So they made a brand new SFM to be used with Dota and it's custom games only, because Dota 2 must be the best game to make movies about, right?
:suicide:
I'm still a bit mad that they haven't updated the old SFM's engine to not have problems with transparent textures breaking their entire AO and paintable textures being pitch black without any proper editing.
Maybe someday they'll remember that their beta maps are still unfinished and quietly slip the final versions in
Without loudly announcing and giving themselves a hit on the back? Nah. That's not very Valve-like.
I'm expecting CS:GO to be updated to Source 2 next.
You know, with a text saying something along the lines of "Don't worry Counter Strike fans! We only left out TF2"

Well, in the mean time, we got this outdated as hell and broken-ish wiki to cover for the offical one! It even looks like it, god damn.

you wonderful person.
That's the most effort I've ever seen someone put forth to be gramatically incorrect.
I hope you all have a ~Very Merry 6 Months of No Major Updates Anniversary!~

Is this the longest major update drought there's been? I feel like it really is
The ridiculous thing is that them acknowledging us like that at this point actually seems somewhat insulting
As said above, watch them port CS:GO over to Source 2 and leaving Team Fortress to die

"Our game is Not Important. What is important is what we're not going to do... we just fuckin' hate this game, and the free-to-play casuals feasting on its unoptimized carcass. Our whole workday is just cold, bitter hatred, and we always wanted to work on DOTA 2. This is the time of microtransactions and no new update is worth releasing. And we will profit off of old updates as long as we can. It's time for us to kill your dreams. And it's time for TF2 to die. Our genocide crusade begins here."

Terribad, Spy can't sap it.
By releasing on this thursday they also effectively limit the weekend popularity of the game considering 4th of july will keep a large demographic of their consumers busy
If the update is ready there was no tangible reason to postpone it a week outside of big bugs or timing, which makes me think as always they're probably still far from done and cramming in last second work.

A true reality
So from what I've collected so far in this thread is...
Valve continuously loves DOTA 2 while leaving TF2 in the dust?
I'm almost sure valve is still supporting TF2 because of the amount of cash keys generate. And it's starting to show.

I'm thinking we'll probably get some moderate, Pyromania/Love and War sized Update around August or September as our major (non-Holiday) themed update. I'd normally suspect Spy vs Engie, but I'm not really sure what to make of that since it hasn't already come out during the prime part of the Summer for updates.

what do they have to release though?
Spy vs Engie, a finished rd_asteroid, that map from the hat wall, possibly cactuscanyon finished, possibly borneo if that workshop leak is legit.
Guarantee Valve has Thursday and Friday off.
I don't even expect tf2 stuff anymore

The only thing I expect from TF2 is disappointment.

if i remember correctly, it's because in source 2, the sfm is just another source sdk tool like hammer that comes with its own instance for each game
presumably, if they release any more source 2 games, they'll come with their own source filmmakers that are tailored specifically for those games
Yeah I doubt anything will happen this week for TF2.
July 4th is on a Saturday so they probably won't do anything today or tomorrow if they're gonna do anything.
I dunno why but I have a gut feeling that update will hit on July 16th.
EDIT:
But frankly I'm just surprised they haven't made a blog post showing off some new things like last year with the facestab knife, hinting at the new parachute, etc. For the last month its just been THAT FUCKING ENGINEER taunting us.

spy vs engie are still pretty much myths
asteroid and canyon should be givens. like they are so due they don't even count anymore.
the hat wall? it's not rare for early map versions to not look like the final product at all. if anything it's just a beta shot of a map we already have.
as for borneo, community maps are cool and all but that doesn't really qualify as new content in my book

None of the maps we know Valve are working on contain a CP.
Where did people say they had found references to a new version of hoodoo? Is there evidence for it, or is it just idle speculation?
