MvM Discussion Megathread: Do Androids Complain of Overpowered Upgrades?

I disagree. stickies nerf is major and the demo loses around 25k per game now. You don't always have time to wait the delay, even for traps.
My report on new weapons
Backscatter : Fun but nothing interesting or amazing. 2-shotters (popper and fan) already fill the damage niche.
Parachute : Hilariously amusing, but not much useful. Hitscan robots benefit from it, but it helps making projectile robots waste their shots. It makes splashing groups easier, though, but banners still reign.
Air Strike : Not as bad as I thought, but the beggar bazooka does a better job pretty much anytime, be it from "airstriking" or spamming massive clips.
Tide Turner : Crit chains can already be achieved with a crit-on-kill sword upgrade. It's better to kill medics in an emergency with, but the targe's resistances are simply more useful at the end of the day.
Classic :
just tested the rifle
it is absolutely the worst rifle in the game for mvm. I'll try to explain
basically you can't score headshots until you hit 100% charge. Any headshot you attempt will not trigger explosive headshots until you do have 100% charge.
Additionally, the gun allows you to headshot without zooming. However, explosive headshots is ONLY triggered in zoom-mode, and at 100%.
it's terrible. It's only better than huntsman in utility because it can ES, but really slowly. Even the sydney is miles ahead.
on a funny note it makes giant robots explode in blood
50% damage penalty on ANY kind of sticky, crit or not, no matter how long it have been out for is devastating. Demo has been kicked out of the "Eldergod" tier in mvm and now sniper reign it alone.
Yes I am fucking pissed that valve can't code worth shit and made all stickies deal 50% less damage. A 8 crit sticky trap with max damage upgrades deals 2600~ damage now in perfect conditions.

Pulled my post out from SPUD.
After extensive testing (with random damage spread disabled, as the wiki's standard), here's what I know so far:
1. Sticky from the moment you shoot out has a 50% damage reduction (I guess this is what Valve calls fall off in the patch, but that's not true).
2. This Damage reduction stacks with falloff, thus hindering winbombing a lot.
3. Stickies will gain their base damage back during that 2 seconds (which it goes from 50% reduction back to 100% base damage again). Since each sticky from the SL needs 0.92 second before it can be detonated, it's impossible to get 50% damage reduction all time. Instead, if you're going for winbombing, your stickies will only deal about 60-65% of base damage slapped on top of damage fall-off.
According to the wiki, the old base sticky damage is 120 and the maximum ramp up it could reach is 115% (which it'd deal 138 damage, 137 usually since it's impractical to detonate right inside of a hitbox). Every sticky I shoot right under a Heavy's feet, standing right in front of the Heavy's face and detonate as soon as it's ready deals 83-84 damage. Now what's 60% of 138?
4. The old 5 seconds rule is still there. If you leave the stickies on the ground long enough, all damage falloff is completely negated (minus splash if the target is far obviously), always deal the original base damage.
5. Critical stickies are affected by this damage reduction too.
Simple version: Valve slapped a 50% damage reduction that stacks with damage falloff on a timer to prevent you from winbombing. Those who plants traps only (or using the SR since it takes 1.72s before you can detonate one) will not be affected by this change much.
I'm making a video demonstration too so you guys don't have to worry about me pulling this out of nowhere.
Hope this helps for those main Demoman wondering about sticky's current damage potential. Also, it's possible that they stealth patched this stupid "falloff" on the last update since before my tests, sticky's damages were very inconsistent.
updated my upgrades post on the first page
also added a small list of general things to fix in mvm
also chair-cart

You OK there?
You OK there?
Something wrong with it?
not sure what to do with bison. right now it's too weak to be a real primary but it could easily be too strong.
shrug
also bot demoknights have been nerfed by the bread update. they turn like real players now.

the inner bot is using the tide turner, the outer bot is a normal samurai

You guys haven't seen a team of 3 or more fully upgraded bisons have you?
yes. it's still mediocre vs uber meds and giants.
try it on expert and you won't be impressed
Give it the pompom's uber drain as an upgrade then?
Give it the pompom's uber drain as an upgrade then?
I'd rather see pomsom have its drain ability removed.
I'd rather see pomsom have its drain ability removed.
For PvP sure, I absolutely hate the pompom, but MvM is different and I could actually see the drain mechanic actually working in it.

Robots would become sentient and make threads on SPUF complaining about it being op.

Good luck getting through all the Tide Turner complaints.
I decide to try the airstrike in MVM, it seems pretty fun
180 tour heavy lectures me about how it isn't the best weapon, i explain any weapon is fine in the hands of a good player
later the heavy is getting sniped, and instead of asking the scout who's next to the snipers to kill him, he starts barking at me for not killing them, because it's my job
i ask where the scout was and he just goes "this isn't about the scout it's about you"
this is basicially a show at this point since i have 60 tours and am pulling my weight fine, only a few hundred damage under the demo on round 1, and the heavy is barking how low my dps is
he spends the round sitting in spawn yelling at me instead of fighting robots, and then when we lose says "all soldiers fault" and i get votekicked
it's almost comical how quick high tours are to find scapegoats when they get killed
and i get votekicked
Saddest part in this entire story.
God I don't know why but I just can't beat Day of Wreckning. Took me forever to beat Wave 2 just to get our asses beat on Wave 3. This is the last mission I need to beat this tour, and I just can't. Ugh
Does anyone have the time in the near future to help me with Mannslaughter? I can never find a team, and when I rarely do they go full potato on me and make summer 2city look like fucking UGC Platinum.
You pretty much need a 5-6 man premade team to beat Mannslaughter now. My usual group could probably help you.
Tried to beat Day of Wreckening, get an Engie who built his stuff next the the bomb hatch and scout not helping us and not listening to us. Remind me again how I'm supposed to beat this shit without partying with 5 people.

I actually like it. I wish they could have made an upgrade for some weapons in MvM that stun robots in their place, but they would still shoot.
Also, holiday punching Sentry busters seem like a nice strategy.
His point isn't that holiday punch was indirectly buffed by the ledgeslide taunt fix nor that holiday actually works on the robots (it always worked people just never spent the 2 sec it would take to figure out how it actually worked). We figured this out like 1 day after the update.
The point is that people act surprised that it actually works and the dumb comments like "wow nice find". Equipping mittens and tickling 1 robot to see they work different now is apparently too hard for the majority of mvm players.
The other point is that people will report this to valve now and completely ruin the mittens in mvm and thereby ruin a perfectly fine weapon and tactic.
Wow, why is this thread so dead?
People don't like mvm and we don't talk about small things that happen for us like in the big fat general.
[sp]Also no raffles [/sp]
Until we get new tours/missions there really isn't much to talk about in MVM nowadays other than "wow!!!!! I got gold weapon!!!! wow!!!!"
And even then most of that generally just ends up in the stuff you love/General Chat
because i'm not posting screenshots :v:
in all seriousness, it represents exactly the same deal with mannup right now; exhausted and uninteresting.
valve created a highly-versatile population file system that is almost not depending on maps or map entities and they aren't taking advantage of it.
they insist on taking the (long) time to create whole new maps from scratch and all the bullshit that comes with it (rendering, testing, etc) rather than make new pops on old maps.
basically, this here was possibly the best MvM update we've ever had, and it was also possibly the least time-consuming for valve.
Any of chances of us getting a new tour this year?
