Be polite. You have to check the guy you're scammings backpack first. Start up a trade, say something like "hi there! sorry to bug you..", and ask if he/she has a <insert class hat that they have> hat. Then, ask what they want. If they say another hat, lie and say "well i don't have a hat.. i have weapons if you'd like". Usually, it relies on luck from there. You just have to hope they like what they see.
Oh shit i forgot it was 3 scrap for reclaimed.

Tsk, the thing is I always presume my conversation partner has the same knowledge as me, I mean I would never trade a hat for a weapon (unless it's rare). So when I see someone having a hat I always presume he knows its value.
I suppose I need to change my thinking. I'm a bit too nice.

That can be used as a great scamming thing. I happen to have a friend, who is so stupid, I got his bills for 4 hats, which he traded for halloween masks. I loaned him some weapons to scam, and he got 5 hats. Then he traded them all for the facade.

Why would you let your friend do that?
Also, quite a high % of people have it so good luck finding someone who wants it. Ellis Cap is probably a better choice.
