the darker an area on the texture is the shinier it is on the model it's like

Yeah, I think all of the grooves being straight makes it look strange. I'll try something different tomorrow.
I think the wooden grip would look better if the texture wasn't so full of vertical lines, if you know what I mean by that. Otherwise, great work, looks awesome.

I just realized that the skull is a demon skull of sorts and the fact that the Soldier has a dead demon's skull in the first place is slightly scary but very hardcore.
Idea: reskin Soldier to be the Doom marine.

and yeah there's a heart container mod on fpsb. I mainly use it because I can never remember which is full and which is half heal, it helps I guess.

You could revamp the model and send it in to Valve and then beg for them to make it into an unlock. (Probably wouldn't work, but you could try...)

As much as I'd like to, doing that would mess up the whole UV map, making the texture FlippR is making completely useless.
