• Major Update Speculation XXVI: Much Ado About Nothing

I started reading the update page. I started thinking "No... did they?" and at the bottom I couldn't fucking believe it. Of course I got happier reading part 2 and really did appreciate the comic, but the fucking weapon skins straight out of CS:GO feels like a complete insult.
I started reading the update page. I started thinking "No... did they?" and at the bottom I couldn't fucking believe it. Of course I got happier reading part 2 and really did appreciate the comic, but the fucking weapon skins straight out of CS:GO feels like a complete insult.
I've always thought having a number of the people you killed with a specific gun on the side of that gun would be something more fitting of TF2 than CS to be honest.
Next update they need to remove Halloween restrictions. Their excuse no longer works with those weapon reskins running around.
New feature : Weapon exchange and pick up. Weapons dropped by killed players can no longer be picked up for ammo. Killed players will now also drop a medium ammo box. Players that can normally equip the dropped weapon (proper class) can look at the weapon and press the 'action key' to exchange it with what they have equipped. The player's equipped weapon will be dropped on the exchange.
Wait, does this mean you could, for example, run down a hallway with the stock rocket launcher and see a sentry, switch your stock launcher for the cow mangler you found on the ground,alt-fire the sentry, switch back to your stock launcher then proceed to spam the hell out of the sentry? Would't this create some balance issues with situational weapons?
So I have several questions: What weapons are getting skins? If each mission skin is unique, how will those skins be retailed on the market or traded, and how will a value for them will be set? Can I apply skins to my weapons? I already have an extensive inventory of stranges and killstreaks and botkillers and I don't feel like rebuilding my inventory essentially from scratch to get skins. What are unusual weapons?
Would't this create some balance issues with situational weapons?
That sounds like a lot of fun, but you probably would have to visit a resupply locker.
Is it time for us to start looking through all the images for easter eggs/hidden things? Something I noticed, Spy is missing on the screens. I know he's at the bottom of the page but so are Scout and Heavy, we also have images of what looks like: A group of people in the top Left, possibly the TF Classic team The dart board found in 2fort spawn with members of the TF2 team taped to it in the Top Right, Sniper looks to have a knife stabbed into him What looks like a falling bomb cart (with something written on it) in the bottom Left A briefcase in the bottom Right An image of a map behind Miss Pauling's chair Something else to note is these look like new character photos on each of the screens, the same photos that are taped to the dart board. Maybe we're going to see something animated in SFM sooner than we thought? [t]http://puu.sh/iKco4/036b623441.png[/t]
(proper class)
That is. Cow Mangler and Stock-et Launcher are both Soldier weps.
to spare you the long version, c_models pretty much downgrade the guns in your view and permanently make them use low-poly variants for some fantasy, nonsensical reason.
That's quite the opposite, really. As what Sexy Robot said, the LOD 0 of models is the view model, and in fact world models benefit from it. You can see the blatant difference between old world models and the new c_models here, from the stock weapons at least: [t]http://images.akamai.steamusercontent.com/ugc/3282311213320998272/F4F725CA0F003CCCBAC552D9DA73E59FD85F9BB0/[/t] No more ugliness. And I believe I haven't noticed a downgrade in view model quality thanks to that update back then.
so competitive...
I've always thought having a number of the people you killed with that specific gun on the side of the gun would be something more fitting of TF2 than CS to be honest.
Yeah, I guess you're right on that one. But at least in CS:GO it's a nondescript little counter: [t]https://c2.staticflickr.com/4/3770/12139355996_72640ff9c8_b.jpg[/t] And this is the "Stat Clock": It just feels tacky. Like they had to put the skull and the white letters on a broken little bar above the numbers. The rolling wheels fit with TF2, but otherwise it doesn't look right. And other than that, the ruggedness/weapon skin quality and those basically improved stranges are so unoriginal it hurts.
My only concern with any of this is how ammo/ubercharge will be managed on weapon pickups, hopefully they won't use the CSGO system where you get their ammo in reserve and clip otherwise you'll pretty much be getting a full refill at times which could be especially potent in times, especially on demo/soldier although it's relatively minor. Ubercharge is a way bigger deal and I really hope they don't make dropping medics give your medic full ubercharge, which turns a bad situation for a team into an even worse one. Swapping between mediguns is a much more interesting situation but I really think it should put you on 0%. Aside from that, almost all the other balance changes seem really decent on paper.

Would't this create some balance issues with situational weapons?
id say thats a very rare occurrence. you'd have to have killed a cow mangler soldier near a sentry and be able to have the time to pick up the weapon, wait for its alt-fire to fire off, then find and pick up your other weapon again in time to destroy the sentry before it wakes up. oh, and before the engineer doesn't shove his shotgun down your throat or an enemy walks by to see you messing around. in a full server id wager this sort of thing shouldn't happen.
I wonder how this weapon-dropping nonsense will work with Heavy melees. It sounds interesting, but I really hope it's a serverside option.
Next update they need to remove Halloween restrictions. Their excuse no longer works with those weapon reskins running around.
We haven't seen much of Powerhouse. Don't be too surprised if those textures on the guns in that collection are on the map somewhere like 2Fort's.
Do the weapon cases need to be unboxed with a key? yup nevermind
Q: WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CRATES AND THESE NEW WEAPON CASES? A: Crates are dropped randomly and contain a random selection of items. Weapon cases are only accessible through participation in the campaign, are exclusive to the campaign and can only be received as direct rewards for completing contracts. Crate keys will not open weapon cases. Only campaign-specific case keys will open weapon cases.
Now that is stupid. Paying to be able to get contracts where one of the rewards is a box you need to pay to unbox.
Oh look. VNN is at it again. Bringing breaking news, and just like real news, is really, really innaccurate.
Do the weapon cases need to be unboxed with a key?
The Powerhouse and Camo ones are, along with the strange and unusual variants of the 2fort guns and the fancy ones.
Perhaps we will get Spy vs Engineer this winter?
is it safe to say Gun Mettle update is Love and War Update 2 aka healthy hype update?
THE DARK AGE HAS ENDED! [editline]1st July 2015[/editline] When does the skin workshop open?
Wait a minute.... If you can pick up any weapon that can be equipped by your class, does that mean you'll be able to pick up golden pans, necro smashers and saxxies?
Wait a minute.... If you can pick up any weapon that can be equipped by your class, does that mean you'll be able to pick up golden pans, necro smashers and saxxies?
I don't see why you couldn't. Not like it matters, you lose it when you die.
THE DARK AGE HAS ENDED!
There was barely one to begin with.
THE DARK AGE HAS ENDED! [editline]1st July 2015[/editline] When does the skin workshop open?
HA-LAY-LOO-YUH PRAISE (insert religious figure here)!
I don't see why you couldn't. Not like it matters, you lose it when you die.
I was curious, considering saxxies and golden pans are exclusive melee weapons given only to the very lucky or talented.
