calling that a flowchart is like calling fighting game combos recipes. it's not that easy; the reason not everyone is doing it is because it does take reasonably good reflexes. not just the flaregun, also the reserve shooter.
Fighting game combos take a lot more effort and execution than a Pyro combo does. Not everything links into one another, positioning is extremely important lest the next hit whiff entirely and leave yourself open to a counterattack. Plus there's also the little detail that fighting games are built for combos.
Pyro's combo is as simple as: approach, M2, 2, M1. That's as basic as a light-medium-fierce combo.
People wouldn't raise a stink about it if Pyro's means of controlling player positioning actually was a knockback and not a stunlock. It's the reason why Reserve Shooter gets the flak it does when used on Pyro, but when a Soldier uses it it's apparently A-Okay. People hated the Sandman when it completely robbed its target of mobility, people still loathe it now. Stuns and FPS don't mix.

Flaregun? Yeah. It's a projectile weapon with a long reload, you gotta make it count.
Reserve Shooter? Nope. Shooting someone stunlocked in place/launched in a predictable arc with a hitscan weapon with 4 shots isn't exactly hard, unless someone has problems finding their "2" key.
I have more respect for Pyro players who are able to ambush me and my team, wiping everyone out with a "noob" weapon like Backburner or Phlog rather than airblasting single people into a wall. The former have actually outplayed you by managing to sneak up on you like that, still, they will be called out for w+m1 90% of time.
Pockets ruin powerhouse pubs TBH.
I never understood that. Both are playing competitive TF2, they are subsets of the same community. There's a lot of intersection too (like every other UGC profile I see have participation medals from 6v6, HL and even 4v4). I feel the arguement that says that in 6s each player's contribution counts more since there's less players, but both formats seem enjoyable to me.
I really don't understand the elitism-flavored arguements from either side :v:
6s players want to play something closer to quake, HL players want to play something closer to tf2, personally I tried both and both formats made me realize tf2 has so many flaws on the stock level to be played both ways. 4v4 I enjoyed because it allowed for more variety, but overall tf2 needs a ton of changes at the stock level for it to be a well balanced competitive game, especially sniper, spy, pyro, and heavy. This annoys me to no end because for someone like me who has tried comp and not enjoyed it, but at the same time wants to be able to play pubs without constantly having to play soldier, demo, or heavy to carry the 4+ snipers and spies theres very little I can do since most community servers I visit only have traffic on saturday nights since the great quickplay massacre. Theres no middleground for someone who wants to play tf2 semi seriously but doesnt want to play in restrictive formats.

even if airblast was fixed reserve shooter would still be immensely stupid. Theres a reason valve never originally gave it to pyro, for soldier its an opportunity weapon that happens when you aim a rocket just right, with pyro its press m2 for easy free minicrits, made even easier by the degreaser. The reserve shooter should have just never been given to pyro. They should just remove it from pyro, make it only minicrit on enemies launched by explosions, and give pyro a new shotgun with a different less broken and cheap mechanic, and people who had strange Pro KS reserve shooters for pyro will receive one of this new shotgun in the same quality to compensate.
also revert the axtinguisher nerf because we shouldn't balance the game around bad players with no gamesense

Most Powerhouse games I've been in have had at least 1 pocket per team. Once the midpoint is captured the game just goes on and on and on

This was actually the reason I don't want to play 6s and instead want to get into HL. That was before I had a main, and I could have decided to start getting good at almost any class in either 6s or HL. But with 6s I was scared, especially if I played demo or medic, of dropping and essentially losing the match for my team. I eneded up just letting my main find itself, and it ended up being heavy, and even though heavy is a big pick in HL it will rarely make or break a match unless the combo is under fire and your team is mostly dead.

When medics just decide to plop down and chill out doing nothing while you're trying to backdoor.

