It's bad if you like to taunt after your melee kills. Which I do :(
Pull out the shotgun and give them a 1-gun salute
One time I killed someone with the Equalizer but forgot I had it equipped and taunted.
Due to my death we had nobody defending the last cap on Granary and the enemy won :saddowns:
I actually kind of wish Valve would make it so you can cancel out of the taunt by moving, but your punishment for bailing out is that you lose your Equalizer until you go back to a resupply cabinet. :v:

Actually, you can. The DR doesn't nullify that much damage, if you get backstabbed and trigger your DR, you get, I think, 1 extra backstab before you're susceptible to a backstab death. The backstab does do over 1k damage, though, this I know. I've given people, and seen people get, Iron Kurtain off of JUST a backstab. It's a little bizarre.
The DR nullifies 90% of all damage, and a backstab does the target's current health x 6.
If a DR Spy has, say, two HP, a backstab will do 2*6, or 12, damage; add the 90% reduction (divide by 10) and it does 1.2 damage, which gets rounded down to 1.
If the Spy has 1 HP, it'll do 6 damage, but the reduction brings that down to .6. .6 gets rounded up to 1, so he dies.
Backstabbing a DR Spy at full health will do 75 damage.
Edit: I mean, obviously a backstab is an inta-kill, but I KNOW it'll deal over 1K damage to a Heavy at full/overhealed health.
It'll deal over 1000 damage to a Heavy because 300*6=1800. Backstabs don't do a constant amount of damage.
Downside: Medics get pissed if you take it out.
Melee weapons crit way too often in general.
You complain waaay too much, soon I will have to call the whaambulance, anyways the meele weapons deserve their increased crit chance's because, if you get close enough to somebody and get in that hit, the other guy deserved to die.
Please cut down on the nerf everything, hell I've seen almost nerf all posts by you.

Then why have I died to a backstab at 2 HP with the DR still active?
:iiam:
I remember taking down a heavy down with the equalizer with me never going below 150 HP.
Bitch got served.

"The Dead Ringer blocks 90% of the damage from the activating hit. This allows you to survive fully charged headshots by Snipers or backstabs from enemy Spies, as long as you have more than one health. Since backstabs have a base damage of 6 times the victim's current health, and the initial hit that activates the Dead Ringer does 10% damage, causing backstabs to do 6/10 of the victim's current health."
As with all the melee weapon unlocks, it's not an upgrade when used in the same way as the original, but when exploited carefully it becomes a weapon to be dreaded.
Except for the sandman, that just sucks all the time, now.

60% of 2 is 1.2, source engine always rounds up, so you die.
