Vote time! When will the next major update hit? July August September October (Halloween, hopefully) November December (Xmas, hopefully) Update, what update?
If the updates don't affect me or the majority of the community, then it's basically the same as having no updates.
keep in mind that valve not focusing on comp is also the reason why causal players are in a such majority. Comp updates would attract new players, who are willing to play competitvly and not just casualy (see CS:GO) aswell as the old ones, who left TF2 due massive infulx of F2P players who, how do I say it, have no clue how to play the game. If TF2center didn't exist I would've quit TF2 a long time ago. I don't think it's OK to put together players with over 1000 of hours and players with 20 min playtime. This would be ok, if it wasn't the only fucking option. It really isn't in my interest to play with players with such low hours, and I don't think it's in anyone interest. It isn't fair and it's unfun for both sides. Mathcmaking would definetly solve this problem and would segregate casual players from comp players and really bad players from really good players. Again, thank god we have tf2 center
The Short Circuit change for example made it feel like a totally new weapon and I liked that.
totally new cancer yeah. a finer example would be the sodapopper. it's like a whole new thing
I don't think this is true. TF2 was clearly designed as a casual FPS, something different from the hundreds of serious competitive shooters available at the time. It is balanced around casual play and tends to attract casual players because of its simplicity and artstyle.
totally new cancer yeah. a finer example would be the sodapopper. it's like a whole new thing
They still didn't change the Soda Popper at a fundamental level though. The gun is still the same gun. The bonus is still given to the player for free. The only thing changed is that the bonus is free mobility on the most-mobile class instead of free damage for the most-aggressive class. Also he can now hold onto the bonus as long as he likes instead of it triggering automatically. The weapon's niche is still that of rewarding nothing with something. It's just complained about far less frequently because people aren't dying to it as often.
I don't think this is true. TF2 was clearly designed as a casual FPS
In what way was 2007 TF2 "designed to be casual"? Because from memory, the only original mechanics and class "designed to be easy to pick up and play" was and is the Soldier
In what way was 2007 TF2 "designed to be casual"? Is the wiki down for anyone else? edit: aw
If there were going to be an update any time soon, I imagine Valve would have teased something by now, unless it's going to drop with a blog post to herald its arrival a la 2013.
Is the wiki down for anyone else? Mm, straws
Yeah, the wiki's been down since late yesterday at least.
that confirms competitive beta is very soon, right???
Nope, it's likely just Razer wanting to head-to-head against TF2Center. Because not even FACEIT has TF support, and if you hate ESEA due to scandals, then TF2Center before now had no competition.
so just throwing this out there: remember valve's economist? the one that went on to become greece's financial minister? welp, greece's economy crashed pretty hard and greece has defaulted. seemed like a good idea at the time. wasn't this the guy that was hired right before they retired a bunch of hats and other weird economy shit?
Figure now is good time to mention this... I predict that in the next few months, after we see some interesting update content... the key market will crash. Keys will become much, much cheaper.
Figure now is good time to mention this... I predict that in the next few months, after we see some interesting update content... the key market will crash. When you compare it to TFC, which is far from the pinnacle of competitive, TF2 is and has always been hella casual.
Yeah, the wiki's been down since late yesterday at least.
Wonder why its been down so long. Usually doesnt last this long i dont think.
Wonder why its been down so long. Usually doesnt last this long i dont think.
Maybe they just don't care anyone? Or maybe they are working on an overhaul/changing servers. [sp]They probably don't care[/sp]
I'm most likely late as shit, but wanted to point this out: So they made a brand new SFM to be used with Dota and it's custom games only, because Dota 2 must be the best game to make movies about, right? :suicide:
totally new cancer yeah. a finer example would be the sodapopper. it's like a whole new thing
I said I liked the fact that they changed it up drastically. Same with the Soda Popper. I'd be fine with less weapons being released if it meant old shitty items became fresh.
I said I liked the fact that they changed it up drastically. Same with the Soda Popper. I'd be fine with less weapons being released if it meant old shitty items became fresh.
There was nothing wrong with the short circuit after the summer balancing patch. I'll still miss the version that took good timing to destroy projectiles and rewarded you for it. I'm all for fixing unused weapons but they overdid it on the christmas short circuit rebalance and now it's ruined when it wasn't that bad beforehand.
I'm getting the overwhelming feeling TF2 will not be ported to Source 2, and instead stay on Source 1 along with the Source 1 SFM.
If TF2 doesn't get ported, we might as well say farewell to hopes of optimizing the game properly
If TF2 doesn't get ported, we might as well say farewell to hopes of optimizing the game properly
or any kind of user friendly SDK
I guess the small mention of TF2 on the sfm blog counts as a summer update for them
Does anyone else thinks major TF2 update will come with new TF2 Comic?
This is just the result of a cursory lighting change with a few pasted in pumpkins and candles. Planned changes: - Tentacles - Structural changes to buildings (non-gameplay changes, visual only) - Tentacles - Entirely new payload - New finale pit design (death pit with tentacles involved?) - Fixes to building in spawnrooms - Tentacles - Perhaps reassessing a few areas to make it less choky/horrible (probably very minor changes, unlikely to make it into the main hoodoo version) - The eldritch plateau of Leng (underworld style mechanic, yet to be tested) - Did I mention tentacles? I can't make a new boss since they're all hard coded. Sorry :( Disclaimer: This isn't an indication of what's coming in the Halloween update, but if it gains traction there's hope.
The only thing which could happen this week if we are talking major updates is them announcing day one of XY today and then releasing it thursday night. If we aint gonna get anything this night we can completely scratch this week.
I really doubt it since the main focus of Valve probably is with Dota 2's Reborn client and working out all the bugs with it Maybe someday they'll remember that their beta maps are still unfinished and quietly slip the final versions in
