It was uploaded as a halloween item, so Valve added it as a halloween item. Sure, Valve probably could've look that over and said "Woah, this should be an actual item", but the creator had fair warning that this is what would happen. [sp]i got an apology from whoever made it i forget who for making such a mistake, so i am at peace[/sp]
The fault belies both parties, not just the creator. Valve gave all contributors an ultimatum: it's restricted or it's not in the game at all. That's a very blunt ultimatum and for items that are very much on-the-line between holiday gimmick and normal cosmetic, it seemed like they would've been perfect for a conservative Halloween. That's not what Valve wanted, they wanted Halloween to be completely over-the-top so that every full moon feels like an event, something to be anticipated and enjoyed. This simply doesn't happen and no one actively looks forward to full moons, it doesn't matter how many voice lines and special effects you slap onto these restricted items, they're restricted one way or the other. Why bother reorienting my loadout when I have literally hundreds of options available to be year-round without restriction? Similarly, Eternaweens are equally useless, especially considering that all it takes to make the Eternaween do absolutely nothing is to have the server admin toggle the holiday cvar. They tried yet again with the Aliens promotional items, by opting in using the item sets, you can enable a class-specific minigame between Pyros and Scouts. It's a bit underwhelming but it starts to push the full moon events into opt-in gameplay events and not just cosmetic ones. Things can be taken a step further with Eternaweens though. Just like this past Halloween, it'd be more enticing if Halloween-mode enabled spell drops when people are killed or complete objectives, making for a frantic game within the game, of course this could be disabled by the server operator if they don't want gameplay getting affected (such as on a more-serious server). While it wouldn't really change the state of the cosmetics, it'd definitely change how people appreciate (or more accurately, don't appreciate) Full Moon and Eternaween as a concept. 3 days a month to wear a gaudy costume in the middle of winter doesn't really strike a chord with most people, but being able to play the game on any map with spells flying all about could generate some fun and excitement.
I honestly wish that they would remove random crits from all Spy revolvers. It isn't really fair for a class designed around getting instantaneous crits, and insta-kills nonetheless, to have a fourth way of getting free crits.

It punishes you severely for being in the wrong place at the wrong time, while normally that's fine, rushing a heavy head on and dying is your own fault, its bullshit if you see the heavy from far away, start to run to cover only to die within seconds because he was given random crits.

Ya know even thought I'm playing Scout that doesn't mean you can just leave huge piles of cash standing right next to you.

Some people are still declining trade offers despite I offered them the right amount, but no, they still decline it like a bunch of clueless fucks they are. For fuck's sake, you're supposed to accept them and finish it.
remember several weeks back when ya'll said that the price on the strange AWPer Hand would drop? Well it did down to 40 bucks :suicide:
This is just me sucking, I know but.. Soldiers. I cannot for the life of me figure out how to fight any decent Soldier who can aim + rocket jump. Especially with the Black Box.
This is just me sucking, I know but.. Soldiers. I cannot for the life of me figure out how to fight any decent Soldier who can aim + rocket jump. Especially with the Black Box.
As what class?
As what class?
Oddly enough, Pyro. I tend to get in this awkward place where they're too far for the flamethrower, but close enough that I have trouble timing reflects. And trying to switch to my secondary usually results in eating a rocket as I'm switching. I'm not saying I think Soldiers are OP or anything, I get it's just on me to get better at dodging rockets and aiming/timing air blasts better. It's just a general frustration I have.
It feels like whenever I play engie the enemy team is competent and coordinates sapping and then rushing demos into destroy my shit. But if I'm on a team facing an engie the idea of coordination is some foreign concept.

Wow, I didn't know this board was anti-Spies so much

As a Spy, it's weirdly amusing to have the Engies try to melee you in the middle of their nest, not not hitting you at all.
And OFC when I'm the engineer and a spy is sapping the wrench hit reg is 100% garbage and misses every swing I'm directly hitting but the rare time I go spy and try to sap I get crit killed before even coming close to the sentry
I thought I was the only one to notice this. The latter happens more often to me than anyone I've ever seen play as a spy. 9 times out of 10, the wrench will be a 1 hit crit but when I'm the engineer? I hear the hitting sound but no damage and my shit is destroyed as a spy from across the map somehow backstabs me.
It feels like whenever I play engie the enemy team is competent and coordinates sapping and then rushing demos into destroy my shit. But if I'm on a team facing an engie the idea of coordination is some foreign concept.
Engineer is a social class and requires the help of his teammates to be effective. Gunslinger gives engie his independence, which is why many people use it. I like to place sentries in oddball positions and annoy the enemies with it. However, most enemy demos are good at sticky spamming and can take out my sentry nest before I can even react. Which is why I like short circuit. It's basically a crutch for if your team isn't helping you, as you can zap projectiles and make your sentry last a little longer.
I feel like engie and medic in most public games just ends terribly for me and no one else (obviously hyperbole but). I had a time last time I played where team needed a medic, I pocketed a soldier and kritzed him since we were in sight of the cart. He then ran past a soldier he was previously engaging, leaving said soldier between my heal target and me. Needless to say he just jumped in on me and I was dead before I could even call for help. And engineer is just spy facestab city. If I play spy, I get critted by the gunslinger on first punch. Life is tough.
Wow, I didn't know this board was anti-Spies so much
I have a deep rooted hate for spies. Not just because I hate being deceived Is more because most people that play as him think they are hot shit and think they have the right to trashtalk all the time. And they of course always use the Dead-ringer and have names like " Pro Spy" or " Master assassin " or some shit like that and the funny part is that these kinds of people would get destroyed in real competitive TF2. Because they are too busy in their own little world.
And they of course always use the Dead-ringer
At this point I had a seizure and had to stop reading

If he's aiming at your feet, bridge the gap and force him to risk eating reflects. The only time you should take out your secondary is when you know for certain he won't shoot another rocket at you (IE he's rocket jumping away). If his friends show up, just backpedal. Concerning the topic, this. [t]http://i.imgur.com/oYndc65.png[/t] I don't think the item maker realizes how collars work.
Spy cosmetics in general annoy me a bit, he has some nice shirts but I find that hats just look really weird on him with his mask.
Spy cosmetics in general annoy me a bit, he has some nice shirts but I find that hats just look really weird on him with his mask.
That made me feel awkward too occasionally, but nowadays I'm more annoyed with how little there are Spy hats that don't clip awkwardly as fuck with the Noh Mercy. That belgian hat? The only unusual Spy hat I could find that isn't all-class that doesn't have super bad clipping.

Someone should take the "LMAOBAN" plugin and edit it to ban for lenny faces. Would be one server plugin I'd use on every server.
