Saxton Hale turned into a meme. So people decided that because Saxton Hale was a meme that they should add other player-bosses based on fan-made meme characters. So yeah, it's fucking stupid.
Unless you mean the stupid meme characters in general and not the game mode, in which case I blame people trying to emulate Rubberfruit's stuff. Took one look at them, said "I can do that too!" and then ran the concept into the ground. You know, standard meme stuff. Or you're talking about the fact there is a wikia about them, which is also fucking stupid.

How about the fact that switching classes while inside the spawn corridor on Hightower MAKES YOU SUICIDE
The spawn is the área where you spawn. That corridor is blocked solely so you can not be spawn camped.
Same as frontier's 1st blu spawn.
I leave servers the second i get a 20 second respawn. 2 seconds can decide a game alone, so sitting for what feels like a damn century is unbearably unfun.

What we don't know is why it can't be like most payload maps where the spawn also counts as the corridors.

It would be great if mappers could be more consistent with providing anti-spawn camping boundaries to prevent direct attacks when the doors are opened.
Dustbowl and 2fort provide the worst examples of this where the spawn is a box with one opaque door that the enemy can get up close.
Other maps with poorly designed spawns that are camp friendly are turbine, doublecross, nucleus, and harvest because they allow direct line of sight to spawning players.

Why is that one door inside the 2fort spawn near the courtyard one-way only? It would be really helpful if you could hide in there.

Mappers do, its just a large portion of the tf2 community insists on playing god awful disgusting maps like gold rush, dustbowl, 2fort, turbine, and harvest

I don't dislike Dustbowl I just think it's boring to play. The corridors and doorways are so cramped that all you need to do to get a kill is plant as many stickies as possible or just shoot a couple of rockets on them and BAM! 5 kills killstreak.

Especially if the timer decides to add a further 15-20 seconds onto your respawn timer if the enemy team captures the point/objective (the worst situation in payload - if half your team is dead, it's punishment enough having half a team trying to defend the objective, let alone the other half being in constant purgatory).

Sadly, it's a feature to prevent stalemates and is unlikely to be changed anytime soon.
