, hell maybe in July but I don't know for sure, hopefully that comic comes out before I turn to dust and bones.
Remenber we also have Windows 10 around the corner and TF2 will need an update for that.
Uhm. No. Why? Because it already happened:
- Fixed not being able to launch the game in fullscreen on Windows 10 Preview
[editline]8th June 2015[/editline]
I mean sure if we were talking a jump from say XP to Vista then yeah stuff would need to get fixed up, but TF2 came out after Vista, which means it was pretty much already set for 7, 8/8.1, and after a couple of issues, 10.
Imagine Valve suddenly doing the ultimate surprise which is
LOVE AND WAR DAY 3
1 YEAR EARLIER
New taunt: The macarena.
That's it for 6 months, enjoy your friendly underpowered hoovies dancing in servers.
This was a very good year for tf2, goodbye.
Well, given the supposed imminent update, time for MUS raffle #3! Win a brand spankin' new key:

Haven't done this in like 6 months, so here are the rules:
- Vote for the time period you speculate the update hits
- Date voted upon is according to Valve's time zone, which is PDT
- After the update hits, those who correctly speculate the correct date are entered into the raffle
- You are disqualified if you change your vote at any time
With that said, here are the dates:

: Wednesday the 10th
: Thursday the 11th
: Friday the 12th
: There is no update this week

"Indie Pixel Art Tower Defense Roguelike with TF2 Content." I think that might be the most generic game ever.
For everyone thinking that there is no update this weekend I cannot imagine how that will be the case, it may not be major, but it'll certainly be something.
Every summer sale we got some kind of "rewards" in TF2. Forgot that?
Sorry, but I just cant imagine nothing happening.

I actually did, I only remember Summer Shades from 2011 sale. What was TF2 rewards of the other 3 sales?

You should start now.

Agreed. Its nice to get updates both for valve and the customers.

Scout gets another weapon?
Try Soldier.
I don't believe we ever had full clarification that the TF team fully intended to use the maps workshop to add maps to the game (and not just for servers to host custom maps), but now we do (bottom row of his response).:

Don't mind the actual context of the email.

It make sense they would use the workshop and ratings to help figure out what maps to make official but it's good to get official confirmation of this.
They also said they would be regularly putting community taunts in the game
I imagine that much like cosmetics we'll mostly see taunts added to the game during major updates.
They also said they would be regularly putting community taunts in the game
Honestly there aren't enough polished taunts on the workshop for Valve to just add into the game, sure there's the really good one here or there but not enough to add new ones monthly

Every time there's a crossover like this, my mind likes to pretend the mercs are so bored of nothing ever happening in TF2 that they cross over to other games to find entertainment.

Well, there was that horrible looking pile of sunglasses for the 2014 sales
