EDIT: Also the Dragon's Fury seems to be broken around payloads

Yep. I sent an email to Eric about this last week and never got a response. There's a similar issue with flights of stairs where you can't hit people at the top unless your shots are parallel to or above the incline of the steps. You can test it with the stairwells at the bottom of Hightower.
About Steam Support and items: a few years ago they made it so they won't give any item at all, now after the upgrade of Steam Support in 2016-2017, they started giving items back again. So who knows? You should try anyway, Mentlegen. Since 2017 all my experiences with Steam Support were great. Response in the same day, and I got back the items.
They'll probs give you the item back, they just won't make it vintage or special like they used to for certain items.
I've got two keyless crates that won't open. They just tell me they've failed to connect to the item server and the item was not expended. Is this a common issue currently?

Well, the item servers just jacked up.

I think this is a side effect of yesterday's patch for key gifts, secret saxtons and crate pallets. People were using them fraudulently, so now you can't open them while they are untradeable. The keyless crates will probably be unopenable for a week, unless Valve issues another patch before then.

I felt this one was more fitting for TF2 imo.
so I assume with this pyro flames fuckup now would be a bad time to try and dip back into this game?

I personally still don't have any trouble dealing with Pyros. They're strong when they get in, but they still need to get in, and even then are not completely impossible to beat.

I'd say they're still overall more enjoyable to fight than they were before

meh not really
if you play only pyro you'll be fine
jk, things aren't that grave. Casual servers are still very casual and most pyros still don't know how to play properly, much less use the current exploits, so you should be fine.
Recently I have seen a bunch of players use the ubersaw in medieval mode.
Why do people not read the descriptions of items they use.
because what does it matter with random crits

I still see people use jumper weapons, usually the rocket jumper to attack enemies directly...
Why? Because people are stupid...

To be fair, they could've just been handicapping themselves, and Demoknights aside, Medic is the strongest melee character in the game thanks to his MS and health regen (he can kite Heavy very easily in melee so that point is moot)
When I got around to Medieval mode for my contract I went Disciplinary Action/Conch Soldier. Outscored the Demos by quite a bit because of that stupidly long melee-range and random crits.

Speaking of medevil... Can either the Thermal Thruster or Gas Passer be used in it?
I kind of figure the Thruster wouldn't be allowed, but hey you never know with Valve. But the Gas Passer might be a different story...

People make the issue out to be the second apocalypse on Facepunch but anywhere else people dont even notice it, it's fine, really.
EDIT: Obviously not fine in the way that it shouldnt be fixed but fine in the way that its FAR away from "ruins gameplay"

People love to overreact. Don't listen, just make your own input through playing.
I'm only really noticing it when doing pyro vs pyro - normally I'd be able to get a constant flame on them while they'd be chipping away, but now you don't have to really care about flame physics or aiming there's a lot of times where we both die or I barely get out, whereas normally I'd be able to get out fairly unscathed most of the time.
If you've never really got the grips of the flame physics, then I doubt it'll have much negative effect at all honestly.
Regarding the Alternative Mode contract: DeGroot Keep seems by far the easiest and least frustrating choice to 3-star, but I'm kinda interested in giving the other 2 modes a go, haven't played them in ages.
Am I gonna lose my mind just trying to queue for 30+ minutes? Is it even possible to find a populated server in a reasonable amount of time?
Also, the PASS Time contract's intercepting task seems ridiculous, I played the mode when it was in Beta and in the uncoordinated chaos of playing with randoms, I don't think I've actually managed to intercept the Jack more than a few times in many hours of playing.

I did the PASS Time contract. Passes that your team does to you also count as "interceptions" (unless they patched it), and considering that other people will probably be doing the same contract as you, you can also ask them to help you out. I got it done in 3 maps without asking people though, so it isn't so bad of a contract.

People are not overreacting. The flame physics bug doesn't make the game unplayable at all, just unreasonable against pyro.
But who am I kidding. All the pyro mains I know are loving the huge flailing DPS and try to minimize the talk of fixing these things...
because what does it matter with random crits
Ubersaw has slower swing speed, and it's upside doesn't matter in medieval mode.

I hope Im not the only one who did this

Oh they were handicapping themselves alright. The only thing is that they haven't managed to realize that.
It feels sad that i'm really not finding any use of the chocolate bars now thanks to the banana.

Honestly I'm not even a Pyro main I'm a Soldier main. I just love the looks of Pyro and its stupid quirks as a character. When I play Soldier, Scout, Demoman, etc... I have never ran into issues killing a Pyro. I think you just need to get better at positioning and knowing where to stand.
Are you a Heavy main? Because that's the only class I don't play. But we already know Heavy is underpowered and needs buffs, that's what the next major update is for.
Sorry, I'm still trying to understand this viewpoint. I'm not saying your wrong in any way, but I am confused only because I never had issues so far for the past month. And yes, I get the jankiness with the flamethrower based on that one video, but I have never seen anyone abuse it in-game.
