• Major Update Speculation XXVI: Much Ado About Nothing

With the whole competitive thing, they talked about using statistics about the equip rate of weapons to see what needs balancing, maybe they made this wave of balance changes so people would try out the weapons in the first place, to properly collect that data?
Not too terribly excited by the prospect of super-garish colors on weapons, but I do like the idea of being able to use dead players' guns. I've been wanting them to do that with dead players' hats ever since hats became a thing. I also hope they introduce freebie contracts for people not willing to spend extra money. I like the idea of having tasks and getting awarded useless XP, and would happily do it without the promise of a weapon reward at the end.
Why is everyone calling this update the CS:GO update? Looks like Nerf Fortress 2 to me
If you can equip dropped weapons, does that mean you can change your loadouts out of spawn?
For the record guys, the campaign pass will give you two extra drops a week, that you collect by completing contracts, and can get either a weapon or a weapon case. This could mean either than you'll have a 50% chance for each, or that you'll actually be able to choose between the two. Either way, you'll get a good number of weapons without opening any cases if you buy the pass. Also keep in mind, the shittiest, ugliest skins are the powerhouse ones, and those are only in cases. Anyway, does anyone else really like the camo skins? Obviously the purple sniper rifle looks gross, but most are actually pretty subtle and consistent.
I think Concealed Killer and Teufort will be the most popular cases, atleast in Facepunch.
The skins look like shit. Why is anyone even slightly hyped for them?
I dunno, people wanted paintable weapons and this is the next best thing tbh.
I think Concealed Killer and Teufort will be the most popular cases, atleast in Facepunch.
From what I've seen, the opinion seems to be that all around. But that's just the vocal community, if you consider the wider community it's anyone's guess. I mean bright neon pink hats are still all the rage.
The skins look like shit. Why is anyone even slightly hyped for them?
There's a few I'm interested in seeing in-game and maybe getting somewhere down the line, but I think some people in the community can do better.
The skins look like shit. Why is anyone even slightly hyped for them?
i think most of us are excited about the balancing stuff, i don't care about cosmetic shit
I think the changing loadouts thing means you can't litterateur change your loadouts out of spawn but you can pick up a weapon someone else used out of spawn and use it even if it's not what you had equipped
I dunno, people wanted paintable weapons and this is the next best thing tbh.
Well when csgo introduced weapon skins most of them actually looked good(even the "flashy" ones you guys like to whine about) but all of these are just garbage, what's the point?
If the tube on the medigun is skinned does that mean the entire backpack is too?
Well when csgo introduced weapon skins most of them actually looked good(even the "flashy" ones you guys like to whine about) but all of these are just garbage, what's the point?
valve wanted to see what happened
So you have to pay 6 dollars to get exclusive crates which in turn need their own keys? TF2 should go the way of Dota 2 and retire keys, that's just dumb
Isn't it the same way in CS:GO? You buy a permit to mission, then play it, get mission-exclusive items or strongboxes, which you need to open with buyable keys.
I love how in the Spy's contract, it lists making a backstab under "advanced." Yeah, advanced, it takes the greatest of skill to make a backstab.
valve wanted to see what happened
Well it's really lazy then, I still think the balancing changes are gonna be ok atleast.
Isn't it the same way in CS:GO?
Well when csgo introduced weapon skins most of them actually looked good(even the "flashy" ones you guys like to whine about) but all of these are just garbage, what's the point?
They aren't all bad though. There's a lot of bad ones, sure, but some are nice. Since you'll probably be able to pick up the teufort and craftsman ones dirt cheap in a couple weeks, you can pick and choose the subtle ones and go buy those.
Yeah, the whole campaign stuff is taken from CS Do missions, get either a weapon drop or a case, rank up your badge by doing said mission.
Then why people complain about money? At least you didn't pay for the game itself (unless you've been playing since 2007), which is not the case with CS:GO. And I better pay one time, than paying less, but all the time (looking at you, MvM)
I hope the missions for the pass are randomized and aren't the same for every player. Because as soon as a class specific one happens I can't wait for my whole team to play Spy. [sp]not like that doesn't already happen![/sp]
I love how in the Spy's contract, it lists making a backstab under "advanced." Yeah, advanced, it takes the greatest of skill to make a backstab.
Backstabs and headshots are so advanced that the game also gives you extra bonus points for them.
OH MY GOD I JUST GOT HOME AND WOW VALVE THANKS THIS IS THE BEST BIRTHDAY GIFT YOU EVER GAVE ME! Some of these skins are really neat, but what I'm actually excited about are the weapon changes. It's like 2k13 summer all over again! Of course leveling up my strange FoW will not be as fun as before, but still, look at all those buffs to Heavy! Finally we got the more accurate Tomislav back and that's all I could ever want for a balance change (it was my favorite and basically the only minigun I used before it got nerfed). Now for something that I'm taking a huge risk at being misunderstood on: The only thing I'm upset about is the box spy taunt, and let me explain why. In the early days of the taunt workshop, I made this concept and posted it in the Emporium, but it never got made. I came back to the community these last weeks because of college and now I discover that someone had a similar idea and it made in the game. Don't get me wrong, these guys totally deserve it. It's just that if it wasn't for college, maybe it would have been me that was going to get a shiny self-made because I probably wouldn't leave the community for so long... tl;dr: Kids, don't study. It's bad. You lose shiny stuff.
If the tube on the medigun is skinned does that mean the entire backpack is too?

Mediguns have backpacks?
I still hope we get some hats/misc items with the new update, just won't feel right without them to me.
I love how in the Spy's contract, it lists making a backstab under "advanced." Yeah, advanced, it takes the greatest of skill to make a backstab.
They probably wanted it so people with any amount of skill could do it eventually
It says Borneo is alpine themed? It looks like a jungle tough.
http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/alpine
Wait, you need keys to unock the weapon cases? Fuck, all the stuff I could want are in cases. At least I'm guessing whatever comes from cases is going to cost a fuckton, so there's that. I really have my eyes on this, don't really care about the rest:
