What're the objectives for that one again?
The primary objective is backstabs, each gives six cp so you only have to backstab 17 times. Secondary objectives are dominate as Spy four times and get five kills in a life as Spy three times.
Any tips for the advanced Spy contract?
Banana Bay is a great playground for Spy. You'd think Pyro would make it hell but most of the time they aren't Spy-checking.

I briefly experimented with a strategy on Upward which involved demomortaring stickies from between the first BLU spawn and first point to the exact locations of common Sentry spots.
It didn't work cause the stickies would just bounce off the invisible walls that extended upwards from the roofs of the buildings, but it did bring me to think of less 'intercontinental' applications of demomortaring, and now from the comfort of my own spawn I am able to bombard the Upward first point Sentry spot, one of the Badwater first point spots, and many more.

Equip CnD with L'etranger. Allows you to function as pseudo-invis for general spy stuff and you can also camp at any time and wait for the guy you want to dominate. Only go for people who are shooting, take no chances and cloak instantly after each stab. That's about it.
Normally I'd do this on a ctf map with oblivious snipers, but with catbots around that's probably not an option. Comp maps can be harsh for spy since they're popular among veterans. Try what's left - lower-tier payload, 5cp and a/d like Thunder Mountain, Mountain Lab or Foundry.

Will try to brave the catbots on harvest.
edit: actually fuck that, played one match of harvest and that was enough. picked lesser played maps, like you said mountain lab, junction, yukon, maps like that.

Competitive matchmaking overhaul, Heavy update. That's about it.
Competitive matchmaking overhaul, Heavy update. That's about it.
What weapons does everyone think we'll get for the heavy update?
I think we're going to get 2 mini-gun replacements. One that's designed for a fat scout playstyle (possible a shield like many people have guessed in the past but it could be something else), the other being a semi-auto primary of some kind (now that the medic has the Crossbow and the Pyro has the Dragon's Fury every class has one but Heavy). Outside of that I have no idea though I do feel pretty confident those will be two of the weapons.

As February approaches, all we have are Dave Riller's (unfinished) big game he talked during the VNN valve interview two years ago, and the idea gleaned from a single steam message that valve wasn't ready to re-ship competitive, despite having over a decade to do so and a community that already runs the scene and has done most of the work themselves.
So yeah. Things are looking great for 2018.

Pouring one out for the canned Firework minigun we were supposed to get for the Triad Pack instead of the The Huo-Long Heater... :frown:
It would be hilarious if the new comp just redirected you to UGC
It would be hilarious if the new comp just redirected you to UGC
Would probably work better
It would be hilarious if the new comp just redirected you to UGC
That would still be an improvement and I'd have no problem with that
I think the soonest we'll have something significant happen is the 11th February, the day Jungle Inferno ends.
I'm curious to see what they will decide to do with the pyroland contracts, will they just stay or will they make them drops? Making them stay like that would give us an answer to what the TF Team sees in the future of "achievement weapons"
As far as the "next Major Update" goes - I honest to god think we'll get it before our generic July month. Reasons for that are two:
- Both the TF Team and the community seems pleased with the War Paint system thus giving the TF Team no need to reinvent it for the 34th time. War Paint cases are always bound to Campaigns, and I seriously doubt they'd have the War Paint cases offline for 6 months.
- Same goes for the Contract system. it seems easier to develop for based on the fact that they made the halloween contracts transition this quickly unless they prepared it before-hand. Means they wont have to reinvent this either.
So; Unless the TF Team decides to make War Paint cases drop without campaigns attached to them, I'd fairly certain we'll see a contract update earlier than july. Will it have comp or balancing? new weapons? who knows, but it'll have contracts and war paints.

We'll probably just get a cosmetic crate and maybe a regular crate with strange versions of the new Jungle Inferno weapons between Feb 11 and June/July.
Though like I've said many times a mostly community made MVM update in February/March/April would be perfect.
wrong person
Huh odd, idk why I thought they were the same person.
Jungle Inferno ends just a few days before Valentine's.
Valentine's = romance = matchmaking.
Valentine's Day matchmaking update confirmed.
Yeah, I mean, who the f plays UGC anymore lmao.
'UGC'? More like 'UGH' am I right lads?
To be honest, I'm half expecting Jungle Inferno to be extended for a few weeks. If memory serves, both Gun Mettle and Tough Break were extended for quite a while, and I think they did the same for the Invasion event, even though that had no contracts. I really don't expect enything major until summer, maybe a cosmetics case or two.
Especially since being able to only do one contract at a time, being at the mercy of never-ending maps and a MM system slower and less efficient at contracts than the old Quickplay, and with all the pain-in-the-ass bonus objectives that are required for reaching Australium level, it's all made this current campaign more time-consuming and frsutratingly unfun at times than the older ones.
I'm only at Bronze level and not really sure whether I'll bother with all the bonus objectives, and I did all of them during the older campaigns. They just picked some really poor 'classic' maps for contracts, made bonus objectives ridiculously tedious and frustrating, and cranked up requirements for the Australium Contracker WAY too much (you literally have no leeway, have to do every single frustrating shit on maps and toxic playerbases totally not conducive to such feats).
I like the choose-your-own-adventure format, but they should allow us to do at least 2 contracts at once, and they should really dwell on what bonus objectives and map contracts to pick for the next Campaign.
is it still possible to get the Black Rose these days? will SAM work?

SAM still works, you just need to manually type the appid of the game and then you'll see it

Valve shouldn't ever release an update on Valentine's Day again; Valentine's Day will forever be a day of mourning.

There have been two updates on February 14th, in 2008 and 2011, both seemed fine, what's the issue?