No the reason why not literally everyone is doing it is that not literally everyone has over 10 hours on Pyro.
All these foundry hats yet i haven't bothered to get the milestone, i really dislike those achievements.
This one is actually a Doomsday hat. Obtaining milestone achievements is simple. Just grab a friend or 2 and go to the empty server.
On topic: All-class melee weapons or rather how extremally low effort Valve put in them. First person animations: horrible. Third person animations: horrible (just take any all-class melee weapon and taunt as Pyro/Medic and you'll see what I mean). Also in most cases they re-use sound effects of stock melee weapons which results in a wooden hammer making glass breaking sounds when hit a wall. Also, the fact that Heavy can't taunt with any of the all-class weapons except of Saxxy.
No the reason why not literally everyone is doing it is that not literally everyone has over 10 hours on Pyro.
That's literally just a large exaggeration. Or an overestimation of the intelligence of an F2P game's community.
I'm pretty sure I've discovered flarestinguisher very early into playing pyro, flares and reserve shooter aren't really any different. It's just a matter of playing against a single guy doing it and copying what he does, it's not exactly like there's a degree of skill involved. You only get faster as you get a few hours practice, but it's not hard to pick up and pull off from get-go. You're literally shooting down stunlocked people. You don't need to predict their movement. You just get close, the airblast itself doesn't require any aim whatsoever since it always perfectly stunlocks people at the exact same spot in midair, and then you just aim and shoot. It's a matter of muscle memory, not skill.
[editline]25th August 2015[/editline]
But yeah my point was that the only people who don't do it are those who have no idea what's going on or those who recognize it as broken-ass design and prefer vanilla for the sake of everyone.
i assume because we're posting on an internet forum that, however dumb you guys think forum posters can get, that we're more aware and conscious than the hordes of people that barely just discovered a computer and decided to install every F2P game that their 200kbps internet can allow and that their macbook can run; you discovered it early because you were thinking.
[editline]24th August 2015[/editline]
and I'm fairly certain a lot of the guys in this thread are forgetting what their hundreds of hours of play did for them. it's all so easy when you've got the muscle memory laid out for you already and you've been playing FPSes for years. back in 2008 I couldn't comprehend how people could hit things with the flaregun or coordinate the airblast strikes. And 2008 by no means makes me an old-time player.
Speaking of
It's annoying how I started playing in early 2009 however I still get the same mercenary badge as anybody who joins the game today
I think they need updating slightly
They really should have introduced a different badge when the game went F2P.
Stone badges will do.
I miss the " switch weapon before taunting" thingy. It was fun to see heavy spin his chaingun during taunts. Or engineer spin his wrench really fast.
I haven't played the game in ages so I don't know if it has been fixed yet. Valve did promise in some update long ago that they would fix it in the future.

if i remember correctly, they re-added it as a serverside convar, but it's turned off by default, so it's only available on servers that deliberately add it in, which is almost none of them
i haven't played on a server with it in years. i don't even know if it works any more after the big taunt overhaul back in the love & war update, and i could totally see valve accidentally breaking a feature that no one uses like that.

I completely forgot about those hats
I should wear mine more
Playing cp_ as engie with mini-sentries just to see some other guy also playing engie.
With the Minisentries.
When that happens I kinda feel forced to switch just so players in RED actually still have fun, I personally hate fighting against two mini-engies. A single one is after Gun-mettle alright, two? Nah.
I don't understand how some players can just be...blanking. For example, I saw a Medic trying to heal with a Syringe Gun. ( Obviously new and I don't blame him, training is utter shit ). Anyway, I typed to him and told him he needed to use his secondary / Medi-Gun, even going Medic to show him how. He just stared at me as if I had told a really bad joke before running off and continuing to spam syringes at his teammates as they all burnt before him.
Other people picked up on it when the chat was just full of "USE THE MEDI GUN, LOOK HOW THIS GUY IS DOING IT" and started using their mic. He continued to just...stare at people who walked past him. We presumed he didn't speak English but you'd still notice your username being spammed in chat as well as everyone SCREAMING it.
The matchmaking for Valve servers.
I live in the US, and I keep getting connected to Stockholm and Luxenberg servers even though I live nowhere near them.
I want to do is play a game of payload, not spend 30 minutes having to constantly refresh servers in hope that I get one close to me and not some server that's on Pluto.

you know there is a server browser that is 500% better than the quickplay matchmaking system right? You can put in all kinds of cool settings like latency, custom maps, nocrits, etc,
The box art of the newer Pokemon games have this on the back:

I think it should say this on TF2's store page too

No, it actually still works. A server I go on has it enabled and I can still do it.
