The minigun has too fast of a spinup. I can't flank a Heavy as a Scout because even if I take 3 seconds pop out of cover to shoot him and get back in cover, he can already be spun up and firing for at least 25 damage even if my latency is exquisite.
You should probably not walk up right in front of him then.
Let's just get rid of the minigun entirely and give the heavy a pool noodle to nerf him even more
Would still be a better weapon than the Eviction notice.
Srsly tho Heavy as of now is a class with a Minigun that acts too much like an assault rifle and a health pool that feels not... well.. heavy.. enough. Compare to soldier, who, at the cost of taking only one less rocket, has potentially the most mobility on the board, and has a weapon that has use at both short and long range uses. Same for Demo. Heavy has no mobility and only 100 health more, which really isn't much unless you have several medics up your ass when in the heat of battle. A slower spinup can be considered, but only with a buff to Heavy's health and maybe a bit less falloff.

youll be okay, it still takes a full second of heavy shooting for his full damage to take effect anyway

Try to jump over him and jump around like crazy. He can't hit you that way, unless he has godly aiming skills.
I'm not running up in front of a Heavy, I'm running AROUND him. From one doorway to the other. While his back is turned. And he isn't currently revving his minigun.

A scout shouldnt really fight a heavy anyway, in most circumstances.
I got random critted by a Gunslinger engi. Not even the glitch where you store the crits or something, he was literally missing me and swinging in the air, and suddenly, crit.
I mean, is punching the air actually granting crits or what? :suicide:
Our first response shouldn't be "how can we nerf this" when something is hard to do. It should be "what is a useful tactic". Saying Heavy is too strong against Scouts and his minigun needs to get nerfed is a bad excuse. Heavy is made to be slow and 2stronk and Scout is supposed to be fast and fragile. You shouldn't be flanking a Heavy alone anyways, this is "Team Fortress 2", not "Heavy is too hard to take down as a Scout alone so lets nerf him Fortress 2".
I know that was a horrible post but seriously we can't nerf everything. Nerf the things that are broken (mini-sentry, Degreaser, Phlog), the Heavy's minigun is fine the way it is.

Phlog and degreaser are hardly broken.
Phlog is arguably the worst flame thrower since airblast is a huge thing to give up. Backburner is a good ambush tool, and doesn't make you defenseless against any projectile class, and can still deal with ubers.
Whenever I see people who want the phlog nerfed, I just don't get why.
Degreaser is just straight up better than the other flamethrowers, since the downside hardly matters, but nerfing the degreaser wouldn't help much since as others have said Airblast is the main issue, and pyro in whole needs some changes, since as a class he's fairly mediocre.

Then either you're bad at playing Scout or the Heavy is incredibly good.
A scout shouldnt really fight a heavy anyway, in most circumstances.
Lolwhat
A Scout is probably the only class that can take the Heavy in a close/mid-range 1-on-1 fight and win 50% of the time, 100% if he's any better than the heavy.
Sometimes you just have to sit back and, instead of johnsing up the forums, think about "maybe it was my lack or his higher threshold of skill that made me lose in x situation?"

No shit, scout is the only close range class with good mobility.

No shit, but what I was talking about had no relation to what you were saying, and I wasn't talking to you anyways so don't be rude

Well, it was a server with like 10 people, and 5 of those 10 people weren't really doing anything serious. And I'm venting after a situation that struck dangerous levels of frustration into me, which is why I like this thread. I don't want people to take my heated ramblings as truth, so just ignore what I say because what I say isn't typically right.
Specialized Killstreak Fabricators with recipes like this:

How is anybody supposed to finish a tour with even close to that many of the same part
because you're supposed to play lots of tours anyway if you actually plan to build one

Normally, you can come decently close to finishing one with only 1 tour, so you'd only really need around 2 tours, but with a recipe like this, you probably wouldn't be able to finish it in 2 tours. Especially if you get unlucky and mainly only get the wrong parts.

All recipes are like this.
It's allegedly to encourage trading. As people who play MvM will have a surplus of bottom-tier robot parts that they would allegedly want to swap with one another at a rate of 1:1 because they're equally useful/useless to them depending on what recipes they're trying to complete.
Yeah, TF2 trading has never worked out that cleanly.

Phlog is hardly the worst flamethrower. It gives you a lot of power if you use it right and airblast isn't everything that pyro has. You have to think about how you do things with it though, you can't mindlessely walk up to people and expect to win. It's all about engaging and disengaging smartly and getting your damage and potential kills, then flanking when you have your crits and see an opprotunity.
The phlog has more depth to it than people give it credit, it's more based on decision making than raw reflexes.
When they say worst, they mean "least effective" not "least interesting playstyle".

I bet you if the phlog were unbanned from UGC we'd see pyros use it, if occasionally.

If you want to see a meta-shift in Highlander, that is THE weapon to do it.
You know what's worse?

I never got the point of Battle worn and reinforced parts. You'd think the latter is better, and you get like 2 reinforced parts compared to like 4 battle worn, but with dumbshit ratios you need 5 times the amount of battle work, so the reinforced items like pumps and stabilizers take up a ton of space in my backpack after a while and I cant even craft them into something usuable.
When they say worst, they mean "least effective" not "least interesting playstyle".
the phlog is all about momentum and survavility. you can pop a critboost at the right time and obliterate an entire team in seconds or get torn to pieces by soldiers and demos alike. the critboost taunt also is a huge way to tank and prevent a cap since the damage resistance can and will soak a lot of damage until you strike back and kill your enemies. its banned from comp matches mostly because it puts pyros out of their primary role as the jack of all trades.
also, there's that hidden stat that everyone forgets: unlike the mediguns or any other charge-based weapons, it has no visual indicator when you're fully charged and ready to deploy.
its boring to phlog newbies? yes. they never see it coming. anyone else competent enough can kill you easily, even critboosted thanks to the misleading particle effect it has.

But the Phlog isnt banned in UGC highlander?
I was using it last season i will be greatly upset if i have to play Pyro on steel and cant use it :(
I don't know if i'm the only one who feels like this. but when i play scout (and i play scout a lot) I normally jump a lot, But if there's one thing i fear... is the flare guns (any kind) Everytime i'm running away from a pyro to not get burnt. the pyro aims and shots me, completely cutting off any speed or momentum i had. and then you know what happens. Look. I'm okay with the flare guns. but i think i died from pyro's with them a shit ton. And i got no problem with them with other classes.
Playing TF2 this time of the day is fucking hopeless
