At least 2/3 of these cosmetics have no business being in the game outside of Halloween, simply for breaking lore too much. Most of the rest are otherwise Halloween-themed and would be tacky outside of Halloween restrictions. I know that 'tackiness' isn't exactly a disqualifier for an item being available year-round, but if they pick-and-chose which items got restrictions and which didn't, it would encourage people to make less interesting and original stuff.
Pyro being an alien doesn't break lore?
Pyro being an alien doesn't break lore?
Or being dead from the neck up?

Here's just a few. I didn't list ones that I'm undecided on.
Halloweiner
Cadaver's Capper
Beast From Below
Bozo's Bouffant
External Organ
Hard-Headed Hardware
Macabre Mask
Maniac's Manacles
PY-40 Incinibot
Rugged Respirator
Horsemann's Hand-Me-Down
Grease Monkey
Vicar's Vestments
Candleer
Pin Pals
Birdie Bonnet
Cryptic Keepsake
Guano
Haunted Hat
One-Way Ticket
Pocket Horsemann
Quoth
Hardium Helm
Jupiter Jumpers
Space Bracers
Hiden Dragon
Faux Manchu
Shaolin Sash
Lo-Grav Loafers
Surgeon's Space Suit
I think I may be bad at math, but that's more than 1/3.
Honestly, why is anything out of place in tf2 anymore? I really don't see much of a difference between what people look like now and what they normally look like. I mean, what's stupider, A scout with all lime green clothes and a christmas tree hat or a pyro with a robotic brain? Both are unrealistic.
And not to mention there's already unrestricted Halloween cosmetics like the skullsplitter, demon skull mask, Merasmus head, Bombinomicon...
Meanwhile Soldier gets a long mustache and goatee combo restricted because facial hair is too much for TF2 unless its a full beard?

First of all, that's 30 items, and there were over 90 added in the update so, yeah, that's 1/3.
Second, several of those undoubtedly deserve restrictions. Basically these ones:
PY-40 Incinibot (It's a robot head)
Grease Monkey (It's a monkey head)
Haunted Hat (Defies explanation. It's a ghost hat for Christ's sake.)

One suggests the mercenary doesn't have a sense of fashion, the other suggested the mercenary is an horrific monster

There are some things that should be restricted that aren't though, like the lightbulb pyro and the ghost head pyro.

Yeah, a robot head on Pyro is over the line.
It is, as is the lightbulb head. As I said before.
[editline]27th October 2014[/editline]
And before anyone mentions the rusty reaper, that's pretty clearly a mask, while the PY-40 is actually a robot head that could not possibly have a human neck fit inside.
People need to stop complaining about the item restrictions, honestly. As cool as some items like the Faux Manchu are (and would look awesome outside of Halloween), it doesn't matter because the items were submitted with full knowledge that they would have the restrictions. The point of the restrictions isn't just to prevent Pony space Head of Hare Scouts or to keep hitboxes somewhat normal, it also allows item makers to truly stretch their creative wings and try out new, weird, creative ideas.
We wouldn't see things like a full-on well done Wolf Medic or a small Engineer controlling an Engineer riding on top of another Engineer without the limitations being laid clear. Also, "but Halloween events before 2013 had some items that weren't restricted!" doesn't work, because that's why the restrictions being laid clear was done that year forward, so we know ahead of time that items will be restricted.
You guys realize you're just giving examples of more things that SHOULD be restricted, not making an argument against restrictions
By your logic, a whole metric ton of Pyro's cosmetics should be restricted just because you don't like them.
Do you also think the Brainslug should be restricted? Its an alien being stuck to the Pyros head, do you find that not "lore friendly"? What about the fish head? Or the birdcage?

Brainslug just looks like a little toy on his head. If by fish head you mean the Holy Mackerel, smacking people with a fish is actually a thing a human being could reasonably do in the TF2 universe, without magic or ghosts or anything. Birdcage is the same deal.
Fish head is this

Just get eternaween enchantments, they're dirt cheap.

Goofy, but not out of the game's suspension of disbelief by any stretch. TF2 has always been goofy, but there's a difference between a fish on Pyro's head and a fish for Pyro's head.
And what's wrong with the robot head Pyro? One of the many theories about Pyro is he's a robot. That head is very in-universe.

I'm a bit confused by this post. Did they say that they were ending standard gift drops in favor of this new system, or will the two exist alongside eachother?
I admit that reading people complaining that halloween restrictions are killing the artstyle is hilariusly dumb, but that they also kill the lore?
Boy, that one is new.

yea
(ok not really the last 2)
Know what we need? An item that removes the Halloween restriction from an item. (minus the zombie things)
Each player gets one and only one at the start of the event. with a rare drop for another in crates or something.

Then the point of restrictions is ruined. Good job.
You know what I'd expect? Maybe, if we're lucky, some items like the Tricky Chicken and Faux Man Chu getting unrestricted, but only a very few and even then only if we're lucky. At most, I'd say Faux Man Chu, Tricky Chicken, and Rugged Respirator (I really hope it gets unrestricted, it's a very good Pyro head).
Then the point of restrictions is ruined. Good job.
People complain about it and want it removed. This way it'll be an easy way to get rid of the restriction on your favorite Halloween item, without removing the restriction completely. TF2 won't be as ugly, and the guys wanting the removal will be happy.
Maybe remove the crate thing, so each player can only do it to one single item and that's it.

Alt accounts. The fact that items that were originally restricted can be unrestricted. People complaining and you conforming. These are all problems with your idea.
The only idea that isn't stupid and ruining the point of Restrictions is Spookyvision, or Spookyvision Goggles, and chances are that wouldn't be accepted either. At this point let people complain, it doesn't matter, they'll still buy the items and we'll still have the update.
Or they could simply make a Hallow-vision. There were files hinting at it last year, weren't there?

Literally read my post. I said that that's clearly a mask which Pyro's a head can fit inside, while there's no way a human neck can fit through the cords the PY-40's got going on. Anyway, a couple of items that should be restricted that aren't doesn't justify a removal of restrictions. It only justifies those items being restricted.
Literally read my post. I said that that's clearly a mask which Pyro's a head can fit inside, which it is.
It isn't, really. Even as a person who also agrees that people should stop complaining about restrictions, it's quite obviously just a mechanical version of the Last Breath, and not a mask in any way, just like the Aspect. That don't mean shit when it comes to restrictions though, since every robo item by proxy would have to be restricted as well.

But the last breath is a mask, so it still stands. A mechanical mask is still a mask, just a different style of mask.
Whelp, looks like odds are good the update isn't coming out until Thursday?
That really annoyed me last year. It's like putting up your christmas tree on christmas eve. You enjoy it for a day and then it's old. I liked it better when they released it earlier so it added to the build-up of the actual day. That's why I'm enjoying this Scream Fortress Classic thing so much.
