Sometimes when I see players doing stupid shit I get mad, but then I sit back and think what the fuck are they doing behind the keyboard. And usually I picture some Hispanic kid who just found out about this game last Thursday, spent the past week downloading it onto his mom's old 2002 VAIO laptop running Windows XP, and finally connected to a server after hours of waiting.
I honestly have to wonder if some of the people in pubs have ever played a video game before, or at least an FPS. Watching a sniper stand in the middle of a bunch of enemies while shouting for medic and slowly aiming his smg is just painful to watch sometimes.
Switching away from a class you have fun using like Pyro or Scout to go Hunstman Sniper or Soldier, or avoiding a certain part of the map entirely, just because one guy on the other team decided to use the gunslinger or is really good at Sniper, is not fun. I play TF2 primarily to have fun. If you're against fun, get the fuck off pubs and play UGC or whatever.
They're not against fun, they just have fun in a different way. Like, I dislike friendlies and the way some of them whine like someone pushed a cactus up their ass a lot, but when I'm playing on a server without a rule against it all I can do is suck it up and play. I wouldn't want to remove them in any way, as their way of having fun is just as valid as mine on a server without playstyle-limiting rules. Not meant to bash/flame you or anything, but this entire "anti-fun!" thing is something I see on forums and in game a lot and it bugs me almost as much as the fact there's people in the year 2015 who still use the word tryhard unironically :pwn:
Sometimes when I see players doing stupid shit I get mad, but then I sit back and think what the fuck are they doing behind the keyboard. Building in random-ass positions or just wrenching a map geometry bench or something while looking grumpy under their hardhat.
oh look a targe user
I rarely ever play demoknight, I don't even own the Targe. I'll just be rocket jumping as soldier, then I just get slowed down mid-jump by 2 damage pellets from across the map.
There's a special place in the 9th layer of hell for Degreaser + Reserve Shooter Pyros and Dr. Enforcicle Spies; both of which taunt after killing you and talk shit when you kill them
Fixed that for you.

Also at that time I played with a toaster so I got a max of 30 fps on simple maps. Therefore I mainly played cp_orange until I could afford a better pc. I can just imagine that tons of kiddos start playing the game just like I did, resulting in the things we see in pubs.

You have momentum in air when rocket jumping, and every weapon affects that.

First real FPS I ever owned too. [sp]i at least read the wiki and knew how to play though[/sp]
and had a toaster computer which lead to me playing SO MUCH GODDAMN 100% CRITS ORANGE for a year
Wouldn't that decrease rather than increase performance?
I'm aware that this is probably a pretty trivial matter, but there's been something that has been bothersome ever since I recently started playing Demo more often. Every now and then when playing on a server or browsing through a forum like this one, people will talk about how OP sticky-spamming is, and how the Stickybomb Launcher requires no effort to use, and a number of people lack arguments to back up these claims, but I just have been wondering where the border is between stickyspamming and just actually using the weapon. I don't want to ruin someone else's game just because I use a weapon that was in the game from day one, and altered a fair bit since then, so that's been a bit of a bother as of recent. Again, pretty trivial, but I felt like getting that out there.
fun fact: I myself feel more confident aiming shots with the GL than the Sticky bomb launcher.
Wouldn't that decrease rather than increase performance?
It was less about the performance for me, more about it being somewhere where I wouldn't feel bad about sucking.
These kind of people... anger issues much? Yes, I am badfish, fukfish, that soldier, cancer pyro etc I put this together for fun and reflection May be hard to read but I play tf2 in a small res and the letters were too small with the original size. People like these ruin everything though.
Lately I've been tempted to hide chat every time I play since I'm finding the community more and more obnoxious. Like 10 minutes into a game and someone decides to start a pissing contest by saying their festive buff has a better name tag than mine. Christ.
I guess I just go on great servers. Nobody ever talks shit to me, even during my 27-killstreak on Slapmebro's Hightower server. Though I do see a rather larger amount of shit (towards me and other players) on Skial (seriously why are those servers still in my favorites).
Just use the STFU bind.
//stfu script bind key stfu alias stfu stfu1 alias stfu1 "hud_saytext_time 0; voice_modenable 0; echo STFU enabled; alias stfu stfu2" alias stfu2 "hud_saytext_time 12; voice_modenable 1; echo STFU disabled; alias stfu stfu1"
You can toggle it on and off without having to reconnect to the server.
I really want to unbox some EoTL crates to unbox and get a wicked effect, but I also don't want to waste my money on nothing... [sp]Anyone got any advice maybe?![/sp]
Sell a couple of high value stranges you don't use anymore on the market
I really want to unbox some EoTL crates to unbox and get a wicked effect, but I also don't want to waste my money on nothing... [sp]Anyone got any advice maybe?![/sp]
Statistically you're going to lose money by unboxing. Of course, you can unbox a god hat in 3 keys, but you are much more likely to spend 250$ on keys, get jack shit, and now you don't have money or an unusual. Save money then spend it on the exact hat you want, people like pure keys and shit.
There's a special place in the 9th layer of hell for Natascha Heavies.

oh look a targe user
It slows Baby Face scouts to way slow, down to their already debuffed speed and then some, making them effectively slower than you, great counter

