How do you use the loadout quickswitch button? I don't understand what it does.
How do you use the loadout quickswitch button? I don't understand what it does.
it's in the Multiplayer Advanced Options
It had to be linked soon anyway

not to be a whiny, but these (imo) are some of the lowest quality promotionals yet a bit of a disservice to witcher methinks
Actually, most of the promotional items are modeled and textured by the game developers who made the game related to the promotion, so obviously the developers thought this was quality enough. :v: Though to be fair, the only one that looks low-poly is the wolf medallion, and it's rather tiny and hard to see in-game. You're not even going to be close enough to one in-game to notice any lack of detail, so it was probably for the better.
Well, with Valve you got a 50/50 shot that's more like a 1/99 shot of it sounding like a bat.
You know, it really is terrible that Valve can't properly assign the right sounds to the right weapons. They've left several old weapons with incorrect sounds for ages. Who writes the attribute scripts for TF2? Because honestly, I could probably take his job and do even better. I used to hold off on saying that kind of thing, but at this point it's rather ridiculous. The wooden Boston Basher makes a metallic ping upon impact. Required fix? ONE extra line of code written into its item attributes. It's really effortless. And the only reason this pisses me off is because I myself have fixed all of the weapon sound errors before and I've submitted them to Valve multiple times and emailed them to multiple Valve people. I've never gotten one response and obviously they never used my submissions. It's copying lines of code in Notepad, how hard can this be? The files that dictate these kinds of attributes are straight up .TXT files...there is nothing super-crazy-technical about it whatsoever. They do a great job on TF2 as a whole, but it's lacking a lot of very easy-to-do polish that the community is more than happy to do for them...I just don't get why they continue to ignore it.
So do I, and look around you. Taunts missing, poor animations, poorly textured and modelled items... Tell me, when did you last use a Sco-Res? Try to equip one, or a Kritzkreig, even on max settings your eyes bleed. TF2 is filled with bugs and poor optimization, and Valve stopped giving a fuck because they prefer spitting out promos.
As much as I hate complaining about Valve, this is pretty much all true. And like I said, it's only really disappointing because all of these things have been fixed by the community and most of it submitted to Valve...they just either miraculously haven't noticed it amid the other submissions or choose not to use it.
How do you use the loadout quickswitch button? I don't understand what it does.
You can set the quickswitch key in the keyboard options. Basically, just hold the key down and a mini loadout editor will appear on the bottom of your screen. Press number keys to change slots and click on items to switch to. Then touch a supply locker and you're all set. It's much easier than going into the full loadout menu every time you want to change a weapon, because if you have a loadout change idea in the middle of battle, you can pull up the quickswitch and set the new weapons to load up on your next life.
The wooden Boston Basher makes a metallic ping upon impact.
it's got metal spikes sticking out of it. those spikes will hit most solid objects, not the wood part of the weapon.
it's got metal spikes sticking out of it. those spikes will hit most solid objects, not the wood part of the weapon.
solid spikes dont make hollow aluminum bat sounds.

