Ubers aren't game breaking though, the game just revolves around them because they're what makes up a push. If two teams had equal DM then holding last would never ever end because a team would go in, get destroyed, and then respawn and destroy the other team as they push into mid. Ubers change that. The game becomes more fast paced because of the fear that your enemy could go invicincible if you wait too long.
Well, yeah, he's a very team-dependent kind of class that can't accomplish much on his own. His ubers, though, are game-breaking mechanics that can break even the hardest of well defended spots in competitive modes. It's why they banned the Vita-Saw- because ubers are just so powerful.
No, they banned it because in the setting of competitive, being able to kill the enemy medic and make them lose their uber is important. If they have a way to save some of their uber after death, there's no reason to ever not use it. It's ok in pubs because teams aren't coordinated very well coordinated, and while competitive has a maximum of 1 Medic per team pubs may have several anyways; saving your uber isn't as vital.

Thanks for setting me straight about it.
good thing medigun pick-up is here to mess up everything again instead of the vita-saw
good thing medigun pick-up is here to mess up everything again instead of the vita-saw
Wait so you can pick up charged Mediguns? Didn't know that.
yes you can even pick up your own medigun that you died with and just pretend nothing happened the only twist is you have about 25 second to do it
It's impossible to make a weapon that's the same for every class and not have it be underpowered or overpowered for at least one of the classes stock melee is the safest they could get and look how that turned out. Even with 2 classes we can fuck up in the case of the RS and Zatoichi.

One of the main reasons I've been so vigorously training my aim is so I can actually kill targe demoknights with the shotgun since they're basically immune to explosive damage, i.e. they can take 3 rockets to the face without dying

The gun mettle update dropped my FPS too much to make it playable, so I'm actually pretty annoyed.
Shotgun? With which class?
the class that shoots explosives that he specifically mentionned
the class that shoots explosives that he specifically mentionned
Demoman :v:
The gun mettle update dropped my FPS too much to make it playable, so I'm actually pretty annoyed.
You could put +cl_forcepreload 1 into Launch command. I've used that when this happened and i've got a stable framerate, even on max settings (Anyone noticed that Valve removed 16x AA options?) [sp]Hello from Georgia[/sp]
I really dislike when people complain about taunting, because they're giving the person what they wanted and more importantly hurting their own game by being so easily frustrated. Because people complain so much, I actually think it's a viable and strategic thing - you get people so on the edge that they can't bring their A-Game and do something about it, rather than complain.
Taunting is a great strategy when fighting a superior player. Get a few lucky kills and a domination then taunt. Suddenly their only focus is you and they start to waver in their ability to actually support their team.
Taunting is a great strategy when fighting a superior player. Get a few lucky kills and a domination then taunt. Suddenly their only focus is you and they start to waver in their ability to actually support their team.
This actually happened today with me, although I wasn't upset. There was this demoman who absolutely destroyed me all round long, so my mentality was that he should be focused on as he's destroying the team. Last second, I kill him, but because the point was open we lost. I use a similar strategy. On my Scout, I have the Wrap Assassin because it layers damage nicely and because it can force people away from important objectives. Flames do the same trick. They're not going to sit on the point, they're going to focus on grabbing health and stuff like that. If I peeve them enough, they're going to focus on me. I will often make sacrifices for the team by leading an enemy into the middle of nowhere to fight so my medic can run back to safety and I can deal with him away from the objective. Regardless of whether I die or not, he's wasted a bunch of time he could have spent on the point. Dying is something to obviously avoid, but it is much more important to think of the greater good. Detracting the team from that as much as possible will give you the advantage.
If there is one thing I get irritated by, it's the fact that all projectile weapons I use spawn the projectile about 0.25 seconds later, but I remember there being commands to fix that kinda shit, or am I wrong? I've seen gameplay videos where the projectiles come out instantly. This stuff is ruining Huntsmanning for me.
the class that shoots explosives that he specifically mentionned
Well, that was beautiful. I still go for Demoman. I don't know about cl_interp, though. Probably cl_interp_ratio is the real deal here.
Oh, you wanted to connect to a new server? ...uhhh no, you get a crash instead. Thanks for playing.
I hate that, despite having had cosmetic items as a thing for literally years, when the Spy disguises, it hides all cosmetic items on them. I mean, mask/face items I get, so that allies can tell what class you're disguised as. But why hats? Why suit miscs? Seeing as spies spend so much time disguised, it means that their cosmetic items are invisible like 95% of the time. And there's really no need for it.

Bonus points if it spawns you just in time for your humiliation period.
Bonus points if it spawns you just in time for your humiliation period.
Bonus points if you get dominated because of this.
Bonus points if you get dominated because of this.
Bonus points if the guy who dominates you also taunts you.
Bonus points if the guy who dominates you also taunts you.
I was never dominated when killed after spawning with 0.05 seconds left before losing, but if whoever killed me also taunted me with something like a killer solo or a schadenfreude I would just be like "let's just pack our stuff up and disappear from here. Running."
good thing medigun pick-up is here to mess up everything again instead of the vita-saw
They banned that too, along with weapon pickups in general, because they've been playing the same meta for years and can't adapt to changes in the game. This is part of why I think valve is unwanting to deal with the competitive community, and has been for years. Hopefully Valve-run matchmaking with no or very few limits will help change the mindset of that community.
Bonus points if you get dominated because of this.
Why would this bother you? It's a technicality. It's like being switched last second to be told you lost, when I would still consider it a personal win.
Why would this bother you? It's a technicality. It's like being switched last second to be told you lost, when I would still consider it a personal win.
Your example about being switched last second is invalid. The feeling that "it still doesn't count" is automatic, and not everybody is as convinced that "the important thing is competing" as your average over-optimistic hippie is. Bonus points if you say that it's your own fault for being autobalanced. Victory was stolen from you, and it remains a fact, even if you know that it's because of how the game itself works.
