Is is just my graphics settings, or are the flamethrower's particles actually less bright and more transparent now? Also, this patch added to the Thermal Thruster's description that it deals 3x falling damage to anyone you land on.
It's worse if you got like 3-4 Pyros that don't even bother spychecking so you have to do it.
As Pyro, I always make it my priority to chase down any dead-ringer/spycicle spies until they're dead for real, because otherwise they'll be back in a few moments to cause more mischief. It's like the easiest TF2 job ever - and yet so many players still don't grasp it's importance.

I see so many Pyro mains that focus only on flashy kills but don't give a fuck about Spies. I prefer supporting on Pyro rather than straight up fighting. Homewrecker has saved many a Sentry nest.
I love deadringer spies because i can fill my phlog charge with just one of them.
Absolutely. I see so many Pyro mains that focus only on flashy kills but don't give a fuck about Spies. I prefer supporting on Pyro rather than straight up fighting. Homewrecker has saved many a Sentry nest.
Over the years I've come to believe that Homewrecker's ability to remove sappers was an unwarranted idea and skews the Spy vs. Engineer dynamic even more in favor of Engies, assuming capable players and the nest receiving backup from its teammates. I'm sure tons of people will disagree since Spies are unpopular and make 'bullshit kills' in a lot of players' eyes, but is it really OK that a melee unlock on a class that's already a big threat to Spies can essentially nullify a purposely designed anti-building tool, further limiting Spy's specialist role(s) and how much the class can really do against a defended nest that has a watchful Engie? The Spy navigates through the other team, past Pyro flames, past all the potential spam and Engie's other teammates looking for him, stabs the Engineer while he's not looking, saps the building(s), tries to get away without getting killed... only for a Pyro to pull out a Homewrecker and save the buildings almost in an instant... What I'm saying is, while it's true that one of Pyro's roles has always been sniffing out Spies and the HW could be viewed as part of that role, the weapon basically hinders or completely nullifies one of Spy's important roles simply by equipping a specific melee weapon and hangin out near a nest. They tried to carve out extra support niches for Pyro, a class that had serious viability issues before airblast and such was a thing, and they ended up stepping on Spy's anti-building toes even further. And I'm sure most will agree that Spy has never managed to be a hard-counter to protected and supported Sentry nests with vaguely aware Engies, anyway. He's a soft counter and s nuisance at best in such cases. A determined and dogged Homewrecker Pyro pretty much cockblocks any such attempts and leaves explosives classes with Medic support the only real option in taking out well-entrenched nests. Though a HW Pyro that relegates himself to hanging out near Engie nests and isn't using the potent Powerjack for better mobility in offensive roles is sacrificing a part of the class' potential role, I'll give him that. I just think that the HW isn't really needed and can feel so unfair when you carefully navigate your way (assuming you're not using the DR) through enemy ranks and sap stuff while catching the Engineer off-guard or killing him, only to see everything get de-sapped quickly.
Pyro is a functional class guys!

God bless sig.
It would be nice for fire to be in a state where nobody complains about it unless they're actually bad at the game Is fire seriously based on Bison particles now? If so, they should just use the MyM bison particles so they don't collide more than once :v: and have a set damage. Also. Dragon's Fury. Make it do like double damage off the bat, but make the hitbox size as small as the actual particle. And maybe reduce the initial reload speed.
He should honestly be hired by valve at this point, he clearly cares about the game more than most people in the community, devs included
Apparently he's turned down an offer before since he has narcolepsy, I imagine he's fine with where he is currently.
So lazypurple is back now thats nice i guess?
Apparently he's turned down an offer before since he has narcolepsy, I imagine he's fine with where he is currently.
even with random bouts of falling asleep im pretty sure sigsegv would be more productive than most members of the tf team
Apparently he's turned down an offer before since he has narcolepsy, I imagine he's fine with where he is currently.
They should probably just hire him as a contractor and give him access to the source code and let him directly submit code fixes to Valve.
Back in the day the hw was coloquially balanced in a way that it was not rhe axtinguisher, wich meant that most players would not trade the huge damage burst in order to support engies. It kinda worked in a way that few players would ever do this, let alone know the hw could do this. With the axtinguisher gone and puff n sting finally gone, most pyros would still never use it given most players would only support an engie nest and guard it only if it implies burning the spy to death. And the fact that the powerjack is the new meta as well. The only pyros that ever use it are already a major threat to any spy without the use of the hw, so being able to remove their sapper factors little in their ability to take buildings down.
The axtinquisher is pretty bad now.
I wonder if with the new airblast the axtinguisher could be revisited.
I wonder if with the new airblast the axtinguisher could be revisited.
We'll give unlocks a chance once they fix the magnetized 300 dps flames, shall we?
Still a little confused as to why they thought kinda sorta fixing pyro's base problems meant they didn't have to make a single balance change to any of their weapons. A lot of them plain old suck.
We'll give unlocks a chance once they fix the magnetized 300 dps flames, shall we?
you keep repeating this 300dps meme, but it should be noted that in reality they only do between 140 and 180dps
you keep repeating this 300dps meme, but it should be noted that in reality they only do between 140 and 180dps
not only that but its a bug which will get fixed Soon(tm) so using it as a balancing argument is nulified
you keep repeating this 300dps meme, but it should be noted that in reality they only do between 140 and 180dps
I used to rely on wiki for numbers but they decided to migrate to meaningless per-particle damage info rather than dps. I admit I don't know the new dps. I heard 300 somewhere and it stuck in.
Are the sticky Jumper and Rocket Jumper even useful outside practicing blast jumps? I mean ignoring meme loadouts like the Trolldier?
Are the sticky Jumper and Rocket Jumper even useful outside practicing blast jumps? I mean ignoring meme loadouts like the Trolldier?
SJ is viable with good piping. RJ is comedy, so nah.
The Pyro particle thing is really blown way out of the situation. Notice that all of the "PYRO IS BROKEN" videos do not take place in an actual gameplay environment.
SJ is viable with good piping. RJ is comedy, so nah.
What if the rocket jumper could do nondamagin knockback (sort of like the airblast) on enemies?
The Pyro particle thing is really blown way out of the situation. The flame particle issue really isn't overblown. Pyro can out-DPS a Brass Beast Heavy by flailing around like a lunatic. Pyro can "facestab" enemies with the Backburner by pulling Crazy Ivans. I tried the BB trick while slogging through a Banana Bay contract. I managed to kill a spy with crits when I should not have been able to do so. He got quite upset in text chat. While I greatly relished making a spy angry with bullshitty TF2 hit mechanics, it's painfully clear that the weapon is broken. ALL Pyro primaries (including the Dragon's Fury) are broken right now. I strongly suspect the TF2 devs are aware of it, and fixing it is nontrivial. The situation is so bad, I'd put up with a temporary Bison nerf to fix it. I say this because I think the issue with the flame particles is somehow tied to the Bison's multi-hit mechanic being restored. After the above goatfuck gets sorted, I'd really like to see Valve revisit the Axtinguisher (it could go back to its original form at this point I think) and the Degreaser (please at a minimum fix its switch speed bug.)
I live in Virginia, can I please for the love of god stop being assigned to Luxembourg servers? I thought they fixed this earlier, what happened?
(including the Dragon's Fury) are broken right now.
I'd like to hear your thoughts about it. The more I see/use it the more I think it's fine. Even with its giant ass hitbox it still needs good leading and that's somewhat not guaranteed against people not moving in a line. And its airblast feels like the old days when reflects actually required an inch of skill.