Most of the time you're looking at Geralt's back. Though I do wish the medallion was a smidge bigger. Ah well, we've put up with it for this long, what's one more? :v:
As much as I hate complaining about Valve, this is pretty much all true.
You know, as well as others, that they take ages to do anything with submissions. Even hats. Then again, isn't the team like 15 people? 15 people versus several million users can be overwhelming. At least I'd think so.
it's got metal spikes sticking out of it. those spikes will hit most solid objects, not the wood part of the weapon.
Yeah, I probably could have picked a clearer example. What I mean is the main body portion of the Basher is wooden and thus it shouldn't ping like a metal bat upon impact. If anything it should make a gruesome...well, 'bashing'...sound upon impact. I had an idea a while ago to add an extra sound for bleed-inducing weapons that sounded kind of like tearing flesh and splattering blood. Several people made mockups for me and it was included with my sound mod (back when it worked). But really all Valve has to do for it is change its hit sound to be the regular melee impact noise. It suits it a lot better than a metallic ping. The ping should never ever be used on anything other than the original bat; no other weapon added to the game thus far fits it. It's really bad that the Sun-on-a-Stick, a MYSTICAL BALL OF FIRE HELD BY A HILT OF MOLTEN ROCK, sounds like a hollow aluminum bat when it hits people. :v: Here's a much better example compared to the Basher, then: The Tribalman's Shiv. Clearly wooden. It's internally called 'wood_machete'. What happens when you hit a wall with it? *CLANG*
solid spikes dont make hollow aluminum bat sounds.
My solid spike sounds like a bottle.
-snip, my work is done-
Quick mockup of Geralt, I mean Scout. Pretty wierd choice for these Promo items.
Scout has three promotional weapons. Jesus.
Quick mockup of Geralt, I mean Scout. [img_thumb]http://dl.dropbox.com/u/16004724/Scoot.png[/img_thumb] Pretty wierd choice for these Promo items.
Like I said, I think the dev's who made this associated it with the Scout due to body type and natural quickness, much like Geralt. (Not to mention if you added an undershirt with long sleeves, you'd have a somewhat similar look to Geralt. Sorta. Maybe. If from a distance? :v: ) I'm rather surprised they didn't make some kind of potion skin for CritCola/Bonk or something. (I chug Owl and Swallow like a pro). The items are Geralt's key items, though, and I keep telling myself, the hair is just silly. But hell, I've had Witcher 2 pre-ordered and sitting in my library since forever ago. About damn time it's about to release.
I really hope they decide not to release the hair, at least. Some promo hats never got released, just like the Bullseye's Head and Sam's Hat. Edit: Yeah they are probably gonna release it anyway and not give two flying fucks about it

It's pissing me off cause I can't get on my server to upload a fixed version of the Martyrdom perk I created for SourceMod.
Nope. I generally post quality posts. You just always avoid them and shit on my bad posts.
God. What a little narcissist. I seriously hope that something ravages you so you don't look at it as you are god's gift to the world.
itt everyone rages over polygons again
God. What a little narcissist. I seriously hope that something ravages you so you don't look at it as you are god's gift to the world.
Guys, guys, guys! Stop the fighting. I have a solution! (facepunch.com)

The hair looks like it's from some shit from WoW. The sword is poorly modelled and the phong is overdone, the dogtag is just poorly done overall. The folks behind Witcher 2 should have hired LaroLaro, at least it would only have been unfitting then, rather than unfitting and crappy looking.

It does seem rather rushed :s
If i get to tour valve and talk to robin one day, i will FUCKING lay some shit down. Okay, so you got the point we don't want anymore promos in your blog post. WHY DO YOU KEEP DOING THAT? it's like valve:"Hi, i stabbed you." community:"WE DON'T LIKE IT!" valve:"ok! I'll joke about it, it's no problem" community:"cool!" next day valve:"Hi i'm stabbing you again" community:"i thought you learned your lesson"
If i get to tour valve and talk to robin one day, i will FUCKING lay some shit down.
No you won't.
whaaaaat, sam's hat would of been way cooler then max's head, why didn't they release it?
"It was cut due to the modeling team having trouble getting the hat to properly fit each class. Team specific textures remained in the game files during and beyond the promotion, but were later removed during an unknown patch." However, I've seen a fan-made Sam's Hat using the skin before. Edit: Something like this [img_thumb]http://ranger.gamebanana.com/img/ss/skins/89191a.jpg[/img_thumb][img_thumb]http://ranger.gamebanana.com/img/ss/skins/89195b.jpg[/img_thumb][img_thumb]http://ranger.gamebanana.com/img/ss/skins/89195c.jpg[/img_thumb]
whaaaaat, sam's hat would of been way cooler then max's head, why didn't they release it?
Apparently they couldn't get it to fit the heads of all classes. Though, it's a shame. It would have been so much more awesome.
they should of restricted it to spy in that case, imo
I hate how the Gibus literally floats on top of Sniper's head. God damn it pisses me off. [editline]13th May 2011[/editline]
[img_thumb]http://ranger.gamebanana.com/img/ss/skins/89195b.jpg[/img_thumb]
Haha oh wow this looks ridiculous

At least it fit!
I like the hair and medallion, but not so sure about the sword. IF it had bad stats or is just a reskin, I probably won't like it.
