An update to Team Fortress 2 has been released. The update will be applied automatically when you restart Team Fortress 2. The major changes include:
Updated Mann Co. Store prices for foreign currencies to current USD equivalents
they should never do this joke again. it was too cruel
Thinking about it, I think they only put in so many damn bright/gaudy skins because of how they saw they were the some of most popular kind in CS and thought "Hey, if they're the most popular here than maybe they'll be the most popular in TF2!"
May I say what really pisses me off?
ALL those weapons updates, and not a single change to the Degreaser or reserve shooter
:suicide:
"let's put gamebanana skins in the game and make them available through a cosmetic system copy pasted from the game that single handedly ruined online gaming, and make the comic artists take a break from the next issue to promote it"
there's no hope
CS:GO singlehandedly ruined online gaming? I think you're overstating how relevant it actually is as a whole.

They're right, as much as it'll hurt all of us. They'll look even more out of place in TF2.
I hope there's a skin for the rocket launcher that makes it look like the rocket jumper
What time is it at valve?
It's been so long I've forgotten at what hour major updates usually drop
id say to wait another 9 or so hours before starting to expect anything
they should never do this joke again. it was too cruel
I guarentee you they were like "How do we fuck with them before this update page is up?"
I hope that when we do get community skins (if we do), than we get more along the lines of this:

and uhh, not really what's going on with those lightning guns.
Looking at the CS Workshop doesn't look promising with every 2nd gun skin trying to be the new Asiimov though.
The thing that i most hate about csgo's workshop it's that everyone can easy grab content from internet and create their own gun, what's the problem about this? Everyone creates the most complex weapons skins (AWP, ak47, etc) and everyone it's spamming on other workshop items like "Looks great, come here and rate my stuff <5 workshop items guns>"
I really think that valve should remove links that redirects to other submissions

quarter to 8 am,
source- I live a short drive from valve hq
what's up with them throwing the word "campaign" everywhere now
back in my days a campaign was a whole singleplayer adventure. not a pimped-up achievement list
why do people like them, i don't get it.
unless it's literally just "IT'S REALLY LOUD AND PEOPLE WILL LOOK AT ME AND MY FUTILE EXISTENCE WILL BE VALIDATED AND THEY WILL ALL RELISH IN MY MAGNIFICENCE" and vote it up because they're self aggrandizing narcissists who'll probably never even get the fucking skin
Mostly because flashy skins are given the rarest Covert quality
Do you remember when the 2013 Festive weapons were really gaudy and nobody really liked them? Then in 2014 everything was subdued in comparison and we thought they'd learned?
I miss those times.
So it's about completing challenges on an offline match?
There's an F.A.Q on the update by the way.
Q: HOW RARE ARE THESE WEAPONS?
A: Campaign-exclusive weapons are one-of-a kind. Every weapon is given a uniquely placed paint job so that it will always look a little different than your friends'. Weapons further come in six grades of rarity (Civilian, Freelance, Mercenary, Commando, Assassin or Elite) further modified by five levels of wear (Factory New, Minimal Wear, Field-Tested, Well-Worn and Battle Scarred). Completing contracts will earn you either a weapon from a collection with rarity grades 1-4, or an unlockable weapons case that has weapons with rarity grades 3-6. Campaign-exclusive weapons found in unlockable cases will also have a chance to contain Strange capability, a rarer chance at being Unusual, and a highly rare chance to have both.
Q: WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CRATES AND THESE NEW WEAPON CASES?
A: Crates are dropped randomly and contain a random selection of items. Weapon cases are only accessible through participation in the campaign, are exclusive to the campaign and can only be received as direct rewards for completing contracts. Crate keys will not open weapon cases. Only campaign-specific case keys will open weapon cases.

it sounds like every skin texture will be placed slightly differently, meaning every unique skin is different on some level.
Imagine getting an elite rarity unusual factory new rocket launcher with the best skin and a stat tracker. That must be like 100 unusual hats.

I have friends irl who never shut the fuck up about it, it drives me fucking crazy how unfunny and cancerous an entire community can be
the fact that valve encourages and prioritizes this shit makes it even worse
So you have to pay 6 dollars to get exclusive crates which in turn need their own keys?
TF2 should go the way of Dota 2 and retire keys, that's just dumb

In my experience it's exactly the opposite... I never hear about CS:GO outside of the places I'd expect to. LoL however is fucking everywhere. I follow this one car-centric page on Facebook and there was a litte image they posted that said "Summoner's Drift" and had a drifting car photoshopped into a part of a LoL map.
I remember it vividly.
Yesterday, I was browsing facepunch. One minute, nobody was talking on facepunch, mus was full of pessimism and vitriol. I refresh. 9 new posts? Where did those come from?
"teamfortress.com/gunmettle oh fuck"
I had missed that feeling of giddy excitement. It was amazing. My hands were shaking as I copy-pasted the balance changes to friends who don't follow the game quite as closely.
And now we wait for the update to arrive, with perhaps even more content in a Day 2, being the 500th update of TF2 (if it happens). Hope to see the Afterburner actually make it.
There won't be a Day 2. They posted both parts ahead of time.
Can someone fill me in about this Gunmettle update? From what I see it's like a paid DLC type thing which instantly turns me off... the skins seem majorly unappealing to me as well, at least the ones that look like they're from Call of Duty.
TO THOSE WHO WISH FOR COMMUNITY MADE SKINS
I would humbly ask for you to not wish that upon us. Do you know what that would mean for the Workshop?
Thousands and Thousands of Terrible paint jobs. Pages filled with Tron weapons. People not even uploading modules, Just skins of weapons that idiot masses will vote for. Do not wish this upon us, I don't want to see terrible skin after terrible skin sit by actual effort.

and a fuuuuuuuuuckton of weapon balances

That's good at least! I like the whole idea of challenges and whatnot but I'm not gonna compromise my principles and pay for it. I'll just uh... do my own challenges in my head! Yeah! That'll show them.
According to the comic, Miss Pauling took away not only the weapons, but the bonus champagne as well.

What if, after buying the new items, the customers will get a champagne-related item?
Additionally, has anybody already used this as a profile picture?

Doing some basic research, I found these webm with wear values.

I don't really know much about how the wear values work. Also I noticed that not every skin has every single wear category, some have scattered values, others don't have the bottom/top most categories.

You also get a bunch of new maps (1 official and 3 community), Powerhouse achievements and taunts that aren't tied to the Campaign Pass.
With all the balance changes, there's plenty of gameplay content to enjoy and try out that requires no purchasable DLC.
The Contracts will really only be a series of rather simple, generic achievements that won't really require a lot of time or attention, so the only noticeable thing you'll be missing out will be the new weapon skins - or not, if you buy the ones you like at some later time on the Market. I suspect that the less garish Teufort and Craftsmann ones that most of us seem to find more appealing will actually be more common.
So you're only missing out on some cosmetics (perhaps some potential profit from rare skins if you got lucky) and some temporary generic 'achievement packs' that won't really feature in TF2's regular achievement list.
