Now I'm gonna be seeing Hachimaki scams, aren't we all?
If anyone scams two, feel free to lend me one. Please.
The Hacimaki is major bulshit.
Items are crazy overpriced the day they come out. I wouldn't even make an offer until a week or so.
Let the market decide the value, right now it's all just crazy.

Sad but true :(
I have never actually seen any "Scammers" besides myself actually pass their good fortune on to others :\
If I kept all my scams I'd be about half as rich as Wacka.
I know this will probably be shot down but how about everyone who gets good scams reguarly (Wacka, and others who get unusuals, buds, and bills with ease) doante one of their scams to the poor an irish.
Hey, hey you i give away alot of shit
Does anyone have anymore tips other than the one on the OP? I keep trying, but I never sound convincing enough. I try to get friendly with them. Is that the problem?
I basically do what is said in the OP. These are my basic steps.
TAPLK (Taking Advantage of People's Lack of Knowledge) steps
1. go to any random 2fort server (other maps work to but 2fort is noob central)
2. Open up your steam browser and go to tf2items.com (or another item viewer) also open up players in current game under steam menu.
3. Go through everyone in the server one by one, opening up their profiles.
4. Choosing a victim. Look for people with 180hrs or less game play. (or look for someone with like 500hrs, but only liike .2hrs in last 2 weeks)
5. check out their backpack to see if there is anything you like.
6. Send them a trade. if they accept, immediatly open up with a pleasnt greeting. "Hey" "Hi" "Hello" ect.
7. say something like "Do you happen to have "This item" by any chance", or "I was wondering if you had any hats you would trade for" something like that.
8. once they put up their item/hat, they will say something like "What are you offering" say this. "Well I don't like offering because it is a guessing game. What do yo want? what class do you play most?"
9. 9 out of 10 times they will mention a weapon they want. if they dont, put up a few weapons from the class they specify, try not to trade more than one or 2 weps per hat. put a few choices up and say something like "any of these?" or "which one/ones do you want?"
(or put up a hat or two if they have Buds/Bills/unusual)
Good luck
1. go to any random 2fort server (other maps work to but 2fort is noob central)
I usually surf around NighTeam, eGO, and Lotus. They're usually fake player counts, but there's always at least a few real players in there.
3. Go through everyone in the server one by one, opening up their profiles.
To elaborate on this one, look for people who have either no avatar or one of the default TF2 ones primarily. They're usually new enough to the game.
4. Choosing a victim. Look for people with 180hrs or less game play. (or look for someone with like 500hrs, but only liike .2hrs in last 2 weeks)
Be careful of hour counts. I tried to dupe someone with an Ellis hat who had less then 100 hours and they laughed it off and promptly closed the trade window. Look at the date they joined Steam, if they only have 50 hours of TF2 but they've been around since '05, chances are they probably know about the game more than their play time shows.
6. Send them a trade. if they accept, immediatly open up with a pleasnt greeting. "Hey" "Hi" "Hello" ect.
7. say something like "Do you happen to have "This item" by any chance", or "I was wondering if you had any hats you would trade for" something like that.
I usually introduce myself in the chat after I've picked a target. I'll usually say something like, "(User name), I was wondering if I could make an offer on some of your items?" and if they acknowledge the response, I send 'em a trade request.
8. once they put up their item/hat, they will say something like "What are you offering" say this. "Well I don't like offering because it is a guessing game. What do yo want? what class do you play most?"

I usually follow the same things. Be polite first and foremost, remember, you're trying to be charming, like a car salesman. The quicker you can commit them to a deal that favors you, the better. Being nice goes a long way, even on the internet. Ask them "How are you?" or say "Hello, etc." Always respond to them if they ask how you are. Remember, you are in a hurry, but you have to give the illusion you aren't.
After the niceties, ask if they're currently looking for any items. Like Rude said, if you can get them to commit to a certain weapon or class weapon, you've practically sealed the deal if you have that item or items. Never start off with hats, yer probably already overpaying if you do so. Remember, for the other person, the deal can only get better for them the longer the deal lasts.
More importantly, keep a stockpile of weapons on you. It can be old or new unlocks, it doesn't matter; there's a weapon for everyone that they want that they don't have. If you can supply and fulfill that demand, all the better for you.
Oh, one last tip. When you have picked your target, study which class they play frequently. If you can offer them items for a class they enjoy playing, all the better for you because they're going to want them once they realize you have something they want.
I wish someone would donate me a couple hats, I'm trying to get a good v. Hat for every class and I have no sources for more stuff to trade. I dont want to spend more of my dads money on keys. :frown:
And I've been trying to scam but haven't been really having any luck in the past couple weeks, everyones declining or denying

Enter my raffle for a chance at Unusual peace Noir or bills hat.
You can't lose, you always profit or break even.
I move for the notion that Mine and Rude's tips be updated into the OP. Hear hear.
Well, guess I'll be the first for the Hachimaki scam afterall, but I did keep potential targets on my list for the moment they would become tradable. But, I wanted the thing real bad, so I didn't dare lowball too much on this one.
Vintage Billycock + Vintage Camera Beard + Concheror.
Also, if anyone doubt the truth of this, feel free to browser and see my backpack history.
Explain your secrets!
ill be straight forward with you man. and anyone can take my advice. but its been stated im sure in many places here. be nice, make sure to offer them items they dont have, and try to act kinda dumb yourself. if they get the gut feeling their being outsmarted(OBVIOUSLY) then they will smarten up a bit.

Ok guys, at that time the Hachimaki just became tradable, everyone was asking for 2 heads (some people even wanted 3) so I thought I would just lower it a bit, I now know its like 3 buds now, but at the time I had no idea, atleast I was being more rational than alot of other people with a G.Hachimaki.
Hell, people are still asking for like 2-3 maxs heads
