Other than that editing them won't work in actual games.[/QUOTE] Actually, they changed items_game over to a straight .txt file since Valve wanted to make it easier for us to grab that file if we needed it for whatever reason. The only reason it was a CTX was to encrypt it to prevent cheating, but people cracked the format anyway (You may remember the exploit a long time ago where Scouts could carry miniguns and the like.) so they just switched it to be server-side. And while SOME changes don't work online, some other changes DO. Ones I can name off the top of my head are changing text strings, adding/removing text descriptions, changing slot (as long as it's still functionally the same as the server's version, like swapping all of the Demoman's primary weapons and secondary weapons so that the grenade launcher becomes "primary"), changing loadout icon properties, appending/removing "propername" prefixes ([b]The[/b] Ambassador, [b]A[/b] Community Kritzkrieg), changing weapon sounds (like making the Pain Train have metal impacts instead of broken bottle impacts), and changing the backpack mouse_pressed and drop sounds. I have a modified items_game.txt that I personally use that fixes a number of errors and improves many items' loadout appearances. It's a great file to know how to mod. That said, the string that controls whether or not an item "falls off" the player model is "drop_type", contrary to the popular belief that this string controls whether or not an item can be "dropped" as a found item for your inventory. If set to "none", then the item will stick to the player model on death. If set to "drop", then they drop it on death. As for whether or not this works online, I'll have to do some testing; I've never played around with this before.

Here's what I added to my Pain Train's info: [code] "visuals" { "sound_melee_hit" "Weapon_Shovel.HitFlesh" "sound_melee_hit_world" "Weapon_Shovel.HitWorld" }[/code] Basically just forced shovel sounds, so it sounds the same as it always did for Soldier but also sounds that way for Demoman too. I've made other sound changes, too, like giving the Tribalman's Shiv wooden sounds (it currently sounds metal) or making the Homewrecker have heavy-hitting flesh impact noises (like a wrench) instead of sounding like an axe chop. All these changes are going to be part of my huge text mod that I'm still working on. And before fifty people message me on Steam asking "How's it coming?", it's coming along fine.

After downloading some things from previous threads (The ocelot taunt, Masha and Dasha, and the Health Image thingo that appears above the person you're healing) my computer contracted malware and was bricked. Nothing else was downloaded that day (As in, files), and everything went to shit AFTER they were downloaded. So for future reference, please check your links and files, and be cautious of old links (I'm looking at you, whoever uploaded the link to the ocelot taunt). That is all.

Would anyone happen to have a copy of the fixed Sola Topi? I'm not really wanting to go to FPSB at the moment for obvious reasons.

Don't worry commie cake, I have a brilliant idea for something to replace the scope and make it overall a bit more interesting. But the concept art was made a few months ago, so it was a bit sucky. (and back then scopes were cool)

Depends on the virus really. Usually if you're unable to remove it yourself, it does pay off to take it to someone before a reinstallation if worse comes to worse. Also, repost, does anyone have that "Fixed" Sola Topi texture?

Is it possible to make a hat switch model when it's dropped from the player being killed? I was wondering if it was possible to make Heavy's rag turn into an untied rag with jigglebones on death. To make it appear as if it unties on death, and it's jiggleboned so it reacts to the world in a way more fit for a rag. I gave it a go in Paintshop, but I'm not sure how well it suits it? I like the idea of adding the red on the Tribalman's shiv, along with lighter stars for the fists. I <3 consistancy. As for the guitar, the only thing I could see that needs doing is flipping the pick guard. I posted a flipped version in the last emporium if you want to use that.
