You textured the bone? Why the hell would you do that?
You get an error when exporting if there isn't a diffuse texture applied to a bone.
You get an error when exporting if there isn't a diffuse texture applied to a bone.
No you dont.
You get an error when exporting if there isn't a diffuse texture applied to a bone.
I didn't and have had no problems whatsoever. Also, Royzo made a Valve Heavy aeons ago. [editline]12:52AM[/editline] And I didn't say delete all but the head, I said delete ALL then import a Heavy hat which will bring its own bone.
Import the player model with bones intact for the class the hat is for. Delete the player model and all bones except bip_head. Add a skin modifier, add bone using said modifier, add texture to said bone, voila. That's why, he has way more experience than i do. Anyways i have the skin modifier to the model, and i don't get it.
Try my method. And don't texture no bones.
I've tried that too, i imported the football helmet, but i didn't see any bones
If there is an existing bip_head it won't add a new one. Delete all bones that came with the player and try again. Make sure you convert from left so the models aren't on their asses.
convert from left? i have no idea what that means
No you dont.
Ok, I just realized I only used to get it because I would add a skin modifier to the bone as well, thanks to the advice of someone here. Still, I've always added a texture to the bone and it gave me no problems.
Also Neo the Boonie for the gibus is giving me a vertex error or something.
What?
Ok, if anyone needs any help, go here http://www.mibbit.com/chat/ find gamesurge in the irc dropdown list, enter your name in the name box and type #tf2emporium in the channel box and click on go. I'll be in there to help.
convert from left? i have no idea what that means
I assume you are using Wunderboy's smd importer. After the first bunch of options you get an options screen with a bunch of options. At the bottom is Convert from left. This is used if the model was created in Maya and model ends up perpendicular to the axis. Valve use Maya hence you should do this to have you characters standing instead of lying. I was tired of seeing the "53 New Posts" Sign next to this thread, so I posted here. Usually, I would quote something or talk about what's going on right now, but I was too bored to do that.
Thanks tony for helping me with the texture..now I just need the hat black, and to fix the model up a bit and bam ready for release (well there's other things, but bleh i'm tired)
What?
It's completely invisible and when I try to open it in model viewer I get an error and it crashes. In game, this shows up in console when someone's wearing it: Error Vertex File for 'player\items\sniper\sniper_domination.mdl' id 7 should be 1448297545 and it repeats over and over.
we have an irc channel?
Yes, join.

Why must UV unwrapping be so hard!?! I can't make anything because I can't work with UV :( Thought then again I should just scrap this project, it's not like I can model anyway. It was going to be a big old robo head [editline]03:39AM[/editline] You guys have any tips on UV unwrapping in Blender? I always get this terrible mush of tringles that don't go in any specific order [editline]03:41AM[/editline] Also I'm not done with that model
It works, it finally works! Thanks to sparkwire, seneorgoat, and everybody else in this thread, i just would like to know how to make it a bit more shiny :)

You should probably delete your lightwrap temporarily for the sample images.
Seriously is there some sort of pattern to follow while unwrapping complex shapes or just guess through the whole thing and hope for the best?
