I thought the original tide turner was really dumb but I find the nerf just as dumb. which side does that put me on
On the side Turner.
Its been months since they fixed the Turner. Get over it already.
Tide turner is still way too good. Even if it was just the "hey here's your charge back for doing stuff" or just "yeah go wherever, that's cool", it'd be the best shield. As it is there's basically no reason to use the other shields unless you're weird and don't like being on fire or something
To this day i wonder why the Turner has resistances. The thing's focus is Mobility and as such both offense and defense rely on how you take advantage of said Mobility. You know, just like the rocket jumper.
Is it possible to mod the localisation files in TF2? For some reason modding all the weapon descriptions to stuff like "yeah go wherever that's cool" or "shoot people not in the face and stuff happens" for the back scatter is making me laugh.
(we were down by $100 halfway into the round) "Scout, could you collect some money, please?" "it's not my job. im less of a scout more of a distraction :D" "...but that's your job!" "in your opinion" Whyyyyyyyyyyyyy [editline]25th April 2015[/editline] He then went into a long spiel about why TF2 is different from COD and why all valve games are different in fact is because you can play them how you want.

You get the quintessential example of idiocy when you play during those days. It took my friends and I 3 fucking hours to do Bavarian. I had to pull in Anderan and a few others just to plow through it, and even then, we had to kick at least 15 people just to finish it.
It was a stream of 1 and 0 tours. 2nd scout who upgrades soda popper right off? Sure why not. Maxed knockback rage asap? You betcha.
It was a stream of 1 and 0 tours. 2nd scout who upgrades soda popper right off? Sure why not. Maxed knockback rage asap? You betcha.
Don't forget the degreaser pyro who only upgraded burn damage, ammo capacity, and jump height.
Okay, I spend 75% of my time as an engineer trying to keep my teleporters up and running. The other team has 3 spies. Not one competent member of my team is spychecking. I've been working so hard to get the teleporter up, constantly getting revolver gang banged, they sap one of my unbuilt teleporters and both get sappers for some fucking reason, of course. Finally get both sides running, up to level 3, it's well hidden behind the enemy's front line, the entrance is right outside our spawn, I finally relax slightly and wait for the feel-goods to wash over me. End of round comes, I've been vigilantly guarding my teleporter. Two uses. TWO. USES. Fuck this game, fuck this community, fuck that class, fuck spies, fuck teleporters, fuck everything. From now on I build dispensers for myself, I build sentries for myself, and I don't touch teleporters ever.

Nobody ever takes them when they're finally setup, even when it gives your team an edge for the entire game. Even when placed in the most dedicated hiding spots, the enemy team will still somehow always find them due to persistence or just goddamn dumb luck. Oh, and they're near useless in CTF, Arena, some King of The Hill maps, and most of the time in CP when the enemy captures their fair share of the map. The only gamemodes that they're always useful in is Payload and A&D but even then, the 2nd reason above is always in effect so it doesn't even matter. just add the fucking bounce and speed pads already guys
They're excellent in CTF, what are you talking about
They're excellent in CTF, what are you talking about
The only maps I can think of that they're great in are Doublecross and Well. Otherwise, no dice for anything else due to 8 years of predictability plus on-hand knowledge, and poor map design.
It was a stream of 1 and 0 tours.
Amount of tours was never a valid argument. Just because someone spent more/less money it doesn't make them better/worse in MvM.
The only maps I can think of that they're great in are Doublecross and Well.
Amount of tours was never a valid argument. Just because someone spent more/less money it doesn't make them better/worse in MvM.
While true, it does still serve as a useful metric when they clearly don't know what they're doing. People can have low tour counts because they spent most time in Boot Camp, or perhaps they played a fair amount of MvM in a different tour. But from my experience playing with hundreds of randoms, I can safely say that a large majority of inexperienced and stubborn players tend to have low tour counts. Like, if someone's inexperienced I'll still give them a wave to prove themselves as adequate. Then see how the wave pans out and offer advice for their class. I don't expect perfection, I just expect some sense of wariness and effort. But if they stubbornly refuse to listen to criticism then I don't want to put forth time and effort to carry them. Conversely, high tour counts can either be genuinely experienced or just some schmuck that learned to grind through the motions on a single class with a single group of people without once mixing anything up ever. Then of course there are the control freaks who spaz out if anyone deviates from their precious meta or they fail a wave once; it's like they behave that failure is permanent and that they had never failed anything before. In general, inexperienced players can be a burden and in general, experienced players can be expected to know what to do.
are you aware that there's no other ctf maps than turbine, doublecross and well?
[t]http://boards.38chan.net/b/src/1376971710864.jpg[/t] A wild sawmill says: "Hello!" Edit: 2fort, Foundry, Thundermountain (if you count the last 2)
He means good maps 8)
He means good maps 8)
Then why mention turbine?
Then why mention turbine?
seriously, Turbine is worse than 2 fort.
seriously, Turbine is worse than 2 fort.
Turbine is third worst followed by 2Fort and Dustbowl.
So am I the only one who finds doublecross as the good 2Fort?
I don't get the turbine hate. is it the vents? yeah the vents are kind of dumb. spawn? you got a ressuply cabinet and it's all transparent glass with two exits mid is incredibly fun to capture and to defend. lots of room for airshot plays. snipers aren't a problem nearly as much as in 2fort
I don't like turbine because it's flat as a pancake. [editline]25th April 2015[/editline] Also no ammo.
I don't get the turbine hate. is it the vents? yeah the vents are kind of dumb. spawn? you got a ressuply cabinet and it's all transparent glass with two exits mid is incredibly fun to capture and to defend. lots of room for airshot plays. snipers aren't a problem nearly as much as in 2fort
feels too cramped to me. at least most other ctf maps have an outside with multiple routes, but in turbine if you stand on one staircase at mid you can see pretty much everyone
So am I the only one who finds doublecross as the good 2Fort?
Its the better 2fort on the merit that if you got lit on fire there was a small medpack in the huts next to each base that you could go to or you could just go below the bridge and get the medium healthpack the fact it actually had healthpacks near the battlefield instead of forcing you to go down a route that often was atrocious for getting fired upon from above or making you go through long chokepoints just to douse your afterburn or gain back health Crossroads is just better overall because at least the upper bridge had cover, it had sniper perches but its not as easy to defend with sentrys Edit: Turbine is usually hated because according to snipers and scouts its too cramped, both those complaints usually come from lime and pink wearing basterds who want the map to be 2fort so screw them
Amount of tours was never a valid argument. Just because someone spent more/less money it doesn't make them better/worse in MvM.
Matihood, you've obviously never played with some of these morons. I'm talking morons who only upgrade ammo capacity and rage as heavy and put the rest in ammo canteens and jump height, and unironically try to tell you why it's the best loadout for heavy. They are that fucking stupid.
Whenever I can't seem to find a certain hat, they suddenly appear everywhere the moment I get one A Hermes in this case
It's not an interesting map. It's a huge box with 3 tiny routes. Even turbine_pro is incredibly boring, but it improves upon the flaws of the original turbine (like an additional route to intel and better vents).
Amount of tours was never a valid argument. Just because someone spent more/less money it doesn't make them better/worse in MvM.
It doesn't make them instantly bad, it just gets them put on the "being watched for stupidity" list more easily with someone with a higher amount of tours. Yes, sometimes people with low tours turn out to be decent or actually list to advice. 90% of the time however they just upgrade their scattergun right off and ignore any advice given to them while trying to play MvM like a pub. Other than tours there is literally no way to really get a first impression as to whether or not they know how to play before a round starts other than staring at their upgrades.
