There, made new sounds for that thing, got new projectiles working in game, and made LOD's. What you guys think about sounds? Could anything else be improved? Would like criticism. And, i got another question, for some reason, my model appears invisible in SFM, how do i fix that? :v:
It sounds like a sharp metallic tang ringing in my ears. Also if you're going to make a video showcasing sounds make sure you don't have any other sound mods enabled at least, it can be distracting.

Although, that's what i first thought when i tried iron bomber, but then got used to it. Either way, gonna fix that and make it softer, i guess. Thanks for tip

Thanks for tip
Don't think "oh people will just get used to it" when you do sounds as that's just bad sound design. Also the Iron bomber is a 4 shot weapon as well, not a 40 shot so different practices apply. Consider how the other needleguns sound and how you can take a similar route.

I tweaked the sound a bit, (However, i lost my source file, genius me forgot to save again :v:) and mixed it with TF2's normal syringe gun. It sounds less crap compared to my other one, and its close to stock, but it still sounds different. But, if it doesn't help it, i guess i will just go with Valve's default one. [Edit, too much although.]
I along the rest of the people gave enough feedback on the item, and it went all unnoticed or barely affected the development of the item.
Woah... Hold the fuck on. Yes, it doesn't look like it right now, but i do take every bit of feedback that i recieve into consideration, so don't say it's unnoticed. Weather or not i decide to use the feedback is my choice. If you want to make a nail bat the exact way you and the rest of the community wants then by all means fucking go for it. I'm still making it, so expect things to change dramatically, even though its being shown in hlmv. It's just the way i work.
wich only makes one wonder if he really takes it into consideration, because so far he seems to be here for showcase and doesnt really feel like taking into account what has been sigested to improve the desing.
Yeah, ok, like i said above, i am taking them into consideration. Yes, i am here for showcase, but i am also here for help with modeling. I'm doing this as a side hobby, not a fucking money making job. I'm not looking to make money off of TF2, I'm doing this because i like TF2 and wanted to see if i could improve my modeling skills while doing something i enjoy.
Consider how your own projects have improved over time given you've analized what has been suggested and you'll realise that by now the bat should be something completely different and more developed than it is now.
I realize that this comment was directed at BlueNES, but this pushed the line. I interpreted the second part of this comment as "Yeah, you can see that even a fucking moron could realize that the bat still looks like a piece of shit". Weather or not that is what you meant by saying that, that still fucking sounds really cunty. I'll admit it, i suck at modeling. most of you are already out of high school, and some of you have graduated with (im assuming) graphic design degrees. I'm still in high school, and basically am working on this in my free time. It's something i would like to pursue as a career path. I may suck, but at least i fucking try to improve. I don't even fucking have a tablet for drawing with, so yeah, my textures suck, i'm doing em with a mouse. I accept that i may suck, that i may annoy people with the stupid shit that clearly shouldn't happen. But when you fucking rub it in my face, thats when i get mad. Sorry about this rant, continue on with your projects. Rate this dumb all you want, it's just how i fucking feel. I'm going to work on the bat a ton more before it is even being considered to be released.
I suppose it's not the emporium if it doesn't come with its fair share of drama.

I've been making items since October 2013, but it wasn't until year later when I made that Egyptian set where I saw more potential. I may have improved over time, but it's been very slow and I've still got a lot to learn (like rigging, texturing metal, hair and clothes, etc). Whenever I see someone who's an expert at item making upload an item or a WIP (such as Svdl, Blah, Colteh) it worries me that I'll never get to that level of skill, or whether or not the community will still be active if I do. Your problem, is that you upload items BEFORE YOU FINISH THEM. you have the potential to get exceedingly better, but if you just put a little more time and effort into your item making, people will appreciate your work. Also, don't worry if people are talking shit about you, just keep improving and you'll get there 👍

What do yall think?
It's quite black overall. I'd give the ammo drum a different shade of grey or maybe a little brownish tone. The bright grey screws stick out a bit too much - I'd darken those.

Seems like the phongmask is missing and the vmt not set back to the original values.
Can I ask how exactly one would go about doing so? Because I've got quite a few black items that could use fixing.
Take a look at this VMT:
"VertexLitGeneric" { "$basetexture" "models/item/paintable_item" "$bumpmap" "models/shared/shared_bumpmap" "$blendtintbybasealpha" "1" "$blendtintcoloroverbase" "0" "$colortint_base" "{ 65 119 32 }" "$color2" "{ 65 119 32 }" "$colortint_tmp" "[0 0 0]" "Proxies" { "ItemTintColor" { "resultVar" "$colortint_tmp" } "SelectFirstIfNonZero" { "srcVar1" "$colortint_tmp" "srcVar2" "$colortint_base" "resultVar" "$color2" } } } //Green: {65 119 32} //Red: { 124 16 19 } //Blue: { 48 73 102 }
- The proxies at the bottom allow the paint to be swapped in real time. - $colortint_base tells the material what color should be the default unpainted tint. - $color2 should be the same value as $colortint_base. - $blendtintbybasealpha set to 1 tells the material you are only blending the color tint according to the alpha mask in the $basetexture, all TF2 items use a $basetexture alpha I think. - $blendtintcoloroverbase is set to 0 because you want to blend the tint using the above method with the alpha mask. Using this method would bypass the alpha mask and tint the entire texture. Lastly, use this color script: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=216446685&searchtext=color When using this script you have to select the "Base tint" blend option to get the desired effect. When using that color script I think you can make the paint work without changing the VMT parameters but I don't completely remember.
the weapon desing looks extremely flat and boring. it almost feels like its so barebones i'll break the moemnt it hits something/its fired.
Unfortunately, I didn't design the weapon. And I think it's much too late to change the model a lot, since it would require re-uving and that would probably require a lot of retexturing. But if anyone does have any ideas on how to make it look better, let me know.
the weapon desing looks extremely flat and boring. it almost feels like its so barebones i'll break the moemnt it hits something/its fired.
Really? Cause if i hit somebody in real life with that thing, i don't think they would be getting back up. It looks fine, although the textures could use a little more color/design, from far away it looks like base gray, you might want to add some rough patches on the drum with silver wear [editline]18th April 2015[/editline]
Tutorial
You can also right click on the model in the animation set viewer, click add overide materials, then click show element in viewer, and click model. look under the materials tab, there should be a $Basetintcolor parameter or something like that, change that. i think it should work for most items already in tf2
add some more wear and maybe scratches to the 'barrel' of it so it doesnt look so smooth
I know, I'm still gonna work on the texture. I thought what metaru was saying was that the whole design of the gun itself wasn't up to par, not just the texture.
I think the main issue is the way the drum is attached, the barrel looks really cool as is. Imo the barrel could have a much bigger clamp around the top of it too bulk it up a bit Probably coudl use a better design than this but you get the idea hopefully

after strongly inspired by bapaul's design suggestion, I made magazine part bit 'fancy' before applying it to actual model, can you guys give me some feedback?

Now that's what I call a creative item! really digging it
