I'm making it to replace the sandman so I don't have to rip apart the view models to the original bat as c_ models are far easier to replace. If I think it's half decent I'll then submit it to valve then release for everyone else.
I'm just saying I'm doubtful Valve will use this, or anything else that's too unique, as a weapon replacement due to the issues with the instant recognition they spent so much time perfecting.

The firespitter concept art is really nice looking. However even though it looks real awesome, I doubt Valve will accept it as a new weapon for two reasons. Firstly, it just looks like you improved the backburner, they look too alike. Secondly, changing more parts of the flamethrower would perhaps make it easier to distinguish from the backburner and the flamethrower. At the moment it would make a great replacement for the backburner, but it's not orignal enough to be it's own weapon.

Find the model you want to decompile and right click on it and choose "Edit with Notepad++". On the very first line, you should see IDST0. Change the 0 to a comma and it should become "IDST," and then save it. It should now work.

The IDST thing is your problem. Thing is, you don't have to decompile the player models, they come with the SDK.

I said that first, AND it's not even required. Check the sourcesdk.gcf and search medic.maya or medic.smd
