If you are making a weapon just for the sake of having it be cool, you may be making it for the wrong reasons. :v:
what other reason is there to mod skins in your game besides making it look cool?
what other reason is there to mod skins in your game besides making it look cool?
Well I thought he was gonna submit it to the workshop, but I guess rather he just wanted it as a mod or something?
add me on steam, i can make a mod for you. or you can download itemtoast, which should be on the front page, and compile the mod super easy and super quickly. hope this helps
This made it so much easier, thank you. I found the problem though: the importer produces a zip file for the workshop, and an unpacked version that I guess it uses for the previewer. The zipped version did not use the physics model properly, but the other one did. I guess that's another thing they need to fix *throws on massive pile along with SDK* The working mod of my hat, The Split Personality, for whoever's interested: http://tf2.gamebanana.com/skins/138354 Thanks!
what other reason is there to mod skins in your game besides making it look cool?
I know I'm new here, and it's not really my place, but what I tend do see is that if someone creating something, through any medium, cares more about making their project look 'cool' than the item itself, then it comes out dis-interesting. Like excessive slow motion in a movie where you could understand what's going on without it being in slow motion. Slow-mo should be used to allow you to understand something that is really cool. This does not mean that things done in slow motion are cool.

If they tried to be cool and ended up being cool then that's cool and everything's fine and dandy. The goal of item modelling for TF2 is basically 100% aesthetic appeal, so the whole point is for it to look cool.

If you're not having fun with it and enjoying yourself, it's not gonna turn out well.
Most people that make weapons just as a mod make them to have fun, because they think it looks nice, for practice, etc. If you made something that perfectly fits TF2's artstyle, then why not upload it to the workshop? It might get in the game that way. But that's none of my business v:v:v
Burning Rubber: Racecar driver set for Pyro, item separation is like this: [t]http://puu.sh/f83Wt.png[/t][t]http://puu.sh/f83WL.png[/t] I was also debating designing a striped helmet to go with it, but it might be kinda redundant because of the Human Cannonball. Up for grabs, add me on steam if you're interested.

If someone goes into a project hoping to make something that is unappealing, it will be unappealing, and if you have a positive attitude towards your piece then it will help make a good piece. I guess what I was trying to say is, the more you genuinely care about what you make, the more enjoyment you will get from it when it's done, and often times people will see more reason to care about it themselves. Coolness can be a byproduct of a great work, as well as an end goal.
Make the orange sections in Cream Spirit. After doing that, try showing the item with Conjurer's Cowl, it may be a very nice combination.

What a very smart decision.
Sound like you always have something to say.
Sound like you always have something to say.
He was talking about your decision to draw the Conjurer's Cowl, instead of just load it up in hlmv and draw over that.
[QUOTE=G. the problem is that the gun desing itself doesnt look cool at all. it looks like the fantasy of a 12 year old who simply glued a bunch of cool looking parts together without really being worried if they actually looked nice as a whole. because lets face it, its a bunch of parts glued together for the sake of. it doesnt help to think he didn't even model a good part of this when he added that drum magazine a while ago that was basically ripped from borderlands 2
Whether you think the gun is cool looking or not is irrelevant to whether or not HE thinks it looks cool. After all he's the one making it. Almost feels like you are dumping on it for the sake of dumping on it.
The gun looks good in a model viewer. From the pictures I've seen in-game, however, it's way too small and doesn't fit the colour palette most TF2 guns have that give them their unique, rustic feeling. It also doesn't really stand out from the Widowmaker bar the shoulder rest/stock/whatever and the different grey palette. It's a good practice weapon model but I think when it's finished you should try making other weapons and developing more. It'll work fine as a personal mod.
It doesn't matter if the gun isnt "cool" or "good looking" If he likes it then leave him be. I know it doesn't really fit the tf2 artstyle but it is still good modelling and texturing practise for him, the only way for him to get better is to practise :)
My childhood would be complete if someone base Pyro on Kamen Rider  Cosmetic: 1. The Helmet with Scarf 2. The Chest with Belt 3. The Gloves and Boots
He was talking about your decision to draw the Conjurer's Cowl, instead of just load it up in hlmv and draw over that.
He got the resource pack including the REF poses. Not everyone knows how to use HLMV here. Radaghast, you can read here for how to set-up HLMV. You can add me on Steam if you need more help.

Sure the quality of the lighting isn't as good and you can only preview RED team (as far as I know), but it's simple to use and doesn't require any downloads.

It would have never been in the final project not only because it isnt my model but also because of the fact that im past that stage where i insisted that something that was blatently someone elses was in fact actually mine. I agree with WnR, i think that you are intentionly stirring the pot and creating trouble that not only isnt productive and helpful, but clogs up the thread and makes people mad. I understand that people may not like how it looks but to be honest i like how it looks and in the end that is what counts. I dont really care if it doesnt get in the game, if i submit it to the workshop does it effect you in any way? I dont care if it gets in the game because its good practice for me and will help me become a better modeler in the future. And if it does get in the game (which it won't) it still wont effect you because it will just be another item in the game. Hating on my ideas just takes up valuble emporium space, takes away from the helpful spirit of this thread, and makes people mad. TL;DR: Dont be a dick, its not helpful

The Conqueror Something to go with the Hero's Tail /El Jefe / Wilson Weave /Thirst blood and some others (Made it with TFMV ,thanks for the tips)
blah blah quote about shotgun design
Really? Because it looks a lot like a KSG to me. On another note, I keep occasionally getting a burst of new comments on a really old item and it's very confusing.

Isn't he 23 years old ?
Isn't scout like 23? I'm pretty sure its possible to have a full beard by that point in time. Hell, I've know 18 year olds with beards that would put something like that to shame.
I'm 20 and have never remotely had even the hopeful beginnings of a beard
when he added that drum magazine a while ago that was basically ripped from borderlands 2
are you gonna mention that on every reply to him like please get over it and face the guy is trying to make his own shit on his own time, and he's actually taking advices
scout is simply unable to grow a beard.
