Major Update Speculation XXVI: Much Ado About Nothing

I said this in the update thread but I'll say it here too
I kinda like the Twofort and Concealed Weapon collections
Why didn't valve also set hud_fastswitch 1 by default or con_enable 1 by default? Pretty much anyone experienced in this game has at least one (usually both) of those enabled 24/7
Fastswitch is more of personal preference than fast reload. Fast reload is useful in almost every way (unless you wanted to fake a reload while disguised as spy). With fastswitch on, it would also be harder for new players to learn each weapon in each slot. Dev console isn't enabled by default in any Valve game.
I have fastswitch on in every single Valve game besides tf2.
HOLY FUCKING SHIT
ITS LIKE CSGO BUT FOR TF2
IM OKAY WITH THIS
DAT NEW WEAPON INSPECT AMINATION THOUGH
ALL MY 70 FOV ANIMS ARE FUCKED
Holy shit TF2 actually got an update
TF:GO

umm no
buckets work nicely with lastinv. completely unrelated to "skill"
you know...I'm just gonna wait for the delicious glitching making the game like randomizer for a while.
Imagine for a short while classes ended up picking up ANY other classes weapons instead of just their own.
Guys, this is seriously the update I've been waiting for. It's literally a housecleaning and improvement update.
New animations, new guns, a revamped system (weapon swap outs, holy shit). Sure, not all of it might be good but only time will tell and it's surely better than the absolute nothing that we've been having for a while.
I take back what I said before. This has definitely been a long work in progress and I'm glad a big change is coming that might get me back into TF2.

Glad you like it. I think its pretty good.
New skins/weapon cosmetics- Meh.
4 new maps- Hell yeah.
New taunts- Meh (that spy box taunt and russian dance taunt are dope though.)
Balances- Hell yes.
Being able to pick up dead enemies weapons- Hmmm...lets see how this plays out.
Overall i give this update like a 3/5

I think it only further convolutes the game and is a prime example of taking a decent mechanic from one game and sloppily tacking it into another
not to mention the new skins are absolute edgemeister trash and will only serve to make more of the game an eyesore
picking up enemy weapons also seems like a very non-TF mechanic and i think in the end it's only going to further damage the gameplay. I'm also wondering what the comp scene is going to think about this, I'm having huge mixed feelings about the update and i dont think it'll be good for comp
weapon rebalances wouldve been a fantastic update on its own. the rest is kinda iffy and i think really kinda ruins the update.

at least they arent allowing us to paint those weapons...
imagine ALL THE LIME AND PINK PAINTED WEAPONS
sure I would actually paint all my weapons australium yellow but thats just me as with all my stuff I have being painted that colour

these reskins are actually a level beyond paints. this is literally gamebanana material.
in a month or two we could easily have real paint cans for guns and people would care less.
little by little. it's coming.

Oh there's still going to be lime and pink weapons, it's just they have a random chance of ending up in your inventory instead of being in somebody else's.

Yeah a lot of the ideas might not work out in the long run but I'm all for change. A lot of people hate change, but when it comes to a game as forgotten and dead as TF2, I'm willing to experiment with new ideas and mechanics Valve make up.
"These ideas aren't like TF2 and are totally ruining the whole game".
They might. But with an 8 year old game I'm willing to ditch what I'm used to. I just want something different.

buckets are shit because you have to confirm it. if there was a quick switch that showed the weapons on the side without making you confirm then it might be good.
then again, we have a hud player model now.

actually...you are right
so we should just enjoy the balances and treat the weapon skins as just as so "Hats"
just gonna be a real bitch to coordinate with my clothing for a time
Large amount of skins that clearly dont fit TF2 aethestics, CS:GO gimmicks, unusual weapons, overpriced microtransations...
I'm sorry, I absolutely love TF2 and all, but this is stupid.
See you all in October.
Worried about the vaccinator, seems like more of a nerf

See you tomorrow when you launch the game to try the new update.
I'd say the weapon rebalances alone are worthy of a $6 tip.
(I will grudgingly accept being drowned in civilian-grade battle-scarred weapon reskins.)
I like the concept of the new weapon skins, the problem for me is I don't really use these stock weapons for the most part.
I mean, it might be nice to have a camo smg just for giggles but still.
Notice how they started the buff/nerfs with Spy & Engi.

You dont think....
Nahhh....
I would cry tears of joy if i come back tomorrow to find that day 2 is the Spy vs Engi update.
About the Fan O War.
The mark allow crits instead mini crits ?
Or it's just that you can do crits instead mini crits.
I just realized that people will get to (temporarily) play with Golden Pans/Wrenches/etc. if someone on the server has one and drops it.

It's like the Bushwacka.
July 2nd. I though it would be updating on June 31st.
So today? Everyone keeps saying tommorow or is that thanks to some time zone bullshit?

Spy is missing from the screens behind Ms. Pauling :tinfoil:
Did they forgot about ducks?
This can't be an update without ducks.
Maybe new duck skins for weapons.

There are ducks on Snowplow.
The gun-switching mechanic adds some potentially interesting dynamics to gameplay. For example, a player with an attacking loadout capturing a control point, then yoinking a more defense-oriented weapon off a corpse to improve their chances to hold it.
It's a small thing with a potentially large impact, and I'm curious to see how those bastions of accepting change, comp players, adjust their strategies to it.
Equalizer and Escape Plan
Changed no healing penalty to 90% less healing from Medics while active
Clearly made for Competitive.