Chances are depending on how much money you want to spend and whether or not you want a specific unusual, you can get an ok unusual for, at the most, $70. Alternatively put money on your paypal and then buy games off TF2outpost. They go for really cheap, really good games like Borderlands 2 GOTY go for around 3-4 keys, which isn't even $10.
So you're that guy that offers nothing useful to the conversation. The guy who'll go into a tech support thread and claim "I don't have an issue" and act that the issue no longer exists. The guy who'll ignore actual statistics being presented to him and stick to his guns because "it's my opinion." If you're going to jump into a debate, expect to actually debate instead of presenting your opinion and not being prepared to back it up with things beyond "I don't have problems with it. Why can't you all be as perfect as me?" If you can actually back up your claims, great. You did a horrible job at making that evident, but great. If not, you're incredibly short-sighted. Opinions can be wrong and refusing to update one's views when presented a compelling argument is stubborn.
Excuse me? No, these things CANNOT be proven by facts, its a mmatter of opinion. You hate the Gunslinger? Good for you. I don't, so don't attack me for it. I find Level 3 Sentries more annoying because they're more defensive and are really annoying to deal with as classes like Scout, unless I sit in a doorway and snipe it with a pistol, in my opinion. You may be able to run into a room with 6 sentries and destroy them and be like "lel easy". Wonderful for you. People love to claim their opinions are fact. A level of annoyance is an opinion, not a statistic. No, it cannot be wrong. I understand you may hate these weapons because ____, but I get over those issues, whilst hating weapons you may not find very annoying. Jesus. E.G "Mini-Sentry range". Unless I'm in a tiny tight room, I can usually get out if a mini-sentry is shooting at me. If there's a Level 3, its usually reduced the majority of my health and then I get killed by a pistol Scout. Sorry that you think your opinion MUST be right. "Smaller hitbox proven, IT HAS TO be annoying!!!!!1!1!!'. You might find it annoying, which I don't dislike you for, but I don't. Its like if someone started micspamming and you found it irritating but I didn't. You try to make 'its annoying' a fact by throwing statistics and random numbers at me. No. Maybe you thought I think these weapons don't annoy anyone. Yes, the Gunslinger(etc.) does annoy lots of people, but I'm not one of those people. Don't attack me for thinking differently to you. Its not a debate if you try to force someone to believe what you believe. A debate is meant to share views on a subject, not "HATE THIS, HATE THAT, BECAUSE NUMBERS!!!!"
I taunted someone after getting what I thought was an impressive airshot with the LnL and it just devolves from there into the other guy taunting after every kill and assist and posting "ez" in chat whenever he gets a crit. Some people pubs way to seriously. Actually more than that, the general lack of sportsmanship that I keep increasingly encountering annoys me greatly.
TBH I like rivalries, no matter how petty because at least there's something else to fight for other than a cart no one bothers pushing.
I don't really consider it a rivalry when they hide behind a wall of heavies and sentries.
I hate dominations because it always sends people in a tunnel vision rage where they charge through the entire team just to get me I definitely don't need that shit if I'm just an engineer or medic
I hate dominations because it always sends people in a tunnel vision rage where they charge through the entire team just to get me I definitely don't need that shit if I'm just an engineer or medic
theres a party behind you and all enemy spies are invited
Ctf turbine(?) ( the map with two routes bellow and the vent above) gotta love the central area with poor cover from snipers, the door to the right that 90% lead right into an enemys face and the intel which is coverd by 3 engies who just walk out of spawn to get back
The suicide bomber loadout is stupidly effective. It feels so cheap. (base jumper, sticky jumper, caber)
Lately I've been tempted to hide chat every time I play since I'm finding the community more and more obnoxious. Like 10 minutes into a game and someone decides to start a pissing contest by saying their festive buff has a better name tag than mine. Christ.
Over time (just over a year to be precise) I've begun to notice these things more often:- When I play in EU servers - all's quiet on the home front. Good players, very little shittalking and generally enjoyable. Surprisingly, people actually play as a team. When I occasionally play US servers however - shitalking almost every match, gibus players not listening to teammates (4 spies for example). Team gameplay is almost non-existent with the high chance to have pub stompers stacking a team. In both these examples, it occasionally swaps but in comparison - is pretty rare (Ie. Shittalking is a rarer occurance on EU servers compared to US). This isn't even isolated to TF2. CS:GO's worse on US servers; Shit talking is rife. Hell, even a game completely unrelated to VALVe like Guild Wars 2 is worse on US servers (I've got an alt on the US servers for holding money which I meter into my main, which is on the EU servers, when I need it). Should note, when I play US servers, it's generally early morning so it could be down to kiddos playing before school or something. Honestly don't know if anyone will agree but try swapping regions once in a while to 'look over the fence'. So far, I've noticed a humungous stark contrast.
No one talks at all on the servers I go to, what servers do you use?
Stop That Tank, VALVe (almost all gamemodes) and quickplay Payload from both regions. Occasionally also play on Multiplay's servers (Duel Store 3 etc), SLAG gaming and randomiser from both regions.
I hate going up against Soldiers with the Black Box and Conch, more so when they have a Medic. It's like, I should just quit right then and there. The Black Box should do less damage while being healed by a Medic, and give +30HP on a kill, not +15HP on a hit.
