A body exploded out of nowhere in front of me the other day. I jumped a little and said "what the fuck" out loud.

I wouldn't be mad at the hat if they just made less restricted items not holiday restricted. Like the Faux Manchu, I'm still salty over that (and the hellhunter's headpiece) being holiday restricted because they're both amazing, especially together.

this man is amazing for making this. pretty much exactly what's wrong with it. why not make the heavy invincible while he eats his sandwich at this point.
Not a single person in that clip even attempted to shoot at the Phlog Pyro. At least not until he had full Mmmph again. Either open the door and shoot him, or don't open the door and wait out the crits.
It's still a completely stupid weapon, but I don't think that video shows anything more than any other Phlogistinator video about steamrolling potatoes.

I think he's talking about the Spy that just stands there obliviously, taking flame crits to the face with the Spycicle without dying.
But yeah, I hate people complaining about the phlog. It's only overpowered if the enemy team is too dumb to shoot a Pyro with no airblast, and too dumb to run when the crits are coming.
Phlog is stupid but deep inside it feels rewarding if you manage to manage to put a sneak kill like the Backburner.
The thing is: he went balls out, yeah, but flame crits kill fast enough to make doing that actually viable. If he'd noticed anyone in there was a bit more competent, he probably wouldn't have dived to kill everyone. But there's just no stopping it. It's a crutch.
there is plenty of stopping it. sticky the door, rev up a minigun in the back, airblast, don't let a pyro get to your spawn

You can make everything look OP if you have clips playing against really stupid people.
Medics who don't know how to heal
"TF2 is dead"
the thing is: everyone's always like "but airblast is so important, it's balanced, only idiots die to it". but idiots don't know how to use airblast. it basically occasionally puts bad players on the level of performance near a "good" normal pyro. like, seriously, when you bring up complaints against the phlog it's always the same thing. "you're an idiot if you die to it". but how the actual fuck is my intelligence going to matter when a crits flamethrower comes around the corner and kills me sooner than my ping in milliseconds?
it's a crutch. yeah that's a silly video that actually doesn't touch upon any real issue except to show how powerful flamethrower crits are, but seriously. it's driving me mad. the hivemind keeps repeating the same nonsense.
Hmmm..

the best part when fighting a phlog is you know you're not going to get pushed into a wall or have your shit sent back to pratically one-shot you.
if you get ambushed (yes, encountering an opponent at extremely close range when you don't expect it is called an ambush), yeah i suppose it's frustrating. but it's the sort of death you just gotta move on and deal with it.
Let's say you're shooting one, maybe two guys at the same time and there's a spy backstabing you. That's another sort of death you couldn't have avoided even if you were the top player on the face of the earth simply because you can't focus two things on opposite sides at once. It's virtually impossible.
running around a corner into a crit phlog sucks, but they lose a gigantic ability for it and it must be made up for it. You might even get a random crit anyway. By the way backpedalling isn't always the best option. You'd be surprised how many pyros actually lose track of their target when you maneuver around them on the paths they come from. It's also not a bad idea to handle good phloggers exactly like a spy, which means taking large turns around corners.
I can make up with a quick guide if it helps
scout - run
soldier - juggle him or RJ away
pyro - airblast once then run your butt off. you should survive it
demoman - juggle or explosive/charge away
heavy - kill it. this is an extreme test of your aiming capability and you must not fail it
engineer - you need a sentry. if you don't have your sentry's cover, you have to accept the death.
medic - as lame as it is, pray your pocket saves you. Other than that, backpedal + syringue and you better know the map layout to maneuver around
sniper - lol, you're supposed to get beaten up outside of long range
spy - the new deadringer actually has more chances than before vs a crit phlog, since the first couple seconds make you immune to afterburn and the added running speed will give you enough distance. If you got a cloak, you have to cloak and run to the most odd and unexpected direction you can.
by the way i've never seen new / unexperienced phloggers stirring up this much shit. They usually die before even getting a first charge. The real good phloggers are pyros that would beat up your butt with degreaser/shotgun anyway.
As sniper, medic and engi you can try slipping past them as you mentioned. As a Sniper, you have the best chance to kill the guy with jarate and bushwacka, if you do manage to pull a kind of trickstab on them, heck, stairstab if you have to. You want to hit their back obviously, charging them head-on with your melee out isn't the best idea.
Phlog has the large disadvantage of not being too useful without the crits. As a phlog pyro, you really only want to engage if you're sure to bag the kill. With i.e. degreaser, you can airblast and walk out of virtually any engagement.
To kill a phlog pyro, all you have to do is survive the ambush. It's not too different from countering spies in that regard. Airblasting pyros is a different matter altogether as they have partial control of your actions. They can dictate your movement and they can use your gun against you. With those, it's the exact opposite situation - mostly you just want to get the hell out of there, since the longer you play their game, the more likely they are to pull off a fatal crit attack.
I'd much rather play against a phlog pyro rather than an equally skilled degreaser one.
Call me old fashioned, or just downright weird, but I dislike how you can market some cosmetics while others can't be marketed. Why can't we just market whatever hat we want?
Since I got curious, I tried this Phlogistinator of yours
It's garbage (I usually use the Backburner, by the way)
still annoys me that there's no eyelander-range sword available without some shitty character downside
closest is skullcutter but I can't stand the speed thing

Its only while its active now, and the claidheamh mors health penalty means nothing when you use a shield with it.
It's not for a shield. It's to pair with stickies and the parachute. I have to keep in mind I stickyjump alot.
eyelander -> 150 hp -> no
claid -> 160 hp -> no
persian -> turn useless once ammo is gone -> no
skullcutter -> best option for what I'm looking for but I don't like being stuck at heavy speed, even if its just active
in short i'm boned. ah well.

The 15 less HP you get from the Claid is probably the best you're gonna get. Assuming you can get consistent kills with the Eyelander that wouldn't be too bad.
Oh hey, the El Duderino would look really nice on my current loadout, lemme just look up on the market and-

whyy did the one cosmetic I want from the crate have to be high rarity.

Even if it wasn't all that rare people would still be sharking the fuck out of it just because it's a Big Lebowski reference.

I dunno if sharking is the word you're looking for, but yes, until it dropped for enough idiots that the tradelords couldn't manage the supply, it would be very high in price anyway.
Highballing is probably the word.
Highballing is probably the word.
Technically a White Russian is traditionally served in a lowball glass.
concheror still only needing 400 damage to charge despite being the best banner
and the only reason is "valve doesn't remember / know"
The fact that there's still no festive melee reskin for Soldier.
I'll never be a complete Santa Soldier at this rate.

Do you use the Sticky Launcher or the Sticky Jumper? Jumper has like 72 ammo, so there's no need to get yourself more ammo if it allows 2 bombs at a time.
just got out of a server with 3 hackers, Just evading kicks and then coming back with bunk accounts I went to find one of their accounts and just look at this shit, the kid is gloating about hacking, like jesus christ.
