The Gunslinger Engineer starting ranting on how bad I was because of my Scorch Shot being a huge crutch.
Thats because the axtinguisher was never the real problem, it was the degreaser.
This.
Degreaser has needed a nerf for a LONG time now.
That + Reserve Shooter/Flare Gun and any fight becomes hell on earth.
The problem with the Degreaser is that there's no good way to nerf it-the inherent mechanic (switch speed) is so broken by itself that nothing else would fix it except a complete removal of the mechanic altogether.

I remember people stating votekicks on pyros during 2fort because they would scorch shot the snipers to the point of making sniping having a lower life expectancy than a vietnam door gunner.

Degreaser is my favourite weapon and I can agree. Going to default after using the Degreaser for so long hurts so much, I can't just get used to it again.
But its a horribly broken crutch that needs to be changed.
Airblasting has been, is and always will be (until Valve gets their thumbs out of their ass and fixes it) the problem
The Degreaser just compounds the already existing problem

How would it be fixed though? Making it so the airblast does knockback like a point-blank force-a-nature shot that you can airstrafe with, that doesn't lock you in a certain direction?
Personally, pyro in general needs to be an area lock down class, not a class that focuses one person for massive bonus magic mini-crits. The worst part about this is that playing him like the latter is one of the more rewarding ways to play.
The airblast works in that it gives Pyro a niche as a support Class.
The problem however is that it also gives him close range superiority only matched by the Scout as he can effectively control your movement, which isn't fun to fight against.
My recommendation would be to keep the airblast pushing enemies back function, but get rid of the inability to actually move when blasted back. As annoying as it can be to get blasted back, Pyro's niche role is perfected by his ability to nullify ubers if he's good enough.
I'm playing as medic with Kritz.
I'm fully charged.
Suddenly all my team is composed of 4 demo-knights, 3 spies and 1 afk heavy.
In my opinion they should keep airblast for Pyro just so he can have a way to deal with projectile weapons. And have it not being able to push players away. I always liked Pyro more as a ambush/close-combat class than have him be dependant on some weapon gimmick.
I mean pyro already does large damage by just scorching someone with he's Default Flamethrower. He doesn't need that combo shit to be effective.

it bugs me it's called airblast but half the time it's more like airsuck because i'm running away and getting slammed with air from behind somehow halts my momentum and allows him to catch up

I have to disagree that airblast is what breaks the Degreaser, but I do agree airblast needs retooling.

But Pyro's guaranteed gimmick crits still arent even as good of dps as just Soldier's Rockets, Demo's pills. Or even heavy.
I really don't understand why people play pyro now. I only really see him as an anti-spy.
I love fighting other pyros who try to do airblast combos on you. I just hold mouse 1 while they're airblasting me up into a corner then they rage when they die. It's like they forget the flamethrower is one of the most powerful weapons in the game next to the minigun.
Okay, so after some recent updates I started getting an odd bug where all model geometry suddenly turns invisible (including players). Seems to happen at random, sometimes after a minute, sometimes not at all. "record" and "stop" in console don't help, neither did verifying the cache. Anyone else having this?

it does less DPS than the medics syringe gun, what are you talking about?

no it doesn't?

I've been experiencing the same thing a few times. After I died with this bug, my game crashed without a warning. But then it suddenly fixed itself right after the map has changed and it never happened again.
Medics that Pocket Degreaser+ Reserver shittter pyros
As if you can't make them even more harder to kill
They say there's a special place in hell reserved for Medics pocketing the vaccinator on Targe Demoknights.

Did I mention dps? Im talking about how the flamethrower is by far the most effective close range weapon in the game.

Minigun.
Minigun.
Brass Beast for bonus raw DPS.
Brass Beast for bonus raw DPS.
Brass Beast for bonus immobility.
Heavy for bonus uselessness while alone.
The minigun has too fast of a spinup. I can't flank a Heavy as a Scout because even if I take 3 seconds pop out of cover to shoot him and get back in cover, he can already be spun up and firing for at least 25 damage even if my latency is exquisite.

Let's just get rid of the minigun entirely and give the heavy a pool noodle to nerf him even more
