Do you know why it was replaced?
Probably because it didn't fit the set's theme.
Probably because it didn't fit the set's theme.
Cool. I still want to work on it though, it fits the scouts theme perfectly and imo the boston basher doesn't really work that well.
Would it be alright if I tried to make one as well assuming I made it different enough? It's not like I'm not going to try to recreate his sai and pitch it as my own. I'm imagining a fairly different looking sai.
i'd say go for it, just don't be a fucking dumbass like i was

How does a fish in a newspaper fit the theme of a Milkman any better?
How does a fish in a newspaper fit the theme of a Milkman any better?
Better than a bat with nails.
How does a fish in a newspaper fit the theme of a Milkman any better?
Special delivery?
How does a fish in a newspaper fit the theme of a Milkman any better?
it's a delivery based set. So delivering the paper and food would make more sense than delivering a bat with nails, as a fish-wrapped-in-newspaper was already an existing concept in real life.
How does a fish in a newspaper fit the theme of a Milkman any better?
Well, take a look at this:

Notice anything that immediately looks wrong with the set?
I've never seen a deliveryman run up to my door delivering a bat with nails. (Although that could just be my neighborhood).
I have seen people delivering newspapers, and also people delivering milk, and in some cases home deliveries from the fish shop
My custom shotgun sounds are making that bullshit distorted, screeching noise, even on pure 0 servers. Does this have to do with the recent sound overhaul? How do you fix it?
Well, take a look at this:

ill see myself out

exactly what i was implying
Ey id like some input and advice/suggestions on this
Its a coil gun if anyone cant be bothered to guess

I'm trying to get it to look like it was made in a workshop out of milled parts rather than a factory, but i don't really have a concept to work off. (i might just scrap the receiver entirely, looks a little too blocky)
Spooley looking things on the barrel are meant to be copper electromagnets (as you'd imagine)
reminds me of the plasma sniper rifles in xcom.
Will think on it more over the weekend.

I dunno, the four barreled break action pistol? Not a lot of milkmen running around with those, neh chummer?
Maybe, maybe you can argue that "fish delivery" is marginally more fitting with the general theme (Milkmen deliver milk, not fish or newpapers) - but including the fish also makes the Shortstop make less sense than it would have otherwise, so overall it cancels out.
Personally I think the bat and the gun go well together - far better than the gun goes with the fish. And remember - the Scout's other melee weapons when this set came out were all baseball bats. Odds were good there would be a lot of Scouts running around with incomplete sets (this was when item trading was first introduced), meaning they would be wielding baseball bats anyway, and it's good design to make a set work well even when not complete.

(i'll be honest, i only remembered it because of that name)
Not gonna lie, that's pretty terribly executed. I'd love to see someone have another go at making a sai.
Fun little tidbit that I'm 100% sure you don't care about, but both my wife and I each own a pair of traditional okinawan sai. In the forms we learned, they're actually more commonly used to block/parry long weapons (like swords and staves) and bludgeon than to stab or pierce. If you do pierce, you'd go for weak areas like the solar plexus or neck, because they're really not that sharp. The back would be one of the last places I'd try stabbing someone with a blunt object - yeah it'd probably break skin, but it by no means would incapacitate them.
But then again, icicles can pierce metal oxygen tanks and medi backpacks so I suppose blunt metal isn't all that farfetched.

TF2 rationalizes itself by simply refusing to rationalize anything at all. Gotta love it.

The pepper box type guns were mainly marketed for civilian self defense, as im pretty sure that some deliverymen carry concealed weapons in case of a robbery.
Do you know why it was replaced?
Well it's unknown pretty much maybe because 1.doesn't fit the whole pack and 2.It was abandoned and was reworked for the later Boston Basher but I think the creator said that no one is allowed unless he has the permission to revive this submission.
I've always wanted a spiked baseball bat in tf2.....
....But I guess the "Boston Basher" took the spot, eh?....
I wonder.........who else could rock a baseball bat for a Melee weapon..?

Someone COULD always make a cricket bat with nails through it for Sniper, could be cool alone or in a set, with or without nails actually
I had a few ideas and such. Please excuse my scanner... :P

Also coloured the Thunderclap...

They are all pretty rushed little sketches but all seem really well designed to me! :P :D
Finished the hookshot texture!

I'm not as bad at texturing as I thought I was. The envmap makes it look way to shiny, that's just a thing hlmv does because it's dumb.
Expect it tomorrow or the following day!
EDIT: Relooking at the texture ingame and I'm not 100% happy with it. So this isn't the final, but close to it.

Didn't want to show this till it was done but since we've got a couple of very similar design ideas in common thought I should. Been working on a coilgun-based shotgun as well:

Currently in the process of texturing.

Lol sorry for the size :P
Yeah just some quick flat shading.
Do T instead of IMG. Also, are the shotguns going to be their own separate weapon for each class, or is it the same weapon, but different for each class?

How exactly does that first one work? The magazine isn't connected.

Anything I need to add / remove?
Also, should I keep the handle bit at the bottom?
3D View
It's a nice model but it could use some exaggeration on the blade area, right now it's too smoothed out and uniform, it could really benefit from some larger edges, created with less polies. Widen out the the blade as well, it's a bit too thin.
Take a look at the horsemann's axe, see how it's blade is formed around the edges.
[t]http://img3.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20120502031914/villains/images/3/3e/Unusual_Horseless_Headless_Horsemann%27s_Headtaker.png[/t]
I think something in between the axe and what you have now is what you should shoot for.
Do T instead of IMG. Also, are the shotguns going to be their own separate weapon for each class, or is it the same weapon, but different for each class?
K I'll edit that. They are all different. I probably need to destinguish them better...

In a pump action shotgun the shells are typically stored in the tube the pump slides on
[T]http://thefunnybeaver.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/How-A-Pump-Action-Shotgun-Works-featured.jpg[/T]
On one of your designs there is no tube for the shells.
